June 30, 201214 yr Want to reference their career production through the same ages? No just last season. Dunn had some prolific years in the mid 2000s. No way do I want todays Adam Dunn over Jay Bruce. Nor would the Reds obviously. And again we are in fantasy land with Dunn fans. Jay Bruce does not make anything near what Dunn was preparing to demand. So if Dunn was still here, Jay Bruce wouldn't likely be here. Oh and I doubt the 1st basemen, Oh what's his name? Joe something? Yeah he wouldn't have been offered a deal that keeps him here for 10 years. So you like Dunn? Thats fine. I'll take Bruce and Votto and Phillips.

However, some of us do maintain he received an undue amount of criticism and blame for the Reds' shortcomings when he was playing there.
June 30, 201214 yr Want to reference their career production through the same ages? Looks like they are about even aside from base on balls through 4 seasons...
June 30, 201214 yr Looks like they are about even aside from base on balls through 4 seasons... Correct, Dunn has a better eye than Bruce and drew more walks which also gave him a higher OBP...They are still a wash pretty much...

July 1, 201214 yr Adam Dunn: $14,000,000 Jay Bruce: 5,041,000 Still Like Adam Dunn better than Jay Bruce??? Dunn made 4.6 million at age 25. Dunn made 12 million at age 30 Bruce is going to make 13 million at age 30 You can't compare salaries when they are at completely different stages of their careers...

If you would rather have todays Adam Dunn on the Reds roster you HAVE to look at current salaries. Like I said you guys can have him. The Reds knew what they had and let him go for what? I'll tell you what, to get him the hell off the roster and out of the clubhouse. And amazingly not too long after he's gone, what?? a division championship?? Wow! But thats impossible. "You can't replace 40,100,100". All Adam Dunn is, is the quintesential stat accumulator. Again you can have him. I seriously hoped we were done talking about the Drunken Monkey. Well I am.

No, actually you can't. I've never said I want today's Adam Dunn or the past Adam Dunn. I just pointed out that Dunn and Bruce are the exact same type of offensive player, yet you have no problem with Bruce at the plate?

I take Bruce over Dunn, due to defense,( except for yesterday), clubhouse, and potential. Now if at 30, Bruce is making 13 mil, and posts a season like Dunner did last year, I'd hang him out to dry.

Then maybe you should have just answered my question when I asked how you felt about Bruce, instead of comparing him to Dunn. Because they are very similiar players. I don't think Dunn was a bad clubhouse guy, I'm not sure how you're drawing that conclusion.

July 2, 201214 yr He thinks he was lazy and it rubbed off on the other guys. Close. More lifestyle. They all lived at One Lytle together. Frat house mentality is being conservative. I even mentioned to Kearns, that they'd be paying for it in a couple years. Really I had few qualms with Dunn until I had some personal experiences with the dude. I did notice that Dunn looked trimmer, so at least he's finally working at it. He very easily could have been a superstar. That being said, he has made quite a bit of money, so hat's off to him for that. And that only.
