Lunatic1
I am copying this thread from the boys side. Listed below is my attempt to put the teams in order. Let me know what you think based on info from the summer. I think that based on the shooting on any given night numbers 6-9 could give each other trouble. There are a lot of young teams out there this year so this could be way off as the season progresses. 1./2 Simon Kenton or South Oldham - too close to call 3. Oldham County 4. Anderson County 5. Shelby County 6/7 Carroll County or Walton Verona - too close to call 8. Owen County 9. Grant County 10.Trimble County 11.Gallatin County 12/13. Williamstown or Spencer County - too close to call 14. North Oldham 15. Henry County 16. Eminience

Shelby is good every year and they have the region's top player in Gray. Anderson has some really strong seniors with a lot of regional tourney experience. Oldham had some up and down games during the season last year but played Shelby very tough in the opening round last year. I think by your comment that you feel 1 through 5 are kind of a toss up. After that, it all kind of depends. I kind of agree. 1. Simon Kenton 2. South Oldham 3. Shelby County 4. Anderson County 5. Oldham County 6. Carroll County 7. Owen County 8. Williamstown (my sleeper) 9. Walton 10. Trimble County 11. Grant County 12. North Oldham 13. Spencer County 14. Gallatin Count 15. Henry County 16. Lunatic1
Interesting on W-town, I always pull for them and it would be nice to see them have a good season. I have not seen Walton play this year but with Hargett I was assuming they would be really strong. However last year they were very inconsistent and did not seem to have a game plan without Garcia. I saw Shelby this summer and I agree they have some great individual players, however it was summer ball so I could not judge on how they will play as a team. I did not think Oldham had any seniors last year so I rated them very high but your 1-5 could be better.
buttels
I think I would have Carroll a bit higher than 6th. With Osborne's three point potential and Girdy's quickness, I may bump them up to 4 or so. I also think that Gallatin is projected a bit low. Not trying to be a homer, but I know that Coach Roberts has been working with the girls hard on ball control which was their achillies heel last year. With Balsiger healthy and Brooke Hill (who is quite a golfer with Caroline Huddleston) with another year under her belt, I might put the Lady Wildcats about half way up the pack. I agree with W-Town, but between Stith and Wilhoit, they need another girl or two to step up.
Lunatic1
I think Gallatin is one of those teams that is going to win a lot of games they should not and maybe lose some they should win..they have some great young talent and looked improved this summer, I think they are like CC in that they are young. They actually remind me of W-town and may be a sleeper...did they play Trimble this summer? They could give them trouble depending on how they are shooting. On the Carroll side it remains to be seen, It is hard to tell in summer ball. I think you may mean Wallace not Osborne. She was the 3 point shooter from last year, however Osborne looks really improved this year and will be a scorer also.
U Reach I Teach
Oldham County has a great size... I got to see them at Transylvania this summer and they had 2 girls 6ft or bigger. A decent little point guard that ran the show too.

I am interested to see what Shelby Co does this year. Gray is an exciting player. #6-10 I would also agree are an interesting group & any one of them could be a big surprise & pull way up & possibly push for a spot in the top 5. WV is a big question mark in my mind. I like Hargett. Anybody see anything of WV this summer? As far as a sleeper team, Grant Co. What I saw from the new coach & how some of the young players have developed (as well as a senior that did not play last season to injury who can shoot the 3) they had some very surprising moments during the summer session & improved dramatically from the start to finish for the summer session. You want to support your hometown team of course & at the same time try not to be biased, but Grant Co. actually surprised me this summer. Williamstown is always a scrappy, hardworking team. I would not underestimate what they can do as they mature.

Hargett can play with most anybody in the region, but I would expect a repeat of last years underachieving for the team, I hope I'm wrong. Walton is loaded in the middle school with talent, but they are a year or so away from seeing any meaningful varsity minutes.
SuperB
At Carroll County, I see a budding star in freshman Kendall Curry. Look for her to contribute a bunch this season.

Saw her multiple times last year. Carroll has a good underclass coming. They should be good for a couple of years.
1734
I concur. Saw her multiple times last year. Carroll has a good underclass coming. They should be good for a couple of years. Curry from Carroll and Hill from Gallatin are a couple of nice Freshmen, but I think Wilhoit from Williamstown my be better than both of them at this point. This could be due to her experience playing at the varsity level plus what she lacks in talent is made up for in hustle and always giving 100%. West from Williamstown is also a pretty nice freshman. What other freshmen players are out there that could make an impact this year?

I would not underestimate what they can do as they mature. I would not label Grant Co. a sleeper. They return 7 or 8 of their top 10 players last year, plus the 3 point shooter back from injury. Alot of coaches would like to have that returning. Who are some of the younger players who looked good for them this summer. I watched them at Ludlow camp and only remember 1 player different playing that did not play last year (she had darkish hair and a little skinny)? They should be a top 6 or 7 team in the region with what they have returning. I agree that Williamstown plays hard, but I don't know if they will get consistant scoring this year. I am a big fan of Coach Wilhoit's daughter. She plays hard all of the time and is not intimidated by anyone she goes against. She may be the best player on their team by the way she played this summer.
Lunatic1
I like Coach WIlhoit's daughter also and I do think that she is a good player, It is hard to tell who is the best Fresh because the girls mature and change from Middle School. I also Like Hill from Gallatin and there is another fresh at CC that deserves a mention in addition to Curry and that is Hunter. They have played together for years and really have good chemistry. I am not familiar with Grant County and their players but it is good that they are seeing good things this summer. I heard that Anderson County is getting a girl back that was injured last year, this may change my top ratings. I am just looking forward to the season and seeing how the teams have changed from last year.
