10th Region All A Tournament Team
Did they know before that night? IMO this is a ridiculous conversation, I mean seriously is it really that big of a deal?

Cantrall's Boys State Rating
Clark that high and Montgomery nowhere to be found?

St. Patricks 67 Deming 64
Not difficult. The 10th region ALL A coaches get together a week before the tourney and vote 1-9 on seeding. By then each coach should have had a chance to see each other. The vote wouldn't always be exactly right, but it would be pretty close, or close enough to make it fair.

St.Patrick vs. Deming
The winner of tonight's game has to face Augusta next, then the winner of Brossart and Paris, then whoever comes out of the lower bracket. This tournament should be seeded somehow. It could add to the regular season.

Jealousy And Spite Alive In 10th Region
Alright then let's take it out to the playground and have people bring lawn chairs. No advantages there. If it gets dark parents can pull their cars up and turn on their headlights. But seriously, couldn't the tourney be taken to another region so you could have true neutrality or is that too hard? The set up of these tournaments are ridiculous anyway with homecourt advantages and no seeding.

Jealousy And Spite Alive In 10th Region
This could probably all be settled by holding the tourney at St. Pat, Augusta, or Silver Grove! HA!

Ref question
I have seen that called several times this year.

St. Patrick's Nick Anderson Scores 1,000th Point
Congrats to Nick, a very underrated player with one of the best shots off the dribble that I have ever seen. Anyone who can score 1,000 and be as unselfish as Nick is, is truly a special player.

Juniors playing J.V.
No way! If you can't find 5-8 players in grades 8-11, you should not have a JV program.

Juniors playing J.V.
Good point. If you have loaded senior class, and the juniors are good as well, and will be carrying the load next year, then they must get that playing time that they wouldn't if they had to sit behind seniors.

Kids Quitting
It's a thankless job at most programs. You certainly don't do it for money, its a love of the sport, being a part of a team, and the competitive drive that keep most going. Unfortunately, a great many men and women get driven out of the profession, because they start to realize the scrutiny, lack of pay and countless hours, do not balance anymore with the positives that first attracted them to coaching. Obviously there are some more prestigious, schools and some ambitious coaches looking to move up the ladder, but I think most coaches fit the first description.

Kids Quitting
Agreed it is better they quit than stay and be a cancer to the team.

Kids Quitting
Yes if kids feel that they are never going to make it, or aren't good enough, they can quit, and it probably wouldnt be detrimental to the team. I don't think we're talking about those kinds of kids. If kids are angry that they are not getting the ball enough, or asked to do the dirty work, or asked go by certain rules and quits because they can't handle criticism, then there is a problem. I know some schools discourage, or frown upon cutting players, because it will "hurt a kids feelings" or make someone angry. Well, it isn't going to make things any better keeping a bunch of kids around who will probably never play, disillusioned that they are good because they made the team. The best thing to be done for this kid is to be cut. What ever happened to learning from failure, to work hard and improve and prove yourself?

Kids Quitting
I could not agree more. Most expect to be given everything. Parents are a huge problem, but I also blame the media. Just one example ESPN. They are desperate to find "stars" on teams, for whatever reason, but like with the Colts and the 90's Cowboys they like to talk about the "triplets". Manning, Harrison, James or Aikman, E.Smith, and Irvin. Seriously the best part of all those teams was the o-line not to mention the defense. They do not like "teams" in the truest sense of the word. Look how they cover the NBA. Lebron this and Kobe that. Guess what the Spurs are one of the greatest dynasties in the history of the NBA. They dont get near the pub that Shaq, Kobe, and Lebron get. Why? They play as a team, and when they try to make stars of Duncan and Parker, those two are smart enough to understand that it is about the team not individuals. That's why they just keep doing it. Look at college basketball. The teams with the "superstar" high school recruits never make it very far, unless they have a team around them and buy into the team concept. When is the last time the NCAA's leading scorer was on a Championship team? I've heard it said before, if you want to give individual glory, play golf, tennis or run track. Team sports are at their best when stars put egos aside and do what the team needs to win. Sorry for the rambling.

Deming @ Bellevue
I'm not sure offense is the problem. They scored 87 points last game.

Deming Vs Fleming Co. Thoughts/Predictions 1/4
Nick Anderson did a pretty good job on him.

Deming Vs Fleming Co. Thoughts/Predictions 1/4
I'm not talking about size as in height. I'm referring to girth, anyway I actually like Deming here, but I think they need to get up and down as much as possible.
-
Deming Vs Fleming Co. Thoughts/Predictions 1/4
Couldn't agree more, to beat Fleming you must take away the two boys in the middle they are strong and hard to handle, and rarely get charges called on them. I'm not sure Deming has the size to handle that, thus the reason to pick up the tempo. I know Dugan is quick, but Deming has some quick boys too.

Deming Vs Fleming Co. Thoughts/Predictions 1/4
At Deming, I like the Devils, but at Fleming it will be tough. If Deming can up the tempo and make Fleming's bigs a non-factor I like their chances.

Parenting Question?
All I am saying is that coaches are an easy target. Most dedicate their lives to the profession, and it is certainly not for money. In the situation described in this thread, the team was doing well, but the parent is worried about the individual success of his or her child. Do you really think the coach should mess with what is obviously working to appease this parent that wants the spotlight for his/her kid?
-
Parenting Question?
Well that is easy to say, but the fact is most parents have no clue as to the challenges and pressures to which coaches are subjected. Who is more likely to be biased about a child? The coach or the parent? I am sure that there have some situations where coaches have had personal issues with a parent, but I would say 99% of these problems arise due to the fact that parents have the blinders on.
-
Parenting Question?
Players play, coaches coach, and parents need to step aside, shut up and appreciate the TEAM!

St Pat 70 Deming 52
He didn't say they would "most likely to play Deming". He said most likely to play Deming, Augusta, AND Brossart.

St Pat 70 Deming 52
Has there ever been talk of seeding this tournament? This bracket doesn't make much sense.
