There was only the one Technical called tonight. Ouch - I don't know what Salsman did to you, but that's one of the coldest posts I've seen.:laugh::lol: :lol: :lol: :laugh: What I heard was that the Lex Cath administration didn't want the SC fans sitting directly behind the LC bench. Now why they waited until the end of the JV game to make them move (when there were no other spots in the lower arena left) instead of earlier is awfully fishy... I saw the woman AD from Catholic asking if Coach McKey (AD and football coach at Scott Co) was at the game - what she didn't know is that if he had been there at the time all this foolishness was going on - I would almost guarantee that the kids would have stayed where they were at first - there was no reserved seating and the kids got to the seats first: should have been the end of the story. It was an unnecessary distraction caused by some control freaks who run Lex. Cath. I think the kids rights were violated and they should all get a refund from their ticket - since there were undisclosed places they could not sit... Where's the Heavy Hitter's phone number - I think this could be a class action suit.

I hope he is shooting the ball better now than he did in that 1st game at Scott Co. I remember that Mackey didn't have to pick him up until he got to the free throw line - they dared him to shoot the 3. He is an AWESOME athlete though.

Observations: 1. It was an all-out war. Catholic played very physical - checking all cutters, lots of holding - there were no free drives to the basket for SC tonight. 2. Lots of emotion in this one starting with the moving of the SC student section - followed by the Technical Foul on Coach Hicks (which was weak) - and then followed by the no foul call when Walls gets a rebound and is poked in the eye FROM OVER THE BACK. It wasn't like he landed and the kid reached in - he was still in the air getting the rebound - he bled the rest of the game - getting to the trainer during the MANY foul shots. 3. While Walls and Mackey scored the majority of the points - it was Jimmy Warren's defense in the full-court against Newton that turned the game in SC's favor. The pressure made Catholic bring Novasel out away from the basket (where he was dominating the game). Supporting roles from Marcus Birchfield (I wish he was a Soph., but he's a Junior) and Jordan Adams also played a big role in the win. 4. Scott Co. showed a lot of composure and determination as they were down 8 in the 4th quarter and kept playing hard to get the big win on the road. 5. Tyler Stewart and Nathan Novasel are very good basketball players. We could not stop either one of them most of the night. 6. Catholic played harder and got all the loose balls in the first half - but Scott was the most aggressive in the 2nd half and down the stretch. 7. Catholic played a 3-2 Zone most of the game. They pressed 2-2-1 full court some, but mostly played the zone. They still had trouble staying in front of Bud Mackey - he's a jet. 8. I think even though SC was on the road there was more Red than Blue in the gym tonight. Great fans.

Wasn't there a thread a few days ago about an elbow that was thrown at a Franklin Co. player? Maybe that had something to do with it. It's still rediculous. Are you allowed to say who the officials were on BGP?

This Scott Co fan sees it a bit differently than Basketballwizz LC/SC is ALWAYS a competitive game. It makes no difference who is ranked higher - who has the most high profile players - who has the best record... this game will be a war. It was a war when LC had David Graves. It was a war when Scott Co had Jones/Hundley/Hamilton. It was a war when LC had Green/Morton/there was another high profile player but I can't think of his name... Walls and company better bring their A games (and play together) if they want to avoid consecutive L's.

It will be interesting to see Salsman's game plan in this one. Will they get up in the 2-2-1 press that was so successful against Clark Co. (in the 4th quarter) or will they drop back and play a match up 2-3 zone like they did against Tates Creek? Will they see how Huntington played triangle and two with some success - and try that hoping Portwood has an off night? SC will trap and play tough man - as always.

If that stat is accurate - I'm glad I wasn't at this ballgame. :sleep: :sleep: :sleep:

Hopefully they will learn from the bad decisions that cost them the game against HHS last night. It could be the best thing that could happen - if they learn from it.

Rumor has it that Scott Co. is traveling to three major tournaments next year: 1. The Beach Ball Classic - Myrtle Beach, SC 2. The Hall of Fame Classic - Springfield, Mass. 3. The City of Palms Tournament - Fort Myers, FL there should be some good competition at these. I don't know if there will ever be another traveling circus like we had with HHS this year. The following of their high profile players combined with the following SC fans have for the team made for two tremendous atmospheres, HUGE publicity, televised games, etc. It was extra special because OJ had the ties to Kentucky. Plus the games themselves were good - 4 points both times. If there is a way to have another game where Scott Co. can make that much money again - I'm sure the AD will put it together.

You're right - it was two great venues for the games. Dr. Blankenship - the superintendent of Scott Co. Schools played at Marshall when they played in Veterans Memorial Fieldhouse. His wife came into the arena telling everyone about the first time she saw Dr. B play on that floor. Her mother still lives in Huntington - and came with them to the game.

The big big set-up: knightsdad is preparing the crow - ready to be served on Saturday night.

Oh yeah, I forgot to mention that they stormed the floor after the win. They've beaten nationally ranked DeMatha and Artesia this year, but they stormed the floor because the beat SC. There was some satisfaction in knowing that SC had gained some respect. I didn't see Scooterbob out there - at least not from what I picture him looking like from his Avatar... I don't think there is any reason for this game to happen again next year. HHS loses all the "attractions" so the $$$ would not be the same. SC just loses Walls, Jimmy Warren, Chris James and Mason Karrick... I think it would be advantage Scott Co. By the way - Marcus Birchfield had 30 in the JV game (which Scott Co. won).

This is an INTENSE rivalry. Walk into a school in Scott Co. tomorrow and the front office will have already moved past the Huntington game and will be talking about the game at Lex. Cath. There will be quite a few SC fans at the game Saturday. (It was at least half-red tonight in Huntington) I totally disagree with the KHSAA/NCAA comment posted earlier. The Scott Co. faithful know better than to think this team is above the current level of comptetition. Bullitt East and Madison Central have made it very clear that we have plenty of competition right here to focus on. Go Cards - I couldn't think of a better way to "bounce back" from tonight's loss than to go get a big W on Clays Mill Road.

Observations first: - HHS played so much harder tonight than they did in Memorial it didn't seem like the same team. - The officials were ok. The home team got a couple of breaks, but the home team is supposed to get a couple of breaks. The "out of bounds" call where the outside ref over-ruled the baseline ref and HHS followed with a dunk on the next play was a back-breaking questionable call. The refs let both teams play hard and physical - that style favored HHS tonight. - HHS was more physical throughout the game. Their guards played seriously sticky D on Walls and Mackey. Their forwards and centers battled for every rebound. - Scott Co. had terrible shot selection tonight. Lee shooting a 3 with the game on the line??? Warren with a couple of pull up jumpers??? Walls and Mackey forced quite a few shots tonight. - Patterson made some NICE mid-range jumpers that I didn't think he could hit. 12' bank shots over an athletic Jordan Lee. - Tubby was there along with Belein (West Virginia University) Marshall's coach was also there. - I was impressed at how the HHS players interacted with the young kids after the game. They stuck around forever signing autographs and having pictures taken.

I hope everyone from Maine to Cali reads it and gives KY hoops some respect If I could just keep it away from Walls, Mackey, Portwood, Lee, Phares, Warren, Hundley, James, Birchfield, Adams, etc. and let them read it about mid-April that would be great.

I know it's at "The Fieldhouse" - not at Marshall. I wish it was at Marshall, that place is a nice gym.

Scott Co. is taking a charter bus for fans. I think it was $20 for the ticket and the bus ride - but I'm not positive. I don't know how big the place is where they are playing the game. I called the Scott Co. athletic office to buy mine.

Come on Knightsdad - you know that NOBODY looks at Lex. Cath. as "the poor Knights"... After taking it to Clark Co. in the 4th quarter I would guess that Salsman and the boys are quite confident they can best Scott Co. Everyone in Scott Co. circles this game on the schedule... it's big time - and both teams will be ready. Lex. Cath. is so tough at home. I bet Salsman has the SI #15 ranking posted on the bulletin board to give Novasel, Stewart, Newton and co. a little extra motivation. It should be fun. I'll take Scott Co. 74 Lex. Cath. 67.

You are right - it's an honor that they think the Cards are that good, but the truth is that rankings mean nothing and provide additional motivation for upcoming opponents. Last year my Cards were ranked #1 in the State (in Litkinghous) but Madison Central didn't roll over - and neither will any team this year.
