I believe that Homecoming can be a distraction for high school players sometimes. If not homecoming hype, then the ADI has taken care of the hype for the game.

West by a TD maybe two! Any thoughts?

Rowan County's WR's dropped 5+ passes. Wing is a very nice QB. Also Rowan missed 2 field goals. Mason could have ran off tackle over and over all night, but for whatever reason decided not too.

Sloppy performance by the Comets and still win big. East is down this year. East scored their only TD with 20 seconds left.

Raceland's defense really never stopped West except on their first series. West had 11 offensive penalties, and turned the ball over 4 times. Stamper had a few good catches and a TD. McGlone had a 50yd INT for a TD. Bond looked great running the ball, had a few ankle breaking moves against Raceland's LB's. But he had a great run towards the end of the game where he fumbled on the 3yrd. line with no Raceland's players making any contact with him. West played very sloppy, which makes me feel good that we can play terrible and hang in the game with a good team. Very impressed with the pass blocking just not the penalties from the O-Line.

Good Russell teams of the past have always had with a special play-maker at running back. Jones was a great play-maker last year, and will be big shoes to fill for Russell do they have someone in the ranks that can be a big play-maker on offense?

So you don't think they will be better than last year? They won 6 games at the passing tournament at Lawrence. Beating Lawrence, Prestonsburg not for sure whom else and lost by one to Ashland in double over time in the semifinals, most years they are lucky to make it out of pool play for the tournaments. Everyone on their schedule is down with the exception of Mason. If you don't talk about being the best and making the playoffs and such. What do you talk about? Best collective group of athletes on a team ever at West bottom line, with 8 kids that can legitimately score from anywhere on the field against their competition and a defense that lead the entire state in 3A last year in points allowed for 9 weeks and finished 3rd over all. I believe the biggest problem at West is confidence and support. Also if Bond would for some unlucky reason get hurt, party might just be over.

Pre-Season indications is that West my have one of the best teams to ever at West. They loaded with skill players, most defiantly the fastest team ever. With close losses to Fleming and Russell and competing the entire game with Mason I look for the Comets to host there first playoff game in school history. Cody Stamper and Harrison Bond are two of the best skill players in EKY.

Any predictions on the Russell vs. West Carter game for this fall? Russell won by 3 last year. West will return 8 starters on offense and defense.

How about West Carter Friday night? Wasn't able to attend but heard that they had a good showing. Losing to Ashland in two OT in the semi-finals.

Agreed, Pawsat is by one of the best quaterbacks in the state. Hopefully it is not raining, that really hurt West Carters option game last year, which Bond does very well.

I believe that the preseason game with West Carter will be a great test for the Rams this fall. West Carter's offense will be hard to handle this fall, the game should should point out any major flaws within the Rams deffense.

Harrison Bond 5'10 170lbs. West Carter. Does not have a typical body type for a QB but has been groomed in a football family and makes big plays when he needs too. Along with maybe the best WR corps in EKY top to bottom with great speed. Also West Carter will have great speed in the back field.With the players around him he will put up big numbers this coming fall. He has gained muscle mass and speed this off seasonand has also grew a few inches. West typically was a power football team, but since Bond started QB West has been able to run a very tuff spread attack. I expect West to be able to win every game on their schedule this fall with the exception of Mason, but last falls game against Mason, West gave Mason all they wanted. I look for big things out of this kid this fall.

Mason was not prepared for this game at all. West gave Mason all they wanted on both sides of the ball. West didn't step up and make key plays on defense in the second half, the score stayed close until the second part of the fourth quarter. West WR #10 Cody Stamper showed that he can play with the best of the best in the state and he is only a sophomore. Look out for West in the Playoffs, they are a young team getting better every week.
