Just an observation. Very few of the recipients were present to receive their awards. Dustin Staggs may have been the only non-participant to be in attendance, and Coach Cary Barr accepted for the recipient from Paris. I was doing other things at the time of the presentations and may have missed someone.

 

I think that these recipients are selected by their respective coaching staffs. Out of respect to the Touchstone Energy folks who spend big bucks to sponsor this event and respect for the tournament itself, I would think that the honorees would make an effort to attend. I think that they would have been at Deming on Saturday night if their team was in the finals.

Can't agree with you more! Augusta was the only team that had a player in attendance to recieve his award along with the Coach from Paris picking up his. Would hope that if the kids were unable to attend - the school would send a representative to pick up awards - such as a coach or athletic director? Quite an honor to be given and then not even show up??... hmmm...

Now you can't tell me that the Brossart and Calvary boys would have been there if they were not in the finals...come on. Yea it is an honor but if you dont have to suit up to play why come? That shouldn't even be mentioned...a little too picky i think.

I remember driving through the snow to Paris for the 2000 "A" Finals with Justin Seiter and Dave Enzweiler after having been eliminated in the semis by Nicholas County.

 

To your way of thinking the only persons who should be honored on the all-touranment team would be those participating in the championship game.

If it matters, every player that made the 9th region all a all tournament team was in attendance when St. Henry beat NC the other night...
