May 11, 201214 yr Obama is not pushing gay rights. He said he supports same sex marriage. Just like he supports the states' rights to allow same sex marriage in their state. Didn't say he was pushing gay rights, that was the point in West Wing episode which is similar to this current situation. President Obama makes this statement just before going to a big Hollywood fund raiser where it will be very well received. On WW Pres went to big Hoolywood fundraiser and was being pushed to take a stand on gay rights by those raising money for him.

You are right, then he was for it...then against it...then for it again! Specifically, he believes in the evolution of his positions on political issues, like gay marriage. Before he was a U.S. senator, Obama liked gay marriage. Then, when he ran for the Senate, he said gay marriage was wrong. As president, he claimed his views were "evolving" on it -- and finally, this week, after Vice President Joe Biden jumped the gun, Obama said he likes it again. About 25 people that I work with just found out that they are being severed on June 8. Many with over 35 years of service. We have hired 20 people in the last 6 months and 10 more were hired and begin work in a week or so and more hires are likely to come this summer. Should Obama get the credit for that?

Gay marriage is coming -- hopefully everywhere -- and its banishment in years past will seem as out-of-touch as not allowing women to vote or black individuals to drink at the same water fountain as white individuals. Glad to see President Obama support this, and I can only hope that the conservatives I back will open their eyes to it, as well.
