Rankings after Week 1:

1.Calloway County, 2-0, nothing has changed with them. Until they get beat they will be #1. Parker Adams and Skyler Hunter led them in both victories.

2.Paducah Tilghman, 2-0, impressive wins last week. Fulton County appears to be not as good as expected but the Tornadoes rolled against them and the Comets. Balanced scoring was big for PT. They are going 9-10 deep. Big week from 8th grader, Rodriquez Thomas.

3. McCracken County, 1-1, Won on Friday @ Ballard Memorial and lost to Lincoln County in the Marshall County Hoopfest. Balanced scoring was the key for the Mustangs in Week 1.

4. Marshall County, 2-1, Won against Ballard Memorial in a closer than expected game. Beat Dyersburg, TN and lost to Owensboro in the Marshall County Hoopfest. Mason Wooten didn’t disappoint going for 24, 22, and 16.

5. Murray, 2-1, beat Fulton City and Hickman County, TN. They lost to Evangelical Christian, TN

6. Graves County, 2-0, Coach Josh Frick got his first victory of his career against Massac County and an impressive road win @ Ohio County. They have been helped by the return of Eamon Hannon.

7. Carlisle County, 2-1, Defeated St. Mary and CCA and lost to Paducah Tilghman on the road. Ethan Weatherspoon had 24, 24, and 13 to lead the Comets. Comets also got some good news with Austin and Codie Bailey being ruled eligible. It gives the Comets much needed size.

8. Ballard Memorial, 2-1, won easily vs. Fulton City. Lost to both Marshall and McCracken County. The loss at Marshall was closer than expected losing 57-51.

9. St. Mary, 1-1, The Vikings maybe better than expected with some players coming out that didn’t play last year. They lost a close game on the road @ Carlisle County. They beat Hickman County @ home.

10. Mayfield, They have not played yet due to football. They play Hickman County and Fulton City this week.

Games of the week:

Tuesday:

-Calloway @ McCracken, a matchup of preseason top ranked teams. McCracken is still trying to find itself with so many that graduated last year. Calloway returns 4 starters.

Friday:

-Marshall @ McCracken, another matchup of preseason top ranked teams that are still trying to establish themselves among the top teams.

-Calloway Co. @ Graves County, interesting story line. Terry Birdsong goes back to Graves after leaving there to go to Calloway County.

-Hickman County @ Carlisle County, Early 1st District matchup. No rivalry is more heated especially with the transfer of Austin and Colie Bailey from Hickman County to Carlisle County.

-Murray @ Paducah Tilghman, Both teams trying to establish themselves as top ranked teams. PT was impressive last week in their two wins. Murray went 2-1 and was impressive as well.

-Ballard Memorial @ St. Mary, may not look big outside of the region but this is a game between two teams that could make some noise in the All A in January. St. Mary has dominated this game the past couple of years.

Saturday:

-Carlisle County vs. Webster County. This game is part of the Messenger Tip Off Classic held @ Hopkins County Central. Should be a good test for both teams.

Calloway handles McCracken easily, 68-44

Carlisle County upsets Marshall County, 58-57

Mayfield blows out Hickman County, 75-50

Fulton City gets 1st win vs. CFS, 56-20

Graves loses to Martin Westview, TN, 61-51

Paducah Tilghman beats CCA 98-31

Calloway County has a friendly schedule. How good are they? I don't see them losing many games this season but I don't feel like their schedule will give us an accurate look at them.

They are solid but you are right they don't play much outside of the 1st Region. They are hands down favorite. Right now I think the only team that can give them trouble is Paducah TIlghman because of their quickness. Murray might be the 2nd team that could take them.
