  1. :dancingpa:dancingpa Best argument period. Drawing makes no sense! Why make luck such a huge factor when, at least in this situation, it can be eliminated?:dancingpa
  2. How bout Weathers? I think getting the closer was the big thing. Moving everyone down one place in that pen and getting rid of stanton were the things that stuck out to me. IMO it would also been great to add one more solid #2or 3 type starter in case all these young guys don't pan out. In a weak division we're lookin good.
  3. What could the other intentions be? To run up a score on a St. Pat freshman team? Does anyone really get all that excited about the outcome of freshman and jv games? They are for development, are they not? The program is judged by the varsity product period, so absolutely he should be allowed to play, especially in that circumstance, of preparing for the Frosh tourney. I dont think anyone at St. Pat would argue that. I could see some circumstances in larger schools where this could be problematic, but not in this one.
  4. Yeah, that is ridiculous. I know it wasn't planned to work that way, but it seems these teams play each other WAY too much.
  5. Did they know before that night? IMO this is a ridiculous conversation, I mean seriously is it really that big of a deal?
  6. Clark that high and Montgomery nowhere to be found?
  7. Not difficult. The 10th region ALL A coaches get together a week before the tourney and vote 1-9 on seeding. By then each coach should have had a chance to see each other. The vote wouldn't always be exactly right, but it would be pretty close, or close enough to make it fair.
  8. The winner of tonight's game has to face Augusta next, then the winner of Brossart and Paris, then whoever comes out of the lower bracket. This tournament should be seeded somehow. It could add to the regular season.
  9. Honestly though, the worst coach...Tim Floyd. He'd trade his soul and his players' souls for a pack of gum and a half drunk can of dr. pepper.
  10. High School Coaching = Teaching College Coaching = Recruiting NBA Coaching = Look Good In A Suit
  11. Alright then let's take it out to the playground and have people bring lawn chairs. No advantages there. If it gets dark parents can pull their cars up and turn on their headlights. But seriously, couldn't the tourney be taken to another region so you could have true neutrality or is that too hard? The set up of these tournaments are ridiculous anyway with homecourt advantages and no seeding.
  12. This could probably all be settled by holding the tourney at St. Pat, Augusta, or Silver Grove! HA!
  13. Unfortunately the mishandling of the Oline (Steinbach), has forced them to address this need ASAP. I know the offense put up yards this season, but it was not the same offense that could carry the team. They at least have to have a difference making offense or defense. They are closer on offense so I say go with Jake Long.
  14. He is a great college qb, but I don't think it translates to the NFL. I know he's bigger than other running qb's before him, but what qb that has used the RUN to set up the PASS has ever panned out? Not to mention, if sophomores were eligible it would ruin the NFL just like the young kids have ruined the NBA.
  15. I have seen that called several times this year.
  16. Wisconsin beat Texas on their home court so I guess Texas is overrated, and I don't think Michigan State is ever overrated. They always play a good schedule and Izzo is as good as they come.
  17. Congrats to Nick, a very underrated player with one of the best shots off the dribble that I have ever seen. Anyone who can score 1,000 and be as unselfish as Nick is, is truly a special player.
  18. No way! If you can't find 5-8 players in grades 8-11, you should not have a JV program.
  19. Good point. If you have loaded senior class, and the juniors are good as well, and will be carrying the load next year, then they must get that playing time that they wouldn't if they had to sit behind seniors.
  20. It's a thankless job at most programs. You certainly don't do it for money, its a love of the sport, being a part of a team, and the competitive drive that keep most going. Unfortunately, a great many men and women get driven out of the profession, because they start to realize the scrutiny, lack of pay and countless hours, do not balance anymore with the positives that first attracted them to coaching. Obviously there are some more prestigious, schools and some ambitious coaches looking to move up the ladder, but I think most coaches fit the first description.
  21. Agreed it is better they quit than stay and be a cancer to the team.
  22. Yes if kids feel that they are never going to make it, or aren't good enough, they can quit, and it probably wouldnt be detrimental to the team. I don't think we're talking about those kinds of kids. If kids are angry that they are not getting the ball enough, or asked to do the dirty work, or asked go by certain rules and quits because they can't handle criticism, then there is a problem. I know some schools discourage, or frown upon cutting players, because it will "hurt a kids feelings" or make someone angry. Well, it isn't going to make things any better keeping a bunch of kids around who will probably never play, disillusioned that they are good because they made the team. The best thing to be done for this kid is to be cut. What ever happened to learning from failure, to work hard and improve and prove yourself?
  23. I could not agree more. Most expect to be given everything. Parents are a huge problem, but I also blame the media. Just one example ESPN. They are desperate to find "stars" on teams, for whatever reason, but like with the Colts and the 90's Cowboys they like to talk about the "triplets". Manning, Harrison, James or Aikman, E.Smith, and Irvin. Seriously the best part of all those teams was the o-line not to mention the defense. They do not like "teams" in the truest sense of the word. Look how they cover the NBA. Lebron this and Kobe that. Guess what the Spurs are one of the greatest dynasties in the history of the NBA. They dont get near the pub that Shaq, Kobe, and Lebron get. Why? They play as a team, and when they try to make stars of Duncan and Parker, those two are smart enough to understand that it is about the team not individuals. That's why they just keep doing it. Look at college basketball. The teams with the "superstar" high school recruits never make it very far, unless they have a team around them and buy into the team concept. When is the last time the NCAA's leading scorer was on a Championship team? I've heard it said before, if you want to give individual glory, play golf, tennis or run track. Team sports are at their best when stars put egos aside and do what the team needs to win. Sorry for the rambling.
  24. I'm not sure offense is the problem. They scored 87 points last game.
