Why Russell Repeats in the 16th
You are on the borderline of puerility to think I was downing Russell because I said they would be lucky to win two games. Your hebetude over looks the fact that I was complimenting just how talented Vanhoose is and how much he means to the Russell team. You make Vanhoose out to be a conservator of the region, I simply do not. We have a difference of opinion. Like I posted earlier give my Russell top five all-time an extra year to play for 2 of them and 2 extra years for 3 of them and see what more they would have accomplished. Think about Skaggs for just a minute, when he was 19 he was a Sophomore in College, gee wonder what 2 extra years of age would have meant to him in this region. Comparing Vanhoose to any of the top five of Russell or to Jeff Hall and Steve Skaggs is like comparing G.W. Bush to a Rocket Scientist. I will tip my hat off to Hoose's dad for holding him back, great move my man.

Why Russell Repeats in the 16th
You might as well say that McDavid (2nd on the scoring list at Fabled Ashland your Alma Mater) should be in the regions all time five players as well. Give me a break.

Why Russell Repeats in the 16th
Okay, right. Lets see Mickey Sydenstricker and John Watkins would have out muscled and jumped over him all night long. Tom Roberts was 6'8 and a scoring and rebounding machine. Rick Hensley was a top five POINT GUARD ever to play in this region, and Chris Jones was in a league of his own. Once again I am not bashing Hoose, but because he is the leading scorer in Russell history doesnt make him better than those guys.

Why Russell Repeats in the 16th
I wonder what most of those players at Russell would have done if they were 19 years old their Senior Year? 3 of those top five I named were only 17 when they graduated. All - time leading scorer at any school in this region doesnt impress me much considering how watered down the region has been the last 25 years.

Why Russell Repeats in the 16th
I want to make something very clear....I believe Vanhoose is a great player and I wish him the best. He is a hard worker and will improve his game even more at Evansville. My opinions about Russell's Top Five is not a slam in no way to Vanhoose's ability to play the game. Now having said all that, I still dont think he could score against his dad the human chain saw.

Why Russell Repeats in the 16th
Its my OPINION, Russell Top Five IMO 1. Sydnstricker (D1) 2. Rick Hensley (D1) 3. Tom Roberts (D1) 4. John Watkins (Union College Baseball-Check out his scoring His Senior Year) 5. Chris Jones (Walked on at UK but had offers from Alabama, LSU) Vanhoose is the best to play at Russell since the Chris Jones Era that is for sure. But if you think he rates up there with Skaggs then you have serious basketball IQ. Go and personally ask Vanhoose how well he plays against Skaggs in the summers at the Pool, Skaggs is what 51 years old and still whipping the young guns. To compare him to Skaggs or Hall is just ludicrous.

Why Russell Repeats in the 16th
He might be one of the best (Top Five) since the year 2000 -2007 but give me a break, to say he is one of the best to ever play is a far stretch. He is not even in the all time great five to play at Russell much less the region. Russell will be lucky to win two games without him. I am not criticizing Vanhoose, he has been great in his years that he has played. Thats like Owens last year from Boyd County, He was great no doubt about it, but he is not in Boyd's top five from all time either. I give credit to Hoose but get real. Defense is wonderful but if you cant put the ball through that little orange cylinder then it doesnt matter how much D you play

Forget the Porter Wagner reference. How about "My Favorite Martian", this is an old black and white sitcom that ran in the late 50's - 60's, you either have to be old or just bored to remember this show.

If you are from Ashland then sure you will disagree with my statements. I am from neither school, just calling it like I saw it, even sat on Ashland's side heard some of their loyal saying , they just away with another one. Trust me, I am not complaining, really didnt care who won. It was a very good game by both teams.

Bobby Kouns, looks like Porter Wagner from the 60's -70's , Country Music Icon.

Ashland 69 Fairview 61 OT (64th)
You are right about Alex, I just felt he tried too much when it mattered the most and you know as well as I do that Fairview had Ashland on the ropes, then forced too many stupid driving shots that werent falling, bottom line is that if Fairview would have stuck to their game plan and called a few time outs they would be playing Friday night. Hats off to Ashland they never quit.

I personally think that Ashland might have been over looking Fairview tonight. I never think that officals cost the eagles the game, and remember that I was there as a spectator and was not for either school but this is the truth and game film will reveal this - there were at least 12 points scored tonight by the Tomacts that it should have been a "traveling violation" called. Over all the officating was okay but they missed some major traveling calls. And by the way half of those points were scored in the last two minutes of the game. McDavid and Thomas both walked and got away with it and scored with 2:20 remaining and less. How does that happen with 3 officials, Congrats to Ashland they came back and won, and Fairview kind of deviated from their game plan, thats just my take on things. Porter Wagner was reffing the game, he reffed when I played, he must 134 years old by now.

Fairview didnt fall short they basically handed that game over to Ashland. Fairview was by far the better team tonight, just didnt finish the way they should have, I witnessed tonight alot of over rated High School players and some bright future stars for the Eagles.

Reminds me of a story that I heard Pistol Pete tell about himself while playing at LSU, he said there were 4 seconds left in the game his team was down by 3, he drives and scores and the whistle blows and he is called for a charge, no basket. The ref tells him to give the ball to him and Pete knowing the game is basically over said, NO, the ref says give the ball to me or I will call a Techncial, Pete still says, NO. The ref blows the whistle and Tees him up, The ref says hand me the ball or get it again, Pete says more emphatically, NO, Ref tees him up again and this time he screams at Pete, give me the ball or else, or else what says Pete and then Pete faked a pass to him and the Ref fell over a chair that was near the bleachers. I thought that was great but if a kid did that today they would be banned from playing.

Its not the wins, its his mid size, I thought I was looking at my twin but someone said he was better looking, I think that was his wife that said that. Bill Bradley is a good coach and even a better person.

Question for the Officials
They should be shooting before going in at halftime. Not at the start of the third quarter
