Louisville or Cincinnati Zoo?

Featured Replies

We are trying to come up with a short vacation trip for our kids. One idea was to go to either the Cin. zoo or the Louisville zoo. Anyone been to both? Any suggestions?

We are also thinking about taking them to the Newport Aquarium. I've never been so didn't know if it was worth it. Any suggestions would be welcomed.

Go to krogers and you get $2.00 off the tickets to the aquarium.

I've not been to the Cincinnati Zoo for probably over 20 years so I cannot comment on it, but the Louisville Zoo is pretty nice. Another great nearby option is the St. Louis Zoo. It has free admission, however, you do pay about $8.00 per car for parking. If you don't mind traveling a little farther, the Ft. Wayne Children's Zoo is really neat. It is geared for kids and my daughters really had a good time. My oldest daughter loves animals and we usually end up going to a zoo on every vacation.

The Newport Aquarium is nice, It's been about 5 years since I have been there, but if I recall it is good for about a half day. Don't think it will entertain the kids as long as a zoo would, but it is still a nice visit.

The St Louis Zoo is also an option for us but we would prefer to go east instead of west. We are thinking about going to the water part in French Lick and possibly the horse park in Lexington.

Never been to Louisville zoo, but Cincinnati zoo is pretty cool. So is the aquarium in Newport. If you go to the aquarium you can see a movie or something after then go to dinner at the Levee as well.

They usually have magicians, balloon makers, and other random acts around the levee throughout the day.

I've never been to the Louisville Zoo to compare it, but I have a hard time seeing it being better than the Cincy Zoo. I'm a big fan of it, and went about a month ago. The Newport Aquarium is very nice as well, but as mentioned, will probably not take you that long.

The Cincinnati Zoo is much bigger and has a lot more going on so if all other considerations are equal, the Cincinnati Zoo is probably the way to go.

Columbus zoo also is a water park and amusement park.

I love Columbus zoo.

The Cincinnati Zoo is one of the top rated in the whole country. If you go to Newport aquarium as well like someone else posted you can see a movie and have dinner all at the levee. They also have a new kids play ares out front. You can walk the bridge or take a bus and go straight to downtown Cincy to catch a Reds game

I have been to both - been a while for each - and hands down Cincinnati.

Louisville has made lots of improvements but I still think it's definitely Cincy. Plus Newport Aquarium is a lot of fun.

Go to the Newport aquarium's website and you can reserve special behind-the-scenes tours and experiences. Well worth it -- especially if you have little ones.

The Cincinnati Zoo is world class and well worth the trip. The zoo babies is just one special area that is a lot of fun for kids...and adults.

I wasn't overly impressed with either the Louisville Zoo or the Newport Aquarium. As for Zoo's I would pick Cincy Zoo....if aquariums are your thing, within driving distance I would pick the one in Gatlinburg, it was much nicer and a lot bigger than Newports.
