You're right FKW. As much as I hate to admit it, that door has to be opened some time. And I honestly think the powers of MLB knew exactly what was going on during that period and chose to look the other way. They all just sat and counted the $$.

If you are one of the best at your position for numerous seasons you are a HOF'er. Pudge fits the bill.

He was awesome at his position. This day in age how many guys with a nickname like pudge last as long in the league as he did, not many.

What bothers me is the numbers game. Specifically, that certain players have been left out because they don't live up to the numbers of the most recent era. Folks are willing to project what Steroid Guy A and Steroid Guy B would've done against other eras. However, they don't want to project how guys such as Dale Murphy might have done from 1990-2009 against his coming up from 1976-93.

I don't get Dale Murphy. The guy basically dominated a decade. He was one of the top 2 left fielders for the 1980s while playing for awful teams. How does he not get more pub for the Hall of Fame? He won 2 MVP awards...while playing for horrible teams. I hate Baseball Writers. It's as if you were less of a player if your team wasn't good enough to get into the playoffs consistently.

I mean, come on.

He is right there with Lance Berkman as the all time REDS killer. I saw him hit 3 dingers in one game out against the Reds one Saturday afternoon and he had 5 homers in that series against them. To further strengthen your argument. I think because he got a late start in the majors at 24 and had a pretty bad final 5 yrs where he only hit 88 homers and avg 224 hitting its the reason he is not there. For 5-6 yrs he was better than most Centerfielders to ever play the game.

Without question..If Carter and Fisk are in then by all means Pudge deserves to be in. Outstanding in my opinion. Top 5 alltime.

Rose is out of the Hall of Fame b/c of his ego. Had he just admitted to gambling, he would have been reinstated years ago. More than likely that would have led to his election. I feel no pity for him.
