  1. Nope. Jim VonHandorf is his dad. Graduated in 1986 from CCH. Played football, basketball and baseball all 4 years. Went on to play football at EKU. Great athlete and great guy.
  2. He did coach at CCH fot at least a couple years. Great person for sure. After High School I would run into him on the softball field. I remember thinking what is this old dude doing playing softball against 20 year old guys. Then once you saw him play you would understand. He could flat out play the game!
  3. It was not something that happened prior to 1986 with Coach Ray as the Head Coach. Maybe that changed in the late 80s.
  4. Excellent post. The "system" is broken and I hate to say it but I think it is beyond repair.
  5. I would say that is part of it. The other part is that if you want to pursue volleyball then you need to play club volleyball. Club teams start practicing in November or December. Some clubs will not excuse you from missing practice due to High School basketball. Some will but it is a very busy schedule to try to do both. Same problem comes up when softball season gets here. The club season gets over in May. Some of the more serious clubs can play up to July or so.
  6. Madison Salkowski is not going to play basketball from what i have been told. She is going to concentrate on volleyball. There are several very good freshmen at NDA making that same decision.
  7. Should we start a new thread " Who will be the next Head Coach at St. Henry?"?
  8. Not sure if she is planning on playing softball but Karlee Schrieber transferred from NDA to St. Henry. She pitched for NDA for the first half of last season before leaving the team. She is a pretty good pitcher.
  9. I have seen it happen in softball, volleyball and baseball. I am sure it happens in other sports too. There are no eligibility issues if the athlete does not attend that school for high school.
  10. That will be a big loss. They have quite a few young guys in the pipeline that have the potential to do very well.
  11. There are ways around those rules too. I know of people living in Ky and having an address in Ohio so that they can go to school and play sports in Ohio.
  12. Duane Davis. Boone County class of 1986. Went to EKU.
  13. Why would the Flames schedule the Spikes the night before their own tourney? The Spikes are the biggest threat to beat the Flames.
  14. He has played in league games also. He pitched against the Spikes on a weds night at Prasco Park.
  15. I thought all of this happens quickly. Just going off of how it went with Zachs deal.
  16. It is a done deal. Zach leaves Saturday and is headed to Arizona. Good luck Zach!
  17. What about the cost of turning the lights on? I have always heard that it is fairly expensive to fire them up. Or maybe that is a bunch of bologna?
  18. Sorry to get this thread off track but the 12u Flames are kind of like the older Midland team. They have a few kids from around the country that plays with them in certain tournaments. Very hard to compete with that. When they play with their local kids only they are still very good but beatable. Travis Beck is their head coach and he is very good at finding superstars that will travel to play. Very good coaching staff on that team. Back to frosh baseball.
  19. Neighbors are in your top 4 reasons for it taking so long to get lights. What have the neighbors done to prevent CCH from having lights? Should the neighbors pitch in and pay for the lights? Sounds like a little bit of your "blame" goes to the neighbors.
  20. Sorry, I did not intend to say that you are placing "blame" on the neighbors. What I am trying to say is that the general opinion is that the only reason for no lights is because the neighbors object to them. The original plans that were presented to the City of Park Hills did not have lights, bleachers or a concession building on the visitors side of the field. The plans were approved and the neighbors were assured that any changes in the future would have to be approved by the City and Area Planning AND that the neighbors would be consulted.
  21. And that is the biggest concern for neighbors. It is not the couple times a week that people are worried about. It is the 5 to 7 nights a week that the lights could be on. Will there be time that the lights must go off? Will they rent the field out? Will they use the PA system past a certain time? Will they keep the area between the new press box/building maintained and clean. I am skeptical because in the past there has been little to no regard of CCH being a good neighbor. Please understand that I am all for CCH getting lights and a new press box/ building. Most rational people would have these concerns if they owned property that was in the same situation.
