The BluegrassPreps voters chose wisely again this past week.

In 6A Poll threads for ranked teams last week, the voters were a perfect 5 for 5.

#4 Male (7-2) lost to #3 St. Xavier (7-1) 27-0.

#5 Pleasure Ridge Park (5-2) defeated #9 Manual (3-5) 14-7.

#6 Simon Kenton (9-0) beat Campbell County (5-3) 65-40.

#7 Butler (5-3) defeated Eastern (3-5) 20-10.

#8 Ryle (6-2) defeated Conner (4-4) 54-28.

The season total for winners picked in threads with polls is 52 of 57 for 91.2% accuracy for 2017.

The schedule for BluegrassPreps Top Ten this week:

1. Trinity (9-0) at #11 Ballard (5-3)

2. Scott County (7-2) at #5 Pleasure Ridge Park (6-2)

3. St. Xavier (7-1) vs. #8 Butler (6-3)

4. Male (7-2) at #9 Manual (3-5)

5. Pleasure Ridge Park (6-2) vs. #2 Scott County

6. Simon Kenton (9-0) vs. #7 Ryle (6-2)

7. Ryle (6-2) at #6 Simon Kenton (9-0)

8. Butler (6-3) at #3 St. Xavier (7-1)

9. Manual (3-5) vs. #4 Male (7-2)

10. Frederick Douglass (6-2) vs. Henry Clay (4-4)

Every game involving the first nine has an individual thread with a poll posted. That brings this week’s total number of games for fans to choose a winner to seven. I see one possible upset. I am taking Ryle over Simon Kenton as the Raiders play ball control. The Raiders must not suffer from the turnover bug as they have the past two weeks.

Trinity, Scott County, St. Xavier, and Male should take care of business.

Trinity has beaten Ballard 25 times in a row and owns a 45-5 series lead dating to 1972. The Bruins have a couple of key players out. Trinity is expected to play WR Rondale Moore and LB Nick Cardosi this week.

Scott County makes a rare trip into Jefferson County to play Pleasure Ridge Park. The Panthers have played well this season. The Cardinals are on a slightly higher level and should take a win back to Georgetown.

St. Xavier has regained their focus and will handle Butler on Paul M. Young Field. The Tigers played very well on both sides of the ball in their game versus long-time rival Male last week. Butler defeated Eastern last week. St. Xavier is simply better all around.

Male will rebound against Manual this week in the Commonwealth’s longest running series. Talent usually wins games, especially when the coaching staffs are equal. The Crimsons are headed in the right direction under Coach Carmony. The Crimsons have not arrived yet. Even with several players out with injury, the Bulldogs have enough good players to win on both sides of the line of scrimmage. This may be a tight game score wise, with Male having the edge in the end.

The game involving the #10 Frederick Douglass Broncos and the #15 Henry Clay Blue Devils is of note. A Broncos win would secure the number two seed in District 7 for Frederick Douglass in their first season of competition. Again, talent and the highly touted new coaching staff at Frederick Douglass gives the edge to the Broncos.

Outside the top ten finds the Central Hardin (5-3) vs. North Hardin (3-5) contest is of most importance. This is for the District 2 title. I am going with the underdog Trojans due their slightly more dominant win over Meade County 40-26 on October 6. North has had two weeks to prepare for this titanic struggle and this gives them a slight edge as well.

Tates Creek (6-2) is currently #13 in our 6A BluegrassPreps rankings. The Commodores take on defending state runner-up Lafayette (3-6) in a game deciding the District 8 winner. The Creekers are 2-0 in the district and are heavily favored over the Generals.

The district leaders in Class 6A:

1. McCracken County (3-0) district champions

2. North Hardin & Central Hardin (1-0) play this Friday

3. St. Xavier (3-0) district champions

4. Ballard and Trinity (3-0) play October 20 at Ballard

5. Ryle (2-0) district champions

6. Simon Kenton (2-0) district champions

7. Scott County (4-0) district champions

8. Tates Creek (2-0) odds on favorite
