  1. The Ashland program isn't being slammed. The bias of a particular official for Ashland is. And, although I didn't witness it, if what was said about the Ashland coaching staff and game officials hugging after the game, then yes, that creates a huge cloud over not only this win, but the integrity of the program. As stated earlier, nothing derogatory is being said about the kids. The adults involved, now that is another story.
  2. His "factual quotes are tiresome" because they are counter to what you wish to believe. The Ashland kids played hard. No one is saying otherwise. But if you are so blinded by the glorious victory that you either can't or refuse to admit the officiating played a huge role in the win, then just kick back and enjoy the win. And make sure the Tomcat players concentrate on free throws at practice. Kouns may be calling your next game, also.
  3. I understand what you are saying, but no team should have to do something in order to win "in spite of the refs." The best refs are the ones that don't get mentioned in threads like this, not the clown crew that was on the floor tonight. I was wondering who was in the small car that looked like it was full of stripes I saw pulling in before the game. Now I know.
  4. The key has already been stated. It was the individuals in striped shirts. I hope these grown men feel good about messing over a good bunch of kids.
  5. Is anyone really surprised that the media is biased against any and every Republican that is in the public eye? Liberals control the network and cable news, print media, government funded radio "news". Now, with trying to pass the so-called Fairness Doctrine, they are trying to control talk radio. The folks that preach tolerance are the most intolerant people of all. If you get in the way of killing babies or allowing gays to marry, you are a bigot, homophobe, or any other adjective the left decides to throw your way. If you disagree with the left on any subject, then you are in the wrong. When will we wake up?
  6. That won't have an outcome in the winner, will it?:sssh:
  7. I'm guessing the Russell School Board. It could be that some of the residents of Russell don't approve of the actions taken by those in charge of the academic team. Russell could really save some face by policing this themselves. IMO, that would include removing the team from state competition and replacing the coach and anyone else involved in this, if all of this is proved to be true.
  8. Why not give credit to the RH defenders for holding WC to 30% shooting, rather than give them a left-handed compliment. Congrats, but if...?
  9. I was about to put my foot in my mouth until I got to your post. Thanks.
  10. Had to wait for some of the A-rod press to die down so all the attention was focused on "the one."
  11. Since consumer prices are determined by supply/demand, the price of aligator boots just went down because the supply just went up a bunch.
  12. Lots of variables here. C-Span is like NPR, it is frequented by more liberals than conservatives. This would hold more water if the survey covered a more diverse group.
  13. That's what I was screaming the entire time the media was pushing Obama to the presidency, but they still became part of that story. Why was it OK that the "basic principles of journalism" to be breached in that story, but not this one? That's like the news networks reporting on Katrina. They could fly over New Orleans and tell us how many people were dying, but couldn't snatch them off their roof top because they were only there to report, not become part of story. If they can help in a situation, they have the responsibility to.
  14. I didn't take out a loan or mortgage that I don't have the means to make the regular payments on time and in the full amount each month.
  15. You missed some key points to my original post. The word habitual was used. This doesn't mean a first time offender. I also said after failed attempts at rehab. Once again, this means someone that has violated time and time again. I'm not against second or even third chances. At the same time, I'm sick of all the bleeding hearts that want to save the world. Not everyone wants to be saved. Not everyone deserves to be saved. These are the people I am referring to. HABITUAL DRUG ABUSERS! Quit taking what I say out of context just to make your own point. Something has to be done to curb the drug problem. Social workers aren't getting it done. It's time to get serious.
  16. From watching the reaction of the 2 guys with her, I would say this is normal behaviour for her.
  17. I don't mind to pay my fair share. On the flip side, reduce the amount of theft retailers figure in to their profits, consumer prices go down. More prisons mean more jobs. That fixes the unemployment issue in the areas that have the biggest drug problems. In a nutshell, either be a part of the solution or a part of the problem. You decide.
  18. That's fine with me. Then we wouldn't have to worry about having some pill head trying to steal everything you work for just to supply their habit. It would lessen the chance of driving down the road and getting killed by an impaired driver, or someone with no insurance because they buy pills rather than car insurance. I could go on and on about all the positives that would result from locking up habitual offenders.
  19. Wrong. I'm a Republican. There is a huge difference between funding stupid things like ACORN and replacing all the turf and grass at the National Mall and providing jobs and healthy drinking water to residents that need it.
  20. Rehab only works if the addict wants it to. Court ordered rehab rarely works. There will be a few go thru that see the light, but most just go thru the motions to skirt around being locked up. If after a few failed attempts at rehab, if someone still chooses the drug lifestyle, they should be locked up for the rest of their lives. Get them off the street and out of society. Harsher penalties are the only way to show future drug abusers that we mean business.
  21. I brought up one instance. As I stated in the post, all 4 local papers I read on a regular basis have a lot to be desired. I don't know who you are or your profession, but it seems like I stepped on some toes.
  22. For years, I have read The Herald Dispatch, Daily Independent, Ironton Tribune, and Portsmouth Daily Times on a regular basis. All of these papers have had a huge decline in the quality of local news and sports they report. The articles by local writers are full of spelling and gramatical errors and lack any real substance. When they do report on something, it is generally full of half-truths and "facts" that haven't been verified. They rely more and more on Associated Press stories to fill their pages. I remember a few years back when one of the Rose Hill girls reached the 2,000 point milestone, the Daily Independent didn't even mention it. There are very few true journalists left in this world. I wonder where the next Ernie Salvatore will come from.
  23. Most high school home-ec classes teach a section on budgeting and living within your own financial constraints.
