Can we get a pole of BGP members who went to public schools?

I went to private school from K-8 and 2 public high schools in 2 different states.

Can a lot of them be considered "families?" A family signifies an intent of permanence. A lot of these "blended families" are just temporary hook ups that unfortunately have kids involved.

America will not get back to where it should be economically and educationally until it rights itself socially. I don't care who marries who, but 2 parents have to be present. Most single parents do a fantastic job, but it is too heavy of a burden financially...in my humble opinion.

Maybe I am taking this wrong, and if so, I apologize, but are you saying that interracial couples are more likely to be "temporary hook ups" than non-interracial couples?

No, I was referring to what 85Bears satirically said at the beginning of this thread and the mentioning of blended families (i.e. men w/ children being in a relationship w/ women w/ children.) being the norm in the US. It has nothing to do w/ race, blended families can be all white/ all black/ all Hispanic. It has to do w/ what I grew up seeing and what I see currently where couples w/ children don't put the children first and the relationships create volatile and/or shaky home lives for children.

I'm entitled to my own opinion am I not?

Most people I've encountered that went to public schools are vastly unprepared for college and professional life compared to those that went to private schools, so yes, I do feel that private schools are VASTLY better than public schools.

I would argue that it has way more to do with family and up bringing versus what school you went too.

Better get a carpenter to make the pole first
I'd gladly pay the tuition rather than have to deal with this crap all the time.
I did , I paid close to $50,000 over 12 years to NCC for my three kids and it was worth every dollar given the public school choices (3) we had .

Where did you get temporary hookups from.

Where did you get temporary hookups from.

Not from you, from personal experience from where I grew up and what a lot of my grade school friends encountered w/ their parents.

Very good school, but then there are schools like Highlands that I was very comfortable sending my two kids to where I feel they got every bit as good of an education as they would have at NCC.

I think people look at rankings/test scores and write schools off because them. That doesn't mean they're bad schools, only they are forced to take kids that don't want to be there, aren't very smart, have tons of family issues, ect... that affect their performance in school. Private schools don't have that problem, at least not close to the level public schools do.

Count me as one who wishes he could go back in time and go to a private school where a lot of that riff-raff was checked at the door. My high school was one of the most colossal wastes of time you could possibly imagine — and I know a thing or two about wasting time — because everything was geared down for the clods who made the school motto "I cain't wait 'til I turn 16 so's I can quee-uht!" I left that miserable place completely unprepared for college because I never received any kind of real challenge in HS, and hated every minute of it.

That doesn't mean that all public schools are bad — even the one I went to has progressed. But when I was there, it was a hellhole and one of the worst schools in the state, with the highest dropout rate in northern Kentucky.

I certainly understand your perspective on this and appreciate your open-mindedness in realizing that lumping all public schools in this category would be wrong...just as wrong as saying that private schools are vastly better than public schools. As a public school teacher I know that not all schools are like mine, BUT at my school our main focus is college/career readiness not state testing scores or simply earning a diploma. Each school should be judged on its own merit, not generalized.

I agree, I'm merely pointing out there are public/independent schools that equal or exceed private schools.

I get where you are coming from. Not NKY, but an American Army base in Germany. If I had a "do over" would have graduated early and spent a yr stateside at a private school, living with a relative, taking some college prep math and science.

We're on the same page. That was the only reason I used your post. It was helping to make my point.
