Some will remember previous posts on here by me where I decried the continuing and growing lack of respect shown to the President of the United States. It certainly didn't start with President Obama but it has gotten worse in his term. We call the President by his last name when we want to discredit him "Bush is stupid." "Obama is a socialist." We refer to him by "Barry" or "Georgie."

 

Here's the latest example of a reporter showing disrespect to the President.

If the POTUS was standing up there saying "Communism is the way to go for the USA" he STILL deserves the respect the office garners.

Something tells me this will be the last time the hack is on Whitehouse grounds, or at any event involving a president.

Obama announced that the Department of Homeland Security will stop deportations and grant work permits for students who meet certain requirements. The policy change will apply to those who arrived in the U.S. before turning 16, who have been in the country for at least five years!

 

But does he, the President, have the power to do this without the prior approval of the Congress?

 

I am for one getting tired of the Presidents (note the s) trying to do what the Congress is suppose to do, that is trying to make the laws of the land instead of approving them or vetoing them!

 

BTW the reporter had no manners at all!

The answer is of course not. He has now gone extra-constitutional and is not even pretending to respect it.

 

He made a sniveling deal with the Russian ruler to have 'more flexibility' in his second term.

 

For these type actions he is going to face more 'lack of respect'. He is not respecting the Constitution and we are Constitutional Republic. It is as if this is spit on the face of all Americans.

"Some" on BGP thought it was funny when shoes were thrown at the last President in a show of disrespect.

 

Clyde you are right, disagreeing with a person or their ideals is one thing, but we should not disrespect the office.

Jumper, as a D I agree, the show thrown at Bush wad a huge sign if disrespect. But it was soneone from a country where doing so is one of the biggest signs of disrespect, if you remember wben Baghdad fell and they toppled Hussain's statue, many of them were hitting it with their shoes. Had that been a US citizen I would expect them to be arrested.

For the record I do not think calling a president just by their last name is distespectful, Unless adressing them. I call Clinton Clinton, I call Hillary Hillary, unless I am in their presence.

I was a registered Democrat until after 2000 when I thought Florida antics showed the future of that party. Those concerns have materialized. At the local level I like my Democratic state rep much better than the Repub State Senators. I have voted for Ross Perot and would support a conservative run against McConnell. I am only registered to be able to vote in primaries. I am not a monolithic political hack. At the end of the day you have to pick one of 2 devils sometimes.

 

I do believe the allegiance to the party over allegiance to self or country is out of control at the national level.

 

In this case if you announce an extra-constitutional policy - out of the blue in a surprise Friday afternoon drop you should answer questions you should ensure the format is planned out. This was another announce-and-run actions by the group.

It was the standard photo op talk and run. It's not new. He should not have interupted. I cannot get the video to load so I don't know how plausible his explaination for shouting out is.

Much ado about nothing. Typical of today's media trying to make the news and the headlines instead of reporting it. The whole scene in Washington is dysfunctional, bordering on pathetic.

Thats just a poor excuse to condone extremely bad manners .

Is respect earned or just given? The President has not done anything to earn my respect except for being a good dad, terrible leader IMO and taking us down a bad road.
