Lexington Christian fined over financial aid to athletes
This is one of many reasons why the KHSAA is a terrible organization, people in Lexington know that Lex. Christiana ctively recruits student athletes in town. Yet the punishment is less than a slap on the wrist.

New Tates Creek Coach???????
It's taking so long because there have been many, many people apply for the job. Not because of the "JR filter" which in actuality is a good thing because unlike most AD's he knows football. Some big names applied, but one has already dropped out do to getting a job offer elsehwere. Look for a new coach in early February.

State Duals
State Duals are Saturday, January 26th at Henry Clay High School. Most years some teams that qualify for state duals choose not to go. The full list of tems will probably be available early next week.

New Tates Creek Coach???????
That has nothing to do with this thread, but obviously this comment comes from having no information or understanding of the delicate balance within Lexington, it really isn't that simple, nor has it ever been. I could go on and on, but this thread is about the new TC coach and it should be kept to that.

New Tates Creek Coach???????
A member of the previous staff was conducting them before the break, however I think there will be a high rate of staff turnover.

New Tates Creek Coach???????
All applications are due by Jan. 11th, There has been quite a lot of interest in this job as it is a very good one. The talent is there, and TC has always had good fan support. I think there are three guys who are leading the pack but unfortunately I cannot say who they are as this info was given to me in confidence. I believ a new coach will be named in February. There will be two series of interviews conducted before the announcement is made.

2007 Herald-Leader Class of the Commonwealth
One thing that needs to be said is that this is not the "All-State" team that the Herald Leader publishes. The Herald Leader publishes the AP All State Team, this is the "Class of the Commonwealth." To be on the Class of the Commonwealth team you must be a senior, it doesn't hurt to have gaudy statistics and I remember that Mike Fields once wrote in a column that the number 1 factor in making this team is college potential. That is not to say that certain players shouldn't be on this list, but it's almost laughable to think that Mike Fields who does have a say on who makes this team, is biased about who makes it based upon circulation figures, anyone who thinks Mike Fields doesn't know or care about high school sports in KY has never spoken to him or been interviewed by him.

Lincoln County 61 DuPont Manual 59
This was a very good game. Manual has a very nice player in Jacob jenkins he was on fire last night. He is a great shooter. Lincoln played a very good game and stuck to their plan of attack. Manual put in their subs at the end of the third and left them in at the beginning of the fourth. Lincoln took full advantage and wiped away the lead that Manual had built.

New Tates Creek Coach???????
If you watched the TC and Trinity playoff game in Lexington from 2000 (which was the game in Lexington) how did the first two series indicate what the final score was? At one point in that game the score was 27-21??? Joe Ruddell does not demand that the ball be run on every play. That was his philosophy. Coach Willoughby chose to continue with that philosophy on his own accord. Coach Ruddell lets his coaches make their own decisions. The biggest problem at TC and I should know more than anyone else on this site is that there was no recruitment of athletes at the school. Whoever came out at the beginning of offseason weights was who played. No attempt was made to attract the atheltes who could have been convinced to play after a little bit of attention from a coach. I played at TC from 98-01 and we were really good, but it is a misnomer that we never passed the ball, 3 of the 4 years our QB threw for over 1,000 yards. In 2001 David Hamilton threw for over 1500 yards. Son of Bear and Strongopenyon have it right that we had a lot more talent on those teams, but the talent is still in the school building. On another note, here are some potential candidates (I am not sure if any of these people have inquired, these are coaches are RUMORED to be interested or have prior connections to TC: Mike Harmon Lafayette, Robbie Sayre Lafayette, Jason Chappell So. Laurel, Scott Carmony JTown, John Griggs (former Boyle Co., and West Jess coach), Mark Catlett (former Ballard HC, and TC grad), Steve Stonebraker (Garrard Co.).

Johnson Central Holiday Classic Dual Tournament
Yes, it was a good one too. Sheldon Clark led 40-36 with the 103's left and TC needed a pin to win. TC has a really good 103 named Zac Brown, who got the pin and a team win for the Creek.

Johnson Central Holiday Classic Dual Tournament
Tates Creek did indeed win last night. Johnson Central was second. I believe TC had 8 of their wrestlers medal so it was a very productive day. The best dual of the day was Creek vs. Johnson Central is was a back and forth battle, all of the other teams were watching and so were most of the fans, it was a dandy.

Mark Willoughby out at Tates Creek
Whoever gets the job at Tates Creek will have as much administrative support as they need. Joe Ruddell is a football guy and will insure that all needs are met.

Mark Willoughby out at Tates Creek
Word on the street is that 11 candidates have surfaced, and have already been spoken to. In my opinion it will come doen to three men. I really would like to mention names, but it is not my place. This job will be filled by someone within the family. If that does not happen then I would be shocked. I think that of the three that are the strongest contenders, a definite hierarchy has emerged and I look for this job to be filled quickly.

Mark Willoughby out at Tates Creek
As someone who played on Coach Willoughby's very first team, this news makes me very sad. The one thing I'll always know is that no matter where he ends up he will always be a Commodore to me.

Fayette County Feeder Programs
It used to drastically inhibit many players development in Lexington but with the proliferation of the AAU circuit I don't see it as being as big of deal. However some schools have groups of kids that play together for years and this lads to great chemistry which the Fayette Co. atmosphere cannot match.

Regional Outlooks for 2007-2008
For the 7th region: Teams Woodford Co. PLD Henry Clay Lafayette Montgomery Co. Tates Creek Franklin Co. Harrison Co. Bourbon Co. Bryan Station Western Hills This order could change: TC is really young and will improve, Harrison is missing the footballers and PLD may or may not fill the weight classes

Tates Creek 46 Ryle 43
Tates Creek is going to be a good team this year. Before the season started I didn't realize how young this team will be. TC doe shave three seniors in Sparks, Stone and Spaulding however Stone and Spaulding have not had nearly any practice time due to injuries and football. Also trying to get a bunch of sophs and froshs acclimated to the high school climate can be difficult. As the season progresses TC will improve however the record may not indicate it due to the rugged 11th region and TC's extremely dificult OOD schedule. I didn't get to see the game last night, but from a Ryle fan's perspective, you have to be pleased with the prospects for this season. I really think Ryle may prove to be a darkhorse in the 9th.

Mason County vs Bryan Station 11/30
I really think that this game will come dow to one thing. Can Mason Co., get the ball up court against Station's press and will they be able to get their shots off against a very atheltic team. I believe the answer will be yes. Mason Co.'s difference maker in this game will Trevor Setty his ability to hit from the perimeter will take pressure off of Miller and keep Station from sagging into the lane and trying to silence Miller. I believe this one will be close but Mason Co. will eventually pull it out. Mason Co. 66 Bryan Station 62
