Tough and Dirty, all good players. Are we talking tough in the sense they were good players or tough in the sense that they never backed down and played hard?

All Time Toughest Players
Steve could shoot but not physically tough, his brother on the other hand once told UK player Winston Bennett that he was going to take that Gold tooth out of his mouth, the result of that conversation? Four Russell players were taken to hospital for treatment...Winston Bennet now he was a man among boys when he played.

16th Regional Coaches
I remember Charlie and His brother bringing Brandon to the old Russell YMCA and sitting him on that stage, he was only 8 or 9. and Brandon watching all of us play ball in that cracker barrel gym (4 on 4) but the talent that came through that gym was unbelievable back in the late 70's and early 80's. Everyone knew Brandon would do a good job as a coach. The old Russell Y, now that would a good thread to start.

Russell has a GREAT record but that can be decieving. Not saying that they are, just stating that in general. You can win games and still not be playing they way you should be. IMO, the region has no clear cut favorite. It is up for grabs and will be for a couple of years to come. I have seen teams win by twenty and thats great but they should have won by 40, you know what I mean?

16th Regional Coaches
Dont know the count for sure but Zornes has 4-5 regional titles.

16th Regional Coaches
He is up there as well. The 16th has been blessed in the past and also here in the now by a great talent pool of both players and coaches. Rex Cooksey is one of my favorites just because he is so fun to watch, he is a good coach as well but cracks me up watching...he is the energizer rabbit, never quits pacing and talking.

Rose Hill 51 East Carter 47
Do you want to know why this particualr game was played ugly, sloppy, ragged? Did you ever play in a physical dirty game before?

I may be mistaken about this but I am pretty sure that a Raceland player just about got her nose broke. If I am wrong about the two teams then I apologize.

Toughest Kid???

16th Regional Coaches
Zornes certainly was not very appreciated while he was coaching at Boyd. His accomplishments speaks volumes about how good he was. There have been several great coaches in this area that is for sure.

16th Regional Coaches
Jeff Hall is the only coach that I know of to take two (2) different teams from the 16th Region to the State Tournament. Are there any others that have accomplished this?

Funny Himmelfarb but GoRadio will probably get offended...now back to the game. Raider95, lets be honest here, East dont have a player that can play physical with Queen, Terry, or Faulkner. This is not disrespect, this is truth. I am not griping about the physcial part of the game, if East played physical then so what, hats off to them. There is a difference between physical and dirty. I will say this about the 16th Region officials they do a great job of blowing the whistle on RH when they see them play dirty. Hats off to you Refs! But my point is that when other teams are stiff arming, holding jerseys, then call them for the foul as well. I have no gripe or complaint about opposing teams playing hard and physical. My gripe is the dirtyness (is this a word?) that opposing teams play. Most of everyone that reads this thread has missed my main point. Most have focused on the "Conspiracy" part of my post. My main point is that if the officials do not clean this region up early in most games then sooner or later a "Kid", "Player" is going to suffer a real career ending injury. I am not just talking about RH games, I am talking about any game that is played. They (Officials) must set the tone early in the game and stick with it, they can still let them play a little physical but when the cheap shots take place call the foul then threaten them with an ejection if it happens again. I dont know of any other way to explain. I hope this was made simple enough and understood that it is more than a RH thing, it is a player/injury thing. Boyd vs. Raceland ring any bells, players in that game had their bells rung that is for sure.
