  1. The problem with some ex-stars is things came natural to them so they sometimes have a hard time teaching it. The other issue is sometimes they were stars because they were just that physically better. Utility players often had to get by with technique or understanding the game more. Sometimes they end up as better teachers. Now I think Ram over simplified things a little bit about the OL and OL coaches but I understand where he is coming from. The further you get away from the ball the coaching on the HS level typically goes down. If you've never coached the OL then it's hard to understand how tough that area is to coach. The first thing any HC should do when he gets a job is find the best OL coach he can. WR and RB might be the two worse coached spots on a nightly basis. You know you have a good WR coach when those guys are blocking their butts off.
  2. I don't have an answer for this but this might be a chance to find an answer. I've always wondered who this player was. He was on the 94 team that went to state. He returned the 4th q kickoff against Shelby Co to help set up the winning field goal. I also think he is the one that blocked the fg in the championship game. I've always wondered who he was.
  3. Do you know any of the former coaches? If not sorry that statement is way off base and bounderline out of line. I know that in at least two cases it has nothing to do with pride.
  4. Considering how thin jobs are it might be tough to bring people in for a staff. In the other thread there was a statement about how he left Ryle but no details. I would be interested in hearing what that was about.
  5. My xwife helped develope the vaccine in cincy. I was offered the chance to take it by my dr a few years ago (I'm now 36) but he said at that age insurance won't cover it.
  6. What year did they go to the state finals? I asked that in the other thread and it got locked before I got a response
  7. State title game in 93? I thought I remembered all 8 teams that played for titles that year but I most be off.
  8. The confusion is a 50 front that is straight up man. I think Redman came up with it at Wagner and then people called it the Wagner 53. The front slides according to strength they shoot gaps. It is a little on the unsound side but when you have athletes it is a pain.
  9. Do they still run a version of Male's old confusion defense that Redman came up with?
  10. Doubleduece: do you guys use the R4 system?
  11. Collins rise as a program is not surprising for those from the area. The split between Shelby Co into two schools sends most of the best players to Collins. People in the area knew Collins would be a top program fast and will more than likely always be around the top programs at that level. The fast rb is the Farris kid who has an offer from WKU among others. Defense needs to improve some. I'm not sure what overall they need to do get to being in the top 3-5 programs at that level every year.
  12. I know with OH people in KY do it for property tax issues. I found that out while working for the state revenue department in nky. I'm not sure about the laws in the other states but I would think it is something similar. I have no idea where TN gets their money. They don't have income tax and do tax groceries so property tax has to be high on items
  13. This is one reason I think he migh thave to adjust is roster size. In college the roster size is so much larger they could rotate a large amount of players on defense. Just not going to be able to do that in the NFL.
  14. The Pats have been meeting with Kelly for the last few years. What Kelly will do more than likely is close to what you see with NE with a bit of a twist to it. Even NE getting the two TE/H back types and moving them around is a Kelly thing. Kelly plays with blocking surfaces a lot. I would be surprised to see much of the zone read stuff and little to no option/pitch stuff.
  15. You see the play clock used in the championship games because in part you cna trust the people running the clock. I know most officals do not consider a play clock at a school as the "offical" clock. Now as far as running off large amounts of clock goes there are "legal" ways to do it. Of course we have all been at games where the person running the clock didn't start it on time or stop it or any number of things. If the RB takes his time getting up and does not hand the ball to the offical you can run off a good 20 sec or so before they can even chop the ball ready for play. Between things like that and running down the gam eclock you can run off 50-60 sec or so a play. If there is a pile you can stretch out more with the offense getting off the pile slowly.
  16. Any idea of when they might start trying to fill the position? I know the last few times they went through a hiring process for other sports they really dragged their feet.
  17. The NFL rule is 3 years past your HS graduation class. I'm don't know if the NCAA should go that direction with basketball or not but that is an option.
  18. I would want them in my system as soon as I could. Weights, diet, film, practice, meeting the team and so much more. For some it won't work but not all college ayers do. I think we can all think of players where it didn't that also waited to join the team.
  19. Nappy Roots was at WKU while I was there. I had classes with Ron in the graphic design department and use to see them at kinkos putting together their CDs. I had no idea Mike Doiughty was from ky. Where? I lived Soul Coughing and his solo stuff. Joan Osborne is best know for her song "If God was one of us"
  20. I was wondering how it worked for you. Did you notice a pace or anything?
  21. You are correct in that neither one of us knows each other in any way shape or form. I do not feel I was making an assumption about misunderstanding the music portion due to the above quote. You asked how do they teach with all this music and stuff going on. They don't teach in practice. They rep past a few fast words. All teaching and correction is done in position meetings and film. So I did not assume but made an interpretation of your statement from my experience and understanding of the subject. Sorry if I misunderstood. BTW have you been to one of their practices?
  22. Its been happening for 20 years or so at least. Non-athletes leaving school early after completing what they needed to to enroll in college. I'm not even talking "smart" kids either. Just your average student that got everything finished.
  23. It really isn't that big of a deal. You are talking about a small amount of students doing this (not just athletes). Numbers wise it wouldn't be much different then the normal flow of students enrolling or withdrawing from a school.
