The mural was meant to depict the life of a man and it ended with the scene with the man, woman and a child. The student artist, 17-year-old Liz Bierendy, said that she depicted the man and woman has married with wedding rings. According to Horoshack’s press release the scene was painted over because “some of the members of the Pilgrim High Schoolcommunity suggested that the depiction of a young man’s development from boyhood through adulthood as displayed may not represent the life experiences of many of the students at Pilgrim High School.”

When School Superintendent Horoschak learned about the incident he contacted the assistant principal at the school and requested that the student be allowed to finish the mural the way she saw fit.

I think it's offensive to non-skateboarders, non music lovers, high school dropouts and people who wear baseball caps with the bill facing forward. Scrap it!

This is stupidity at its finest. Why would this be "inappropriate"?

This was offensive. Who lives like this anymore. The mom should have had two kids with two different last names, be kinda plump with a bun in the oven from her new man - a hispanic or African American man, that smokes cigarettes. That's the life of man anymore.

Don't paint with too broad a brush. Depending on where you choose to raise a family, your best choices might be public schools. Also, you might find "stupidity at its finest" at a private school.

I went to private schools my whole life growing up. In this area, I have plenty of choices that are much better than any public schools.

Let's just keep this on the down low between us BGP folk....
