  1. There are many differences in the two programs. East is a much larger school, but they most likely have more speed in the pep section than on the field. The skill players at West almost always run track. Football and track go hand in hand at West Carter, for the last decade or longer this has given an edge against the opponents that West should beat and made West very competitive against teams that usually put them on the losing side of a running clock. You can always get faster and stronger, but the kids got to buy into it. Champlin may or may not stay at East he isn't from there, and to me that's important to the level of football that is played in Carter County. Everyone on West Carter's staff played football there. There is a slow moving shift in Olive Hill from what was in the old days from basketball to football being top dog. It's already is the most important sport to the kids and the community is finally coming around. In most years the make or break game of the season is the East/West game, although East still leads the series. West is now dominating the series as of late with lop sided victories. East needs to drop out of district play. As long as Basketball, Baseball, and Soccer continue keep some of the better athletes away from football it's going to be a struggle against West not to mention playing 4A football. West has speed and athletes coming up the pipeline, so I look for West to keep the Barrel for years to come!
  2. As predicted running clock. Greatest margin of victory in the series I believe?
  3. In the last ten years West Carter is 7-3 vs. East Carter and has out scored them 275-166 during those matches. Anything less than a running clock in this game is unacceptable to me. West has the athletes and East does not, 14-21 points for West in the first quarter will make my wishes come true. East will try to slow the game down as much as possible, but if West gets out to a fast start it'll be over quick. East Carter in the past two seasons has given up an average of 43.5 points per game and won a one game. Stranger things has happened in this rivalry game but.... West Carter by 30+
  4. West Carter's defense and athletes will be to much for Powell. West 34 Powell 6
  5. Just sticking up for West Carter in a reasonable way. A ram fan was on this board posting about how West Carter is a "bad team". I was just trying to point out that none of the teams mentioned have destroyed West Carter lately. So if they are so bad, how good does that make a team that can't put them away with ease. Just like last year, after the Raceland West game, I pretty much knew how both teams seasons would play out. I wish both teams the best and admire the Raceland program. Just as last year, not being a hater, just giving what I think is my realistic opinion.
  6. Raceland isn't as good as they were last year either. So, if West Carter is "bad team" or "not a very good team" what does that make Raceland? I bet Raceland doesn't shut Greenup out in a couple of weeks. Raceland will have a winning record this fall and get beat in the playoffs by a team from south east Kentucky. West Carter will likely do the same. Greenup County 28 Russell 21
  7. This was an excellent game, it wasn't a running clock type of game. Raceland could have caught some balls. Also West Carter could have not turned the ball over twice. Raceland's depth over matched the Comets in this one.
  8. If West can get three scores on a strong Raceland defense, it will be an excellent game. If Raceland's offense proves to be to much for the Comets they will poor it on, I don't think beating West Carter is a statement win by no means for Raceland, but struggling with them is something that Raceland doesn't want to start their season out with. This game will be won up front with Raceland having a tremendous advantage, maybe a dominate advantage. West Carter will not have a explosive offense like they did last year, but they still have skill that can score for anywhere on the field. I hope West can come out and play hard and put some drives together and make a game of it. Raceland 28 West Carter 8
  9. West will have great team speed once again. Their skill players will be adequately replaced, due to the strength of there schedule. But the loss of B. Brown, Z. Walker, T. Mosby will cut their offensive production in half or more than last year. Defense will be the deciding factors in the success of their season this fall. West will struggle up front has they have in years past, which has kept them battling to make .500 for decades. I still think their chances of a winning season this fall is very achievable. It's not about how good you are, it's about who you play and IMO my opinion football in NEKY is down this year. Not being a hater, there just isn't a lot of stand out talent in the EKC or the regular season Class 3A schedule West will face this year. Which I think will make for some very completive play, with the prize of getting destroyed by Belfry in the playoffs. Raceland- Loss Powell- Win East- Win Nicholas- Win Russell- Loss Bath- Win Fleming- Loss Pendleton- Win Lewis- Win Magoffin- Win
  10. Braden Brown (ATH) West Carter to Morehead State.
  11. It's a great sport. I would love to see this become a high school sport one day. I think the big problem would be lack of coaches.
  12. Lawrence gave up over 400 yards rushing last week. Belfry rolls in this one with the ground and pound run game. Belfry 48 Lawrence 14

  14. I am very excited for this Friday Night. It will be a excellent game and great match up. Both teams have great athletes and both teams are pretty similar in size up front. Both teams have had good season but neither have a statement win but both teams played their quality opponents on their schedules very good. Lawrence played Belfry very close but Belfry turned the ball over like 5+ times I think. If West is given 5+ extra opportunities to score against a team... I like our chances as well. West Carter has nothing to lose at this point in the season if they come out fast and physical they will beat a good Lawrence team. IMO lack of execution on West Carter's part could loose this game for them not Lawrence physically beating them up to a victory. West Carter 30 Lawrence County 21
  15. Bring on the Bulldogs! West is ready with nothing to loose. Should be a great game cause these two teams match up very well.
  16. West is a 2A playing up in 3A. Put a running clock on another 3A district champ. One man show is not accurate. West has has some great speed and in their skills players. A very good defensive lineman and this group with Brown has lead the Comets to a great season thus far. Horton is the most dominate player in Eastern KY. IMO in 3A football in Eastern KY I would rather have an offensive stud. Why did Dalton miss 3 games?
  17. B. Brown (West Carter) 115 Attempts for 1132 yards Rushing 18 Rushing TDs Attempts 54/95 1051 yards Passing 19 Passing TDs 5 INTS QB Rating of 205* 1 Fumble Recovery 2 Interceptions Runs sub 4.5sec 40 Dash West Carter put up 7 first half running clocks this season so he basically did not play in 14 quarters this season. Timmy Dalton (Lawrence County) 15 Attempts 180 yards rushing 4 Rush TDs 24 Receptions for 472 Yards Receiving 4 Receiving TDs
  18. Maybe a gap in talent from top to bottom. But West Carter has the best player in the two districts.
