Sounds like Mercer is getting alot of slack after some very very good ball games. Close ball games build character. I say Mercer grows up this week and wins. Mercer will be tough to handle the rest of the way and any District foes who beat them will not want to play them again in the playoffs....State Championship is a huge ???? Just like every class. The year is still young!
Only loss in the 87 championship year was to St. X. Came off with a big win against Highlands in the first game , then lost to St. X (????Could have been Trinity???) and then won 13 in a row I believe.:dancingpa
Lancaster was tough!
The 87 backfield with TimMcDaniel at fullback, Donnie Redd, DA DA Walker and Mike Clevenger at quarterback. I think all 3 backs rushed for 1,000yards....not to mention winning last 13 in a row for the Championship!
That 87 team is being honored in Danville on Friday night as well!!!!!:thumb:
Maybe so! Last years team went on to the semis and was dominated by a team who was dominated by a Louisville school... So, do you look to the past or the future? Numbers are up. Freshman team is fielding 40+ players, more than the Varsity had last year. They will take there lumps, but will be a better program in the long run!:flame:
And I believe they made it to the Semis that year and brought home a state championship the next. After the first 3 games in 1988, they wanted Harp gone! Its a great thing he stuck around!!!
You have to like Danville. They play one heck of a pre-District schedule that will toughen them up for the playoffs and they have a couple of studs to boot!
Sounds like the making of a great game. Hopefully someone will be able to give a play by play of=n the site. Does anyone know if the broadcast can be found online? I will be out of state!
