What makes Emily a great scorer is also her ability to pass the ball. When she is passing the ball in an efficient manner (especially on breaks) it opens up her entire game because teams cannot double team a great passer and because of this, Emily has had more one on one situations that has enabled her to score at will. She is a great player and it has been fun watching her play throughout her career.

Funny how Russell wanted to get rid of him last year, going to state saved his job. Ashland must not think too highly of his coaching abilities, didnt interview him after he applied when Flynn left. But you are probaly correct on the way the votes went. Russell is slowly becoming the political force that Ashland used to be...maybe you guys should start your own newspaper as well...ha ha

I have said this for about 15 years now, and I am still waiting for a millionaire to give me some backing. Some one (That being me) needs to start just a Ashland Area Sports paper only. Dont have to be daily, just weekly and in tourney time bi-weekly. I am talking from grade school coverage and up. Not college just local grade schools, middle and high schools. It would be self supporting. Who wouldnt want to support their children and grandchildren? Businesses would jump all over this. You are right SB, the Daily Enquirer missed the boat on todays morning paper!

My prediction: Rose Hill 72 Boyd County 61 The difference in the game will be Malloy and Arthur. Boyd will try some junk defense as usual but I believe the Young Guns are ready. I hope the refs clean this mess up early and that the undercuts on Jackson are limited to at least..lets say maybe just 5 this game. Anyone know is officaiting this game come Tuesday night?

Bubba's coach of the year...a toss up between Coach Fraley and Cooksey. Fraley because he has to become a Pat Riley with his abundant of "Young Guns" (That would be a good nickname for the Royals- "Young Guns"...Shooting to Win) sometimes Big Bubba amazes even himself. Cooksey because he had only one starter returning and the rest had very little or no experience at all, no one can deny that Rex has done a great job with what he has. I dont see Fraley as COY not because he is not deserving, but because he is Rose Hill, some are saying here we go again, but like I stated earlier in this post. I believe that Coach Euton had to share COY in 16th Regional girls last year, she should have won it hands down. State runner -up but in some peoples eyes that just wasnt good enough. COY is a joke as is POY. These two catergories should be voted upon based on several stats just not winning games and scoring. Who does more for their team than Alex Barker? I am not suggesting that he is POY. But who does more? If you remove One key player from every team in this region that team is still going to win its share of games, you remove Alex form Fairview this year and they cannot win without him. He is the unsung hero in this region. POY will be political and will probably go to VanHoose, he is good but Barker does more for his team than any other player. COY....I honestly dont think either one of my picks Cooksey or Fraley will win it, because once again it is political. I just want to make this clear about my pick for POY, I am not saying he is the best player in the region, there are several better than him, EUTON, JACKSON, VANHOOSE, FAULKNER, I am just saying he means the most to his team.

I know a few little girls that would do anything to win a game, run in front of a train, bite a snake's head off, oh yeah and do the barking dog play. But you are correct those girls are far and few between, most girls ballers think that a pump fake is stupid looking so they dont do it.

Ty was great but his dad was even better. He has proven that he is a great coach no matter where he is at. He did a great job of coaching his own son, must have been hard at times. His dad was a star at Catlettsburg High School and Kentucky Weslyan College, probably would have played in the pros if he didnt blow his knee out.

I have been hoping to see the "Old Barking Dog" trick play at the end of a game. But that takes nevre, anxiety, and only chance to win mentality. Seen this play about 12 years ago or so on ESPN, it was great and hysterical but not for the losing team.

I am glad that you are not Nostradamus. Let the Region have a Co-Coach of the Year. Sad to say but it happened last year in the 16th Region girls. Coach Euton takes a team to the State Championship game and has to split coach of the year in the region. What a joke, Coach Euton should have been named the only Coach of the year last year in Region, so having said that, I think it is going to be a political vote again anyways with the Boys COY. Maybe its just a RH thing, lets see if Fraley wins the region, wins a game or two down state, then he would probably split coach of the year as well. My only prayer is that the people making the decisions doesnt base it on what they read but they take all elements into consideration. Having said all of that my choise is Bryan Lemaster, crap he cant even be considered...my bad
