  1. You are correct in that neither one of us knows each other in any way shape or form. I do not feel I was making an assumption about misunderstanding the music portion due to the above quote. You asked how do they teach with all this music and stuff going on. They don't teach in practice. They rep past a few fast words. All teaching and correction is done in position meetings and film. So I did not assume but made an interpretation of your statement from my experience and understanding of the subject. Sorry if I misunderstood. BTW have you been to one of their practices?
  2. Its been happening for 20 years or so at least. Non-athletes leaving school early after completing what they needed to to enroll in college. I'm not even talking "smart" kids either. Just your average student that got everything finished.
  3. It really isn't that big of a deal. You are talking about a small amount of students doing this (not just athletes). Numbers wise it wouldn't be much different then the normal flow of students enrolling or withdrawing from a school.
  4. I don't see how the upsets or last second loses are linked to their new ideas. If you have watched them practice and been around them then it would make more sense. 2009 I am not sure how much was really expected out of them with Kelly taking over. 2010 the loss is more about not tackling a kid to the ground or playing through the whistle. 2011 LSU smakes them in the opener (biggest marigin of victory by an opponent in Kelly's time at 13 pts) and later the loss to USC in which they just shot themselves in the foot. 2012 the loss to Standford when they miss a FG in OT which went to 3 OTs. The music, tempo, signs, and many of the other things they do people don't get because they don't have the information. Like was stated earlier the music thing is nothing new. They have been doing it for 3-4 years. Football is taught much differently then when many of us played the game.
  5. National Championships are not the be all end all of measuring how good a coach you are. The music for more than crowd noise is a fairly new thing. Unless you have gone to either a Kelly practice or any of the practices of a National Championship team you can't really comment about what they do/do not do in practice. This isn't some strange blakc magic stuff or doing something just to be cool.
  6. New England has been using many of his concepts for a few years. I completely agree with people being clueless and a great example is the Redskins offense. People just think its zone read stuff and do not realize the different games they are playing with blocking the backside. It's some real smart stuff.
  7. They do not "teach" during practice nor do they "correct" during practice. They do all of that in position meetings and film. Practice for them is about reps at a high speed. I am little surprised that more people don't know about how they do things as big of a deal as they have been. Now as far as the science portion of it. I think if you googled enough you could find the information. Music be structure can create certain reactions it appears. For example, porn music is not just porn music. The way the music is created (sounds and structure) create a certain type of response within people. I found that information out through a human sexuality course in college.
  8. Yeah stuff from the Lion King I think. Many teams play music to simulate crowd noise or to just put practice to a pace. I think what Kelly does might go a little further than that from tempo to mood and so on. Music tones and such have an effect on people.
  9. Siple is still there and has had pretty good numbers in the offseason. I will say that Grant has had some interesting hiring processes in the past.
  10. Define your last two sentences because there can be a big difference or a linked aspect to those words. In part one could see those as loaded questions
  11. Just google Victoria James and one of the first few hits you'll get has the pics. I had the same issue with the linked site. The funny thing is there is a model by the same name that is a cyber playmate for playboy.
  12. I might of missed it but I did not see a comment about T being able to pull from all over. There are a number of comments about the enrollment size and it being all males. Trinity did beat teams like Boone but they played them only because they had to due to the playoffs. It wasn't like T was going out and playing those teams during the regualr season. Now granted I don't know if those teams would of played T during the regular season. Back in the late 80s early 90s we were one of the few public schools that would play T's freshman team. We played them twice every year as freshman so I know T had issues at times getting games from time to time. The T team that beat Boone was a better than average team. Whoever put Boone as a huge favorite in that game needed to see them play more. I think T scored once on a fake screen pass. If you win more than 50 games in a row then you earned it.
  13. In this case it is apples to oranges compared to a county like Bell. I don't think those programs would be able to be a part of the KHSAA system. They are not a middle school though they pull from the HS school district which could include a number of different MS. In the case of Bell Co there is no middle school because the county has something like 3 or 4 k-8 schools. Those schools are too small to field individual teams so they are combined. Also in Bell Co's case all of those schools feed one HS.
  14. doubledeuce: That was something I was wondering myself. I don't think its apple to oranges. plantmanky: Yes if you are a KHSAA member then instate schools you play must be KHSAA members too. If there is no fee great and that solves some issues. I would have to look back through it all but there are a number of things I think will/could cause issues. One is Title IX. While some MS try to do their best to some what comply with it they don't really do it. This si going to put a finacial strain on MS to come up with money and resources for these sports and coaches. The record keeping, budgets and books that it appears will be required will be difficult to handle also. What do the MS gain from all of this? THe item that appear to be going into place are things school districts themselves can/should be handling. So what do the MS get?
  15. Nope but as soon as you bring that purchase over and put it into your house you owe KY Use tax on that TV. There is a good deal of misunderstanding about Sales and Use tax along with Income tax. When you purchase an item from outside KY period you owe use tax on it. So if you bought a TV in OH and got charged 7.5% sales tax you would get credit toward your use tax of that item up to 6% but there is a catch. OH might only have a state sales tax of 5% (this is just a number so I don't need an exact quote of what Oh sales tax is) the other 2.5% tax you paid went to whatever city in OH you purchased the TV at. So instead of getting 7.5% credit you only get 5% credit and still owe the other 1% to KY. Magazine subscriptions? Guess what you owe sales and use tax on those. Now as far as the working in one state and living in another like the CA and KY example given by someone. KY gives you credit for taxes paid to another state. You might have to file a CA state return to get that money back so you can pay KY or get a larger refund. That honeslty is on your employer more than the states. The example given with the car shows how different things can be from state to state. In KY I am pretty sure its not sales tax but motor vehicle uses tax that you pay. After that it is property tax. Of course I am sure we don't have anyone on here that lives in NKY and has an OH plate on their car so they don't have to pay property tax. The whole sale and use tax on internet venders has been in the works by states (and states working together) since some where around 2002-2004 or so. The issue isn't as much the online vendors as much as tax payers refusing to pay tax in the manner they are suppose to. Where things get tricky is what is taxable is not the same from state to state. We don't pay tax on grocery items so there are certain items you could order online that would not be taxed in KY but the online retailor might still collect the tax because it is easier for them.
  16. Someone who never smokes in their life can get cancer but smoking or other things increase the risk of cancer developing. Point is while it is true all those things could happen any number of places or for any number of reasons drinking increases the risk of those things happening.
  17. HS have a choice about joining the KHSAA so why would a MS not have the same choice. On top of that if there is some way to force a MS to join then can they charge a membership fee? HS pay to be a part of the KHSAA as they have a choice. No choice would have to mean no fee I would think
  18. The question did not ask how you arrived to that frame of mind but only if certain people have that frame of mind. Which I believe is true that some people are only happy if they can complain. As far as the nature verses nurture aspect I personally believe that both play factors in the outcome
  19. Yeah lochness gets all fired up when people start telling him you can't run against those 9 man fronts. We are so thin this coming year I am going to make all our RB get up like they are Jim Brown lol. It will be interesting to see as a state if we start seeing some of these "old school" offenses come back.
  20. Reed has a whole book on clock management but its hard to find. The guy is a little nuts. We are going to run tbe double wing this year. In the past we have been power I, I, sinlge wing and TFS. I've coached in a few systems. I was lucky enough to play for a great triple option coach. Love the option. There is a great wishbone team in Ga that came from VI. I'll look them up. One of the best bone teams I've watched.
  21. Harry: Have you been talking to lochness about the face melter offense? Ram: Was the book you read the Coach Reed book? It is the same book that refers to using toss sweep to run out the clock. The wishbone works just fine and yes you can win with it. I have no idea what style they are running. The style in part will determine line splits. If they are a triple team then you'll see larger splits to move the hand off and read keys out. If it is more of a power style you'll see some of the tighter splits. Those tighter splits make it tough on the defense because they tend to just get in each other's way. Makes it tough to blitz also. As far as the whole 9 in the box thing never has bothered me. I think the box count is one of the more overated things. It takes more than just bodies to stop the run. Those kids better want to stick their nose in there over and over. You put 9 guys up there to sell out you better hope those 2 safeties or your CBs don't fall alseep.
  22. They have to post information about the check points. I am not sure the whole reason why they have to do it but I know they have to.
  23. A Grant co team will join the Boone Co league. I'm not sure if that is the same group but I know it's in the works
