Sure says a lot about the intelligence of the coaches in the region, in my opinion. I want to join in with those who will miss watching Mr. Selbee play. The kid always brings it full force every game, winning or losing, competing from beginning to end with ferocity. Has great hands and basketball IQ too. And he's a great kid off the court, a reflection of fine parenting. Good luck to the BC seniors. I enjoyed watching them play some fine football too!

Good night for the Royals in a very physical battle with Boyd Co. Some of the hardest hits I've seen since football season. I thought heard an arm snap on one of the plays, but thankfully no one got hurt. I tell you what, #3 Chaney was flat filling it up at the end of the game for Boyd. Maybe should have let him shoot the ball every once in a while. Great game as a team for Rose Hill. Arthur, Bush, Gambill and Barber were on fire. They've really gained confidence over the season.

I pick Boyd by a bunch!

Elliott -122 Russell - 22 100 pt spanking. It could easily be this bad as Russell struggles to score in the 30s normally. And with Elliott's pressure I could easily see this or something close to it, unless Mays chooses to call off the dogs early.

I agree with you Racer. I think Elliott and Rose Hill are a notch above the rest, but certainly East has a team that could knock one of them off. I believe that if the draw is right then East, Bath, or maybe Raceland (who is hot right now) will have a chance to make big noise at the Regional.

Hey Booger, just giving you a hard time man. Steele is a big time hustler who always gives 100%, and Selbee is a beast. Depth just works against Boyd having to face Rose Hill. But if Boyd pulls the upset I'll be the first to write an homage to your brilliance on here.

East is definetly not #2 in the region. Just lost by almost 20 to Raceland. But they're a good solid team with a nice win tonight. Congrats East on a 20 victory season.

Booger, keep hanging in there. :lol: I think Boyd has a 0.00000001% chance against Rose Hill myself, just don't have enough dogs this year. But I admire your dedication. I thought Coach Biggs did what he could in the game as far as trying different things. He tried to press and play quick and that didn't work. He tried to zone for a while and that didn't work either. I give him credit for trying to mix it up, but Rose Hill just had the answer for every thing he threw at them. Not much a coach can do in that situation.

Wow, what a victory for the Hill. They dominated from start to finish. A lot of guys got to play and everyone performed well. I would hate to face this team come post season. They're really rolling and can play any type of game. Ashland had their senior salute which was nice. It was nice to see Matt Thomas receive his recogniton on senior night. He is such an outstanding young man, both on and off the court. He'll be missed by Tomcat fans as well as everyone else in the region. Good luck Matt.

Isn't Matt Thomas a senior this year too? Going to be really, really tough without him. Will Ashland have patience with coach Biggs as they go through a horrible downtime?

Thanks Shooter. I knew there was someone who wanted to see that dunk! I myself was afraid to venture down to that end of the court. I tried to get some food at halftime but most everything was gone. And the food that was left was marked FOSD - friends of spin doctor. Wouldn't sell me a thing! I've got to get in that posse before the next game.

VERY, very nice win for Raceland. Impressive to win at Fairview. That's a tough place to play. Looks like the rams must be rolling for sure!

Now to the game. I thought it was a pretty good game for both teams. Rose Hill kind of ran away with again, but I think Boyd Co has definitely improved their game from earlier in the season. They handle the pressure a little better, largely due to Mr. Selby helping to defeat the press with cross court passes. I think Boyd ran out of gas in the second half though (their guys looked tired from playing the entire game without much substituting). Rose Hill substitued a lot and got Euton and Jackson extra rest even before the game was out of hand. Before I forget let me mention the officials in this game. I believe this was the best officiated game I have watched this year. Didn't notice bad calls or missed calls. They didn't call too many fouls so that it disrupted the flow of the game. Excellant, excellant job by the zebras.

A lot of people have asked for this, so I'm going to try and post it in black and white so it will be a little bigger. This is from a particular play during the ballgame that brought a lot of oohs and aahs (well deserved ones I might add). I give you Mr. Jackson.

Sorry, this thread was about the class A schools originally. I agree that the class A schools are very strong this year and I'm glad to see it. The regional is going to be awesome this year with so many good teams. But they sure did get a tough draw, where barring an upset the 16th region representative will face Mason Co. That's about as tough a draw as you could have had in this state.

You guys are hitting the nail on the head about the bigger schools and their athletes not playing multiple sports. I'm familiar with Boyd Co., who back in the mid 80s had very fine programs in all of the major sports (I was there at that time). But some very large ego coaches (you know who they are) started discouraging their players from playing other sports. While basketball and baseball thrived because of this it made the football program terribly inconsistant. It's a real shame that parents have put up with this instead of insisting that their sons/daughters be allowed to play whatever they want, but the threat of losing their playing time was too much I guess. It does appear now like the trend is reversing as I see more and more football players participating in basketball again (all over the region). I for one am glad to see this.

Congrats to the Eagles on a big win. The lions had been playing really well lately. This was an important game for positioning in the district.

In the games I've seen them pressured, Ashland didn't handle it very well. I would guess a 40+ point victory for Elliott. (Probably would've been closer if played at Ashland)

What a classy post! I don't think RH owes you any excuse for the way the players and fans represented the 16th this week in Richmond. Congrats to hazard on a great comeback. Seemed like once the momentem changed Rose Hill just could not stop it. Keep your heads up boys; you did the 16th region proud!
