March 28, 201214 yr No you haven't. Please provide a single link where someone has said racism is a thing of the past. What has been said, and is true, is that it is better than in the past, not that it is no longer around. http://bluegrasspreps.com/kentucky-national-politics/gop-led-senate-205113.html#post3825960 Here's one, right in the thread I told you it was in.
March 28, 201214 yr So, the ownership of other humans and the continued subservient treatment of black persons in this country (which is undoubtedly still an issue) is justifiable because "other people did it too?" That's pathetic. Are you kidding? Minorities are given more rights in our country than any other on the face of the earth. For God's sake our President is a minority. I am asking where is the outrage over the amount of black on black crime? And where is the outrage (turned into action) over child slavery in today's world (not the 1800's). People want to "act" all upset about something they know little about, yet there are current stories of peoples being slayed in Syria (where are we?) today, and children being forced into sex slavery by their families in 2012, and we want to talk about 1860.

But didn't this thread start out talking about today?

Your link goes to my post in that thread so I'm assuming you are using my post to support your point that someone has said racism is a thing of the past. My post says no such thing. It says it is not as prevalent amongst educated open minded people as it was in the past. A position I continue to believe. It is better than it was in the past. Racism and heck even slavery at one time was accepted by educated open minded people. I don't think that is the case today and I believe that firmly. I never said it was gone completely. Try again.

First, you're the one brought up slavery, inexplicably. Secondly, what happened in 1789 affects 1860 affects 1960 and it affects today. You can't ignore it, unless you want to continue the white victimhood thing. And that is pathetic. Thirdly, people are upset about those other things, but like most things that happen outside of this country they are glossed over. Your bringing them into this thread is a red herring.
March 28, 201214 yr I profile, but I don't feel I do it along racial lines, I do it along economic lines and appearance. If I'm out late, and I see a group of kids (teens/early 20's) wearing baggy clothes, flat bills, that whole look, I'm going to the other side of the street. It doesn't matter if they are black or white. If I see a black man dressed in nice clothes, I'll walk right past him and nod hello. Like I said, if you look like a hood rat, then I will believe that you are a hood rat. The color of your skin will not impact that at all.

And so once again why are the African forefathers not severly questioned for selling their ancestors then. I feel not one ounce of remorse for my part in slavery as I have never had one, nor known anybody that has. I wasn't part of the Spanish Inquisition either, so I assume no responsibility for that either. You can keep feeling victimized or guilty if you wish. I choose not to participate in such nonsense.
March 28, 201214 yr One of the funniest comedy bits I ever heard was (and I'm paraphrasing) George Lopez talking about driving on the expressway. He passed a white lady on the freeway and as he was passing, at speed, said person looked at him "and she locked her doors." Both hilarious and a sad commentary.

Racism and heck even slavery at one time was accepted by educated open minded people. I don't think that is the case today and I believe that firmly. I never said it was gone completely. Try again. You were trying to argue that the Civil Rights Act of 1964 should be repealed. That it is actually making things worse because we've moved beyond many of the issues. Racism will always exist and it is better at least instituationally. However it is 2012 and we have a young black man that was shot and killed for nothing more than walking through a white neighborhood while the lighter skin man that shot him walks free. Then we have a thread like this suggesting reverse racism. Is it really better? If this was a white kid in a black neighborhood is there any chance his shooter would be free right now? Would a major media outlet suggest the white kid shouldn't have been there and should have dressed less white? I will keep trying though.
March 28, 201214 yr Author You need to distinguish between the natural human nature of profiling and the legal/illegal argument regarding profiling. It's two distinct arguments. Which one are you referring to? My whole point was that they say Zimmerman racially profiled and picked on Trayvon becaue he was black. Isnt the BLACK MALE CODE the same thing, racially profiling whites as black haters. Yes we all profile, but if I see a black man on the street I walk by him and speak, heck my next door neighbors are black and come over for cookouts.
March 28, 201214 yr Are you kidding? Minorities are given more rights in our country than any other on the face of the earth. For God's sake our President is a minority. I am asking where is the outrage over the amount of black on black crime? I'm going to stick to the topic of this thread. If you want to talk about all the world's wrongs then go ahead. I'll address your obvious issues with blacks though. Your first sentence after..."Are you kidding" reeks of racist thoughts or beliefs. "Minorities are given more rights in our country than any other country on the face of this earth." Seriously? Last I checked I had the exact same rights you did. Last I saw I am free to breathe the same air you breathe, drink the same water you drink, work at the same place you work at, use the same toilets as you.....you'll definitely need to provide some more examples of these rights that I haven't heard about yet because if I can use them to my advantage I am going to. Word up. What strikes me though is the disgust you seem to have of minorities being in your country. Read that sentence out loud. It sounds awful. And if I am wrong by all means correct me but I have read it aloud multiple times and it still sounds awful. And then you say "for God's sake our President is a minority." And even he has been the butt of racially insensitive jokes sent by email from elected officials to one another. I was hesitant to even respond to you because some people will never have a clue or any true perspective on what it is like to actually grow up as a minority in this country and you seem to fit that description. Yes, I am profiling you based on things you have said on here. I profile you as close minded and bitter. If I am wrong then I will be open minded and waiting for you to convince me otherwise. I don't see things in black and white in my life or who I hang around and talk to and I definitely don't keep a scorecard on who has the most rights in our country that I don't think is rotted from within. I'll save that for the close minded bitter folks and I'll keep trying to stay positive about our future. As for your black on black crime comment.....outrage about black on black crime has been going on since I was in junior high. Rappers such as Kanye West, Common, The Roots, even Jay Z and many other rappers speak on black on black crime in their lyrics. People such as Tavis Smiley and Bomani Jones write articles or speak on black and black violence as well. The outrage about black on black violence is there. Will you see the outrage on Fox News or any of the other cable news channels? Doubtful. Very doubtful. But the outrage is there. Unfortunately no one has produced a productive answer as to how to stop it.
March 28, 201214 yr And so once again why are the African forefathers not severly questioned for selling their ancestors then. I wasn't part of the Spanish Inquisition either, so I assume no responsibility for that either. You can keep feeling victimized or guilty if you wish. I choose not to participate in such nonsense. You're the only one talking about slavery. We are talking about race in 2012. Slavery might be part of the causal chain that led us to this point, but expressing remorse over slavery IS NOT the issue. You are trying to excuse racism because you didnt own a slave a century ago (and find it sadly acceptable because someone else did it). But, what you can take responsibility for is your diatribe about the rotting of our country because minorities have "too many rights." You can't put your beliefs on race more plainly than that, and you didnt need to own a slave to do it either.

Isnt the BLACK MALE CODE the same thing, racially profiling whites as black haters. Yes we all profile, but if I see a black man on the street I walk by him and speak, heck my next door neighbors are black and come over for cookouts. So we're not talking about the legal argument for police. OK. Yes, we all profile. We see anything that looks out of place due to their clothes, their skin color , their age, time of night, our past experiences, our incorrect beliefs) and our mind starts clicking. History(actual history and not my friend History) tells us that black males need to cautious in some circumstances. Zimmerman proved that to many who believe the cause of the action was the skin color. Profiling is not bad. It's actually a logical thought. However, when you then ACT based on it it CAN be bad . So the difference in NWO telling his boys how to be in certain situations and Zimmerman is that one was proactive with the goal of avoiding trouble while the other led to a bad and potentially illegal action.

Unfortunately no one has produced a productive answer as to how to stop it. It won't stop until the cycle of poverty is broken. You don't see the African Americans from the middle class up taking part. Black on black crime has a direct relationship with income levels. I would think that the majority of the crime comes from battles over drug dealing channels (turf etc.). As long as you can make a ton of money dealing drugs, it will be a very tough sell to show that being educated ultimately leads to more success.
