Bach/Weyer contribute heavily to Bellarmine 29-3 season

Bellarmine finished a strong 29-3 season losing to Findlay in the NCAA II round of 16 by a score of 74-73. Bellarmine posted outstanding team offensive stats, averaging 78.8 ppg while shooting 53% FGs, 40.7% 3FGs, and 77.3% FTs. The program saw 10 players earning 17+ minutes per game, with All American Adam Eberhardt at a high of 28.8 minutes. Coach Davenport plays a high-paced structured offense with a heavy focus on pressure defense holding opponents to only 62 ppg. To play at Bellarmine you have to be able to shoot and defend exceptionally well.

Brent Bach, Sr., led the team in scoring at 17.0 ppg while shooting a torrid 57.3% FGs, 45.7% 3FGs, and 76.6% FTs. He led the team in scoring 14 games and topped 20 pts in 11. He was 2nd on the team at 27.9 mpg, and averaged 3.2 rebounds and only 1.2 TOs. He was named 2nd Team All Midwest District by the NABC, 1st Team All GLVC, MVP of Cesar Odeo Tournament, and a GLVC Player of the Week. This was an exciting year for the "Augusta Rifle"....announcers branded him that... as he wraps up his college playing with graduation in May.

Ben Weyer, So., was 4th on team playing 21.2 mpg, 4th at 8.7 ppg, while shooting 47.2%FGs, 41.2% 3FGs, and 75.0% FTs. He avg 4.0 rebs and will be looked to as even more of a key player in the rotation next year.

Bellarmine unfortunately had their post season run cut short when they lost 6'7" big man C. Corbett with 7 games left in the season and a back injury to 6'8" All American Adam Eberhardt severly limited his mobility the last two months. Not excuses, just facts and limited depth in most college front lines. The 74-73 NCAA playoff loss to Findlay came on an incidental three shot foul on a desparation corner shot with 0.5 on the clock. Findlay player hits first two and misses 3rd. Game over.
