Your most painful NCAA Tournament memory

What is it for you? I know that all of BBN says "The Shot", so what comes after that?

For me it's this:

I guess it was when I was younger and UK lost to Arizona in the 1997 National Championship.

Losing that 2008 regional final to UNC was pretty rough. Had our chances down the stretch but UNC just couldn't miss. It's demoralizing to play really well but go against a team that on that particular night can do no wrong. Felt pretty similar the next year losing that regional final to Michigan State.

But in the end, I still think that the 1996 Sweet 16 game against Wake Forest is the worst moment I've had in the tournament. That four-step continuation call they gave Tim Duncan still hurts.

On the other hand, Dayton was a No. 4 seed my freshman year and we were upset by 13-seed Tulsa in the first round. It was the first layer in the hard shell of cynicism that now covers my Dayton fandom. That was a bad night.

I remember being almost as upset when Kentucky lost to Michigan in 1993 as I was the previous year against Duke. Mashburn was (and still is) my favorite Kentucky player, so on top of knowing that UK was not going to win the tournament, you knew that was the last game he'd be at Kentucky (probably).

The Kentucky Michigan State Elite Eight game where Sparks hit the 3 to send it to OT.

Knowing it was favorite UK player's, Chuck Hayes, last game was pretty heartbreaking.

Mine is obviously Laettner's shot but my second is:

In the hospital the day of my daughter's birth...UAB goes off and sends Kentucky home early. Talk about a bittersweet day...

The day my innocence was lost. Whatever day it was in 1992. We had our whole neighborhood there, all of us b/n the ages of 7-13. My cousin was the only one rooting for Duke. As Laetner ran down the court to celebrate, my cousin sprinted out of the house to survive. I was out for blood.

Sitting there and watching UK miss about every shot they took in 2009. There was so much excitement that was the year we'd bring home #8 and to see it stripped away was tough.

I am not a lifelong UK fan- I became one when I moved to Kentucky in 1998. For me, Ronell and Donell Taylor are up there with BCG and Rick Pitino as some of the most hated names in my house!

The Wall year? That was 2010...

D Wade putting up a triple double and taking UK down hurt pretty bad. That one sticks out in my mind of some reason.

Seeing Kenyon in street clothes and his leg in a cast in 2000. Brutal...

Yeah my bad, it started in 09. The tournament was in 2010. Still painful.

Not half as brutal as watching the break itself. My stomach still turns thinking about it....
