I heard they have been playing very well plus shooting the ball really good in their scrimmages. If that is the case, I think Carroll will come out on top. I do not feel Walton can handle Girdy pressuring the ball all night. She is quicker than quick.

I don't think they will be All Americans, but I think they will be better than the 3 seniors that graduated last year. I will go out on a limb and say the game will be 8 points or less with W'town possibly pulling off the upset.

Williamstown will be improved from last year and I think the game will be closer than what most people will think. They have 3 to 4 players who did not play last year that are playing this year. It will be interesting to see how they comeback from last year.

At Williamstown, The coach's stipend and KHSAA dues are the only things that the Board pays for. Transportation, referees and equipment (new balls every other year or so) come out of the Athletics account. The Athletics account is funded by either gate sales or concessions. The board does not provide any $$$$ for Athletics. All money raised from the basketball gate goes into Athletics to help fund the programs that do not raise much revenue. For any uniforms, warm-ups, shoes, etc..., funds must be raised by the teams. I understand where Paris is coming from. I have heard complaints from fans about ticket prices and such, but what they don't know is that if the schools don't charge what they do, there may not be a tean to watch.

Stith from Williamstown is probably the most athletic girl in the conference. Once she realizes her potential, she could be very good for them. Also Cochran from Owen Co. is an outstanding point guard who has been around forever. Balsiger from Gallatin is solid (especially is she comes back from her ACL at full strength). Osborne from Carroll does get the recognition she deserves. She does a lot of the dirty work that a lot of players don't like to do.

I would have to agree with you. Losing 22-23 points and 12+ rebounds a game will be a huge whole to fill. Their defense will make up for some of that, but I feel their lack of size may hurt them. Coach Mefford always has his teams ready to play though. Good luck to the Lady Panthers from the Williamstown faithful.

If Trimble gets some good guard play, then they will be tough to handle due to Miller's size down low. Other than Schimer last year, I don't recall any other outside shooters. Who are the shooters this year?

Does anyone know the rule about team play once school is in session? I thought players could not play in AAU type tournaments/games once school officially starts. Does the new ruling negate this? Thanks.

How will their coach lose it? I would like to hear your rationale on this. I feel he has done a pretty good job. Their team had the mis-fortune of 3-4 players move (family moves) in the past 3-4 years that would have made them one of the best in the All "A" last year and this year.

Carroll/Walton will be a good first round game. If Walton handles Carroll's pressure, I feel they will win. If they falter, Carroll would pull the mild upset (IMO). The winner will get Trimble whereas the winner of Gallatin/W'town will get Eminence. Not to take anything away from Eminence, but that draw will allow either Gallatin or Williamstown to rest some of their players for the Championship game. I am unsure about the depth of Carroll/Walton/Trimble, but this could be beneficial to Gallatin/Williamstown.

I feel the All A is going to be wide open this year. Any one of 5 teams can make it to Richmond. Here is my take on the teams strengths and weaknesses (in aphabetical order): 1. Carroll Co. - (Strength) Outstanding on the defensive end of the court. Girdy is ultra quick, bit is foul prone. Their full court press is very good. (Weakness) No consistant scoring. Also lack in size which could haunt them against larger teams. 2. Gallatin Co. - (Strength) Very good defensively. Play extremely hard. Balsiger coming back from injury will be key. (Weakness) No consistant scoring, esp. from perimeter. Experience level low due to losing 3 seniors. 3. Trimble Co. - (Strength) Miller. Biggest and best post player in the All A. (Weakness) No guard play to get Miller the ball. susceptable to turning the ball over when pressed. 4. Walton - (Strength) Varsity experience and Hargett. She is very good at getting to the hoop. If healthy, Heeger can hit the open "3". (Weakness) No other scoring other than Hargett and Heeger. The team also did not play up to their potential last year. 5. Williamstown - (Strength) Varsity experience. Starting 5 has been intact going on their 3rd year. Good team quickness and play hard all of the time. (Weakness) - Consistant scoring could be an issue. If Stith, West and Wilhoit can average double figures, they could be the surprise of the All A. Team lacks size, but rebounds well (esp. Wilhoit). There is my take. As far as predictions, I will take Williamstown over gallatin Co. and Eminence. On the other side of the bracket, I will take Walton over Carroll and Trimble. As far as the finals, Williamstown pulls off the upset.

How did they play against the teams that you watched?

Lofty goals, but I see them no better than 7th or 8th in the region. SK, South Oldham, Oldham, Anderson and Shelby come to mind off the bat as being better. You can also throw in Grant Co. according to reports on how they played over the summer. Losing Coach Richey will hurt them more than people think though. After that, I think Walton and Owen come into the picture. The next 5 or 6 is a toss up.

I would not label Grant Co. a sleeper. They return 7 or 8 of their top 10 players last year, plus the 3 point shooter back from injury. Alot of coaches would like to have that returning. Who are some of the younger players who looked good for them this summer. I watched them at Ludlow camp and only remember 1 player different playing that did not play last year (she had darkish hair and a little skinny)? They should be a top 6 or 7 team in the region with what they have returning. I agree that Williamstown plays hard, but I don't know if they will get consistant scoring this year. I am a big fan of Coach Wilhoit's daughter. She plays hard all of the time and is not intimidated by anyone she goes against. She may be the best player on their team by the way she played this summer.

Curry from Carroll and Hill from Gallatin are a couple of nice Freshmen, but I think Wilhoit from Williamstown my be better than both of them at this point. This could be due to her experience playing at the varsity level plus what she lacks in talent is made up for in hustle and always giving 100%. West from Williamstown is also a pretty nice freshman. What other freshmen players are out there that could make an impact this year?

I watched Owen Co. and Henry Co. play in the Ludlow Camp. Owen still has Cochran and Williams, but seemed to lack the consistant 3 point shooter they have had in the past. Coach Osborne played all of his kids an equal amount throughout the week. He seemed he was more concerned getting experience for all of the kids rather than winning. That is what the summer should be about. Henry Co. played agressive defense, but had trouble scoring at times. They currently lack a consistant scorer. They did improve throughout the week.

Congratualtions to Coach Stamm for running a great camp. Alot of good basketball was played over the week. Also, congrats to Grant Co. They still play the outstanding defense that Coach Richey instilled in them the past couple of years. Once their offense starts to click, they can a very successful season.

Williamstown did pull out a win, but Scott was without their Sr. post player. Scott can be a dangerous team during the regular season. They have a nice point guard and 2 nice post players. If their guard play continues to improve and their freshman post player gets more comfortable playing varsity minutes, they will have a nice year.

I would have to also agrre with 24's Mom assessement of Scott. If they can getsome guard play, they will be dangerous. Coach Wilhoit's daughter plays more of the 3 position. She is about 5'5" - 5'6" with blonde hair. Always wears knee pads and ankle braces. For her size, she is a good rebounder and slasher to the basket. That sometimes gets her in trouble.

As a W'town fan, the Henry Co./Williamstown game was like watching paint dry. Both teams played hard, but neither could get consistant scoring in the 2nd half. Williamstown's second game was against St. Henry. W'town went scoreless for about the first 8 or 9 minutes, but took a lead at half time as St. Henry subbed alot. Williamstown only had 7 players last night, so there were always at least 2-3 starters on the floor at all times. Both teams played well in the second half. W'town had a 5 point lead with about a minute and a half left, but St. Henry hit their FT's (too many silly reaching fouls by Williamstown) and W'town missed 3 FT's in a row late to come out on the short end of the stick. Hopefully the team will learn from this.
