If Your Bride Wants to Do This...

Featured Replies

Singing a solo in church is serving the people? Funny, I thought it was serving God.

The Catholic faith says you have to get married in a church? What verse in the Bible do you use for that?

You still didn't tell me why it's a given that she narcissistic.

The Catholic Church teaches that, traditionally, a wedding includes sharing the Eucharist. The consecration and reposing of the Eucharist is to take place in a church when at all possible. Thereby - for one of a handful of reasons, weddings are to take place in a church. It also, in a matter of speaking, ups the anti and makes the bride and groom more aware of the relation of their marriage and God...and the fact that their vow is being made in a sacred place.

It may not be completely rooted in scripture...but where did the Baptists come up with anything in the Bible forbidding dancing?...or completely forbidding drinking?

(Side note: I'm also a little disappointed in your jab at the Catholic Church.)

Bingo. Big difference between this and singing to your soon-to-be-spouse. I was at a wedding many years ago, where the groom, a REALLY quiet and shy guy, sang a George Strait song to his bride...not a dry eye in the house. That was cool. THIS was not.

Oh, so you knew the guy so therefore it wasn't narcissistic at all. Gotcha..

Who said anything about dancing or drinking? The point I was trying to make is that if you want to say this bride was narcissistic then you might as well classify all brides and grooms narcissistic. You can still have a church wedding without inviting a bunch of people.

The point I was trying to make was that not all of the rules of all religions are taken directly from scripture...it was a response to your little "The Catholic faith says you have to get married in a church? What verse in the Bible do you use for that?" rip.

Wasn't a rip it all. It was an honest question. I know very little about the Catholic faith.

You are absolutely serving the people in the church. We can play semantics if you'd like.

Catholics believe that marriage is a sacrament and strongly believes that the wedding should take place in the Catholic church.

1+1=2. She's narcissistic.

I would have been uncomfortable just being in the audience. The desire to laugh would have been too much.

I would have been looking for hidden cameras thinking it was a joke. You've got to lack a certain amount of self-awareness to do something like that.

I've always believed that if you are the person being honored or you are the center of attention then it's important to be humble. You have family and friends there to celebrate a union. It's already about you and your partner. You don't need to yell at the top of your lungs "LOOK AT ME." To do so is inappropriate and, as I've said repeatedly, narcissistic.

As many of you know from my history on here I'm not looking for validation.

Just because you can do simple math doesn't explain to me why she's narcissistic. So your wedding was just you, your bride, and the priest, and parents? If it was more than that, I would have to think you throw yourself into the same category as this bride.

What part aren't you following?

Having friends and family to celebrate with you is the opposite of narcissistic. You're sharing the joy with people you love. If I didn't have anyone there it would be me saying "screw you , friends and family. I don't need you. "

Again, you disagree. I'm cool with that.

Then why did you post it?

Yes, as I told someone else, by definition any tradition one follows for a wedding can be labeled as such. Most people consider that a given and it's not necessary to state the obvious BUT I will.

The BRIDE is narcissistic in a measure that is relative to the norm so , therefore, I label her as such.

Semantics.

David sang and danced to and for God alone. It's the same in Church service. If it's done simply to entertain the people, it's for the wrong reason. And we have sort of derailed this one. But I like it. This is far from Church service, and it's not much different for me than picking overkill orchids or unbelievably overpriced invitations. Just something the bride does for her own muse.
