  1. I'm not talking about size as in height. I'm referring to girth, anyway I actually like Deming here, but I think they need to get up and down as much as possible.
  2. Couldn't agree more, to beat Fleming you must take away the two boys in the middle they are strong and hard to handle, and rarely get charges called on them. I'm not sure Deming has the size to handle that, thus the reason to pick up the tempo. I know Dugan is quick, but Deming has some quick boys too.
  3. At Deming, I like the Devils, but at Fleming it will be tough. If Deming can up the tempo and make Fleming's bigs a non-factor I like their chances.
  4. All I am saying is that coaches are an easy target. Most dedicate their lives to the profession, and it is certainly not for money. In the situation described in this thread, the team was doing well, but the parent is worried about the individual success of his or her child. Do you really think the coach should mess with what is obviously working to appease this parent that wants the spotlight for his/her kid?
  5. Well that is easy to say, but the fact is most parents have no clue as to the challenges and pressures to which coaches are subjected. Who is more likely to be biased about a child? The coach or the parent? I am sure that there have some situations where coaches have had personal issues with a parent, but I would say 99% of these problems arise due to the fact that parents have the blinders on.
  6. Players play, coaches coach, and parents need to step aside, shut up and appreciate the TEAM!
  7. He didn't say they would "most likely to play Deming". He said most likely to play Deming, Augusta, AND Brossart.
  8. Has there ever been talk of seeding this tournament? This bracket doesn't make much sense.
  9. I hope all of you that call them overrated have seen them play. Moeller, St. X and many of the other GCL schools are never "overrated". They play one of the most difficult schedules in the country year in and year out. I'm not sure if you know how Ohio basketball works but Moeller and St. X played for the D-I state title last year. You are talking about a perennial NATIONAL powerhouse. Anytime you question the scoring margin past 20+, you are splitting hairs. Many coaches have class, and decide to not run the score up, rather get everyone playing time and work on half court sets. I recently witnessed a game in which one school could have beaten another by 80. What would be the point of that? All I am saying is that when you bash a team that does it year in and year out for a flimsy reason like margin of victory, you just sound like a hater.
  10. Does anyone have results? Are any of these games being broadcasted? If so where?
  11. I think a high school shot clock is impractical. You would have to be able to get them at every school, which would be very difficult. I think it would be bad for the development of TEAM ball as well, and players would force more bad shots and make more poor decisions than they already do. Let these boys learn how to play the game. Add the shot clock at the next level for the fans. Just my opinion. ESPN and the influence of the NBA have already done severe damage to the development of players. Think about how many times you see sloppy shots go up, or horrible passes, or poor defense. There are not many kids that can knock down the mid range jumper anymore. Why? Because all they see on TV highlights are dunks and threes. No defense? Poor passing? Watch the NBA. There is nothing like high school basketball. We should protect it.
  12. I would agree with that. Many Div I players at the Ohio State tourney last year. From what I have seen I would agree that coaching as a whole is better in KY. Kids play harder and are more disciplined. Of the big schools that were named however, St. X, Moeller, Walnut Hills would blow those teams off the court. The GCL in Cincy is one of the best h.s. athletic conferences in the country.
  13. I'm not sure about more knowledgeable, definitely more passionate, but I agree it would be fun to see. There is no question that some businesses should get together around Maysville and put something on between some of the area schools vs. Brown and Adams County schools in Ohio. It would be huge!
  14. Whoever gets him will be lucky. He does all the little things that it takes to win, and has no ego.
  15. It's easier to have small town success stories when you only have small schools between you and the championship. Every year a small school gets to experience a state championship, and it isn't cheapened because they are DIV.
  16. They were undefeated in the regular season. I think they did lose a scrimmage.
  17. It is great for georgetown, and nobody even cares that it was division IV... imagine that!!!!!!
  18. Darius can fly no doubt, but remember this name...Stephen Mason.
  19. It's all about exposure. I'm sure there are plenty of capable players who are able to play college ball at various levels. In Georgetown,Oh in the early 90's Brian Grant nearly went to Georgetown College and recieved a late offer from Xavier if I'm not mistaken. If that doesn't happen there is a 10+ year NBA career probably gone. The point is you never know, you just keep working and playing hard, and hopefully the right people see you on the right night.
  20. A nice mix of youngsters and veteran experience will lead the saints to a 7 point victory.
