  1. I voted yes. If they play for the district they live in, I don't have a problem with it. There are a lot of different reasons to homeschool your kids. I think religious views top the list. The whole creation vs evolution debate could make you keep your kids home. Private/Christian schools may not be available where you live, or maybe not in the budget. Poorly performing schools may be why you choose to home school your kids. My wife works for a public school. My kids attend and play sports at the same school district. That's our choice. But if I we decided to home school our children, my tax dollars would still be supporting the school district, and I would expect to get something back for my tax dollars by way of athletics.
  2. You brought it up, then say there is no need to revisit it. Either back up your statements with facts, not opinions, or back-peddle your way out of it. You don't get a free pass at a cheap shot by saying it's been talked about too much.
  3. The Independent has been called Gregg a sophomore in a couple articles. I haven't seen one, but I wonder if he isn't mis-labeled in a media guide or something.
  4. Both my parents worked. I had a lot of free time. I also knew if that time wasn't used getting my homework and chores done, it would be a bad evening when the folks got home. Bad "marks" at school meant getting "marks" at home. My parents laid out their expectations and they were to be met. Parents that just give kids everything they want, regardless of their behavior, are not good parents. Parents that teach personal rexponsibility at an early age, ones that show consequences for actions, those are good parents. Parents that buy a 10 year old video games that the object is to steal cars, run from the cops, and hire prostitutes are just asking for trouble.
  5. Parents and their lack of parenting is the major problem. The ones that really get on my nerves are the ones that want to be a friend and won't discipline their kids. But, overall, it is a combination of many problems with parents. Some don't want to spend time with their kids. Some don't care where their kids are running around and who they are running with. Some don't care what their kids watch, play, and listen to (violent video games, rap music with explicit lyrics). Their are several contributing factors, but I believe, overall, it falls back on the actions of parents and the core values that are installed in their kids by them.
  6. The best argument I can give for term limits is Robert Byrd in West Virginia. The good citizens of the mountain state just keep voting for him, no matter how bad he embarrasses them. And just to be fair, the folks in South Carolina did the same thing with Strom Thurmond.
  7. With the economy slumping, McDonald's has seen an increase in business. They are just trying to take advantage of consumers, just like the speculators that caused record prices for a barrel of oil. To hold prices as long as they have, then to raise prices now and blame it on increased fuel costs when those have dropped dramatically is a slap in the face to their customers. They're just trying to see how high they can drive their prices and still maintain market share.
  8. Is this directed toward Blue Magic, or are you telling us about your night?
  9. Congressman Jose Serrano from the Bronx is the rocket scientist responsible for this fine piece of legislation. Another fine example of the intelligence of NY voters. I don't think this will pass, and hopefully it won't make it out of committee.
  10. Blue Magic (or BM after this post) should be suspended for luring us in with Beyonce, then pulling the bait and switch.
  11. You're just trying to be famous like your avatar.
  12. I voted for Jim Morris, but another one that always gets me is the no-hitter by Billy Chappel (Kevin Costner) in For the Love of the Game.
  13. Those are great shots! Terry will be a beast when he grows up.
  14. Woody Hayes would have to make this list.
  15. It's not their responsibility. It's yours. Keep the POI card where it belongs, and this wouldn't be an issue.

  17. As a Bible believing Christian, I feel once she dropped her membership from this church, the pastor should stop his actions. To continue on their current course of action borders on harrassment and could open them up to one whale of a lawsiut.
  18. It's been my experience that all makes of autos can last forever or have problems. It is all in how they are treated. Preventative and routine maintenance go a long way on keeping a car up and running. I've had several Chevy's and Fords, and 1 Dodge with over 100K miles without any major problems. One Ford truck even had over 300K miles when I sold it, and it is still on the road. Anyone can get a lemon, but if you take care of your car, it will take care of you.
  19. The stash would have slowed down the Millenium Falcon.
