David sang and danced to and for God alone. It's the same in Church service. If it's done simply to entertain the people, it's for the wrong reason. And we have sort of derailed this one. But I like it.

Clyde stated that his [Catholic] faith says that the Church is where you get married. That's a fact - the Catholic Church does say that, as I explained above.

 

As for your statement about still having a church wedding without inviting a bunch of people...that's true. But...the purpose of inviting more witnesses to your vow is traditionally intended (in the truest meaning, at least) to give greater influence and cause for the bride and groom to remain true to that vow partly because of all of those people who stood witness to it.

I guess I disagree that it was narcissistic in the sense that I think all weddings are that way. We've just become accustomed to them in the form we are used to seeing them. Dropping 30-60K on a one day affair is narcissism at it's finest if you ask me. How much more prudently could that $ have been used on a newlywed couple?

I totally understand all of this, and is why I found it very hypocritical of Clyde to suggest the bride in the video is a narcissist without knowing her heart, and the reason behind why she chose to sing to her groom.

Watched the first 30 seconds. This was an American Idol audition. I think JLO and Randy and Steven will give her a golden ticket for the Hollywood round.

Very nice voice, beautiful girl, lovely dress, connects with the audience. (However, groom appeared disconnected.)

I would have been uncomfortable just being in the audience. The desire to laugh would have been too much.

 

At age 10 I was at my step-grandmother's funeral in south central KY. Our tribe of Covington hooligans made up about 90% of the crowd in the small rural church.

 

Near the end of the funeral the choir broke into something between a wail and yodel. Song went on for about 15 minutes. My grandfather was an immigrant from Sicily, very strict and not known for having a sense of humor. I look around the pew and my brother and sisters are about ready to explode. (think Monty Python's Life of Brian, Bigus...). If one of us had broken, the whole lot of us would have been sunk. My grandfather finally went up to the choir and suggested that they wrap up the song. If he hadn't they might still be singing.
