'twas not a 415 HR, but nonetheless CCH was bested by Boone today.

I was impressed with the catcher for Boone, his hitting is tremendous. They have a good solid five, but the bottom of their order isn't great. I think they are hot hitting right now, but I don't know about best in the region. Nor have I seen all of the teams in the region so.. CovCath needed to lose at some point, and now they need to refocus, get it together, and move on from it. All is good..they are still the best team up here, and hopefully this lights a fire for them to prove it even more.

Nonetheless, I do not see one of them being pitcher in Louisville. The seeding game is a must win.

Do they have it? Hmm..at this point they have a very good pitcher in Isler, their ace, and a solid 2 in Nutini. Krumme is becoming a very good number 3. The question is, will they use their top 2? They have a seeding game that following Monday, so I'd venture to say either Isler or Nutini will not be pitching next weekend, but I'm not sure because they may want to show what they are all about verse the best of the best.

I will take Ryle by 5. Boone looked like a hot mess yesterday.

Being given nothing to hit IMO is the same thing. If it is not hittable, it's either a very well placed strike, or a ball. So being given nothing=purposely being walked. I've seen it, and unfortunately a lot of the time it is the pitcher just not throwing well. And Maile knows the strike zone and does not swing at junk. Do I think it's a coincendence our best hitters get walked a lot? Eh probably not, but I don't think they are being given nothing..

Sounds like a good game, and a great outting for Gerwe. It's nice to see CovCath get a little more depth on their pitching. While I understand that you think teams are pitching bad to Maile, I have been to most of the games aside from todays, but it seems like he is getting walks like the rest of them. I do not think they are intentionally walking our big hitters, as it looks like Maile, Darner and Isler had six walks combined today. I think it has more to do with those three having a good eye for balls and strikes and being selective and smart at the plate. And if they were going to intentionally walk anyone at this point it would be Darner..only problem is if you walk him, you face Isler. If you walk Maile you face Darner who is a bigger threat at this point. Just seems we have some smart ball players at CovCath.

Where are most of the errors occuring in the field?

Nice to see Covcath move up and get a little more recognition!

By the way, I also think CovCath's base running needs some work still...just seems like we have people thrown out more often than not.

I do not think Boone pitched their best, but they went through three, so who knows. CCH started with Krumme who did well until he started getting hit in the fourth. They then brought in Shumate who just didn't have it today at all. Darner came in for the last part of the fifth inning and the sixth to finish it out. He is good for an inning, and he throws hard, but when the batter connects, it's a hard hard hit. CCH desperately needs some relief.

I think CovCath is beginning to make a statement with their last two wins. This game should have been over sooner, but unfortunately after our top 3 pitchers we see a significant drop off. Shumate usually does much better than he did tonight and I'm positive he'll be fine, but I hope that is sooner than later. The starting pitcher for Boone was wild. And after that it did not get much better. Boone just didn't look very good to me today, and at times I was scared when they fielded a ball in the infield as they didn't seem like they could even get it over to first. The weather is without a doubt terrible, but I really expected more, and I'm sure we'll see better out of them in the future. Their catcher hit the heck out of the ball! Please let there be some baseball weather from here on out, this just isn't baseball appropriate lol.

He isn't the only one. Shuttlesworth at Conner signed with the Navy, who admittedly is academically oriented, but he is a pitcher and he signed with a D1 school. And Isler is getting some pretty good looks/offers from D1 schools. It's not all about the D1 label, it's what you do to get the recognition and at this point Smith has not done anything. He is working through an injury, and I'm sure by the end of the season he will have earned his right to be in the top 5 somewhere.

Heard Nute might be saved for this weekend..

I see CovCath taking this one with either Nutini or Krumme on the mound. I'll say they win by 5 runs or more.

CovCath's biggest challenge will be today against Conner HS at 5. Boone will be a good game, but I don't see them beating the Colonels.

I'd have to go with Isler as the clearcut best I've seen, and Etschied a hair above Nutini. After that it's all kind of the same to me. I'm sure some others will peak my interest at some point.

I'll give you that. Nutini due to his speed might have a shot, although I've heard it's most DIII and NAIA's looking at him. Darner doesn't have size or speed. He can flat out hit a ball, but that isn't all there is to it as I'm sure you know.

I sense your sarcasm lol. There are not 4 D1 prospects on the team. There are a legit two D1's and then two kids who will be outstanding ball players at a DII, DIII, or NAIA school. Darner and Nutini are great ball players, they simply don't have the size and their level of skill isn't quite to D1 caliber, but they will be standouts at whatever school they choose.

As someone who attended the game, yes it was disapppointing that the starting pitcher pitched such a tremendous game, and the defense played so well with the starters and it all literally crumbled when the subs were put in, but at no point did I think that those boys did not deserve to wear that uniform. Schumate usually comes out and does a solid relief job, he just had a rough outting. And Dixie took advantage so good for them. A little over the top to say it was embarassing to see them in a CovCath uniform, yikes.

I agree. CovCath with a 6-0 or 7-0 start should moved up a couple.

Just a couple thoughts: -The right fielder for CovCath needs to be taught some fundamentals of how to play outfield...=/ -Nutini pitched a very nice game. I thought it was going to be a long one the way they were hitting him hard in the first, but he got it under control. Isler and Nutini's pitching is going to be a huge strength for this CovCath team. -Holocher going 2 for 3, and the third hit being a hard one, was great to see! Keep it up. -CovCath's bats have to pick up. We all know they're great hitters, esp Darner, Isler and Maile, but man it's been rough. I know they'll come around, just rather it be sooner than later. With their pitchers pitching the way they have, it would be very hard to lose a game.....IF they start hitting the way they are capable. -Ryle's errors were costly. Etschied pitched well and as one CovCath kid told me, he always does pitch well against CovCath, but the fielding just wasn't there today. Heard the Jv game was a good one too!

I don't doubt he'll end up at a big school by the way. But I think his talent level is more a low d1 or dII school.
