Quality teams being teams that have shown over time that they can play with almost anyone in the state and not be embarrassed. I do not believe flash in the pans like Holy Cross or Ryle or Cooper to be in that class. I also do not consider smaller teams that do well in their divisions but who would take beatings on a regular basis if they played against the quality teams, to be in that class. As I stated previously, Cov Cath has shown that they can hang with very good teams, they step up to play a strong regular season schedule, they are a good team and in my opinion they belong in the conversation. Believe me, I am not a Cov Cath fan and this is just my opinion, not sure why you have your shorts in a bunch over my opinion.

Cov Catholic, even in years that they have sub par records, play quality competition from the GCL and Cincinnati and are still better than 80% of the teams in Kentucky. Kentucky high school football, aside from a very few quality teams, is pretty weak. Cov Cath is among the few quality teams.

Ok, to make you feel better about your program, I'll add Cooper to the list of "hypothetical teams" in the "hypothetical Class", even though they don't belong there, even hypothetically.

I used several of the traditional powers in my example. It was not meant to be an all inclusive list, as evidenced by my mentioning that there would be a handful of other teams in the class as well. Sorry if I left your team off of my hypothetical list.

The Bluebirds become the first team ever to win 6 straight state championships and also first to win 22 overall state championships! Congrats Birds! The quest for 7/23 begins in January!

Is it time for the KHSAA to consider taking teams like Trinity, Highlands, Bowling Green, St X, Covington Catholic and a handful of others, and form a select class regardless of school enrollment? This may be the only way to get decent playoff competition and championship games. Schools would have to petition to get in the select class and would have to be approved by a committee made up of coaches from the class. The bottom several teams could be dropped and replaced every year if new programs begin to emerge as powers and petition to get in. I know it won't happen, but it would be interesting. Thoughts?

That explains it, the color guy played for Etown back when and lost to the Birds in the playoffs. Sour grapes still leaving a bad taste in his mouth...

Friday night proved that it sure isn't Lex Catholic! I give the nod to X.

The man be a good man and technically a very good football coach, but neither of those qualities was on display Friday night. By failing to yank his out of control players, he thereby condoned the behavior and allowed kids to be on the field whose intent was to injure opposing players.

Lex Cath has to hope for another realignment if they have any chance for a state title in the near future. They are not even close to playing at Highlands level and with the obvious lack of discipline displayed last night, they won't get there anytime soon.

To keep the game thread from being hijacked, this topic deserves its own thread. This had to be the worst crew of Refs I've seen at a high school game, ever. The Referee was absolutely pathetic and needs to find another hobby to get himself out of the house on weekends, because he has no future in football. He inserted himself into this game and he and his entire crew looked inept. And no, it's not sour grapes, the bias of the crew was not enough to cause Highlands to lose the game or even make it close . This crew was just so bad it needs to be pointed out. It was so ridiculous that at one point, after the LC coach successfully lobbied the crew to overturn a ruling of a highlands recovered fumble, allowing LC to maintain possession, the Head Linesman and the LC head coach embraced one another in an affectionate man hug. The entire crew should be ashamed.

Great run by the Pandas! Congrats to all of the players, especially the Seniors on a fantastic season! With a core of very talented Juniors and several Sophomores that saw lots of playing time this year, I expect another good year in 2013. Looking forward to seeing Brossart, Dixie, St. Henry and NCC continue to play well next season and hopefully see some of the other local schools improve so we can bring the State Title and Trophy back to Norther Kentucky, where it belongs!

It's a shame so many NKY teams duck quality competition. I thought Ryle had a higher opinion of it's football program.

Notre Dame has advanced to the soccer final four and are prepared to defend their State Championship title. The Pandas defeated South Laurel 4-0 Saturday afternoon and will face E-Town Wednesday night in the semi-finals. The other half of the bracket has Bowling Green against Tates Creek, with the winners playing on Saturday for the Championship.

Very good game from both teams. The Pandas just had too many weapons and were on the attack all evening. Very good passing and ball control on both sides, great passing and fantastic speed. Olivia V. in net for NDA was impossible to beat as she was aggressive and very smart all night long. Her backs and mids also made it very tough on the BBHS attack to get deep into Panda territory. BBHS quickly establishing it's program as one of the best in NKY. Great season, you should be very very proud! Go Pandas! Keep the State Championship Trophy here in NKY where it belongs!

IMO, the big difference will be experience. The Panda's have it and know how to win big games in the State Tournament. They have also played a tougher schedule than BBHS.

Both teams played well. HHS had very good games from Austin Hergot and Nick Kendall on offense, The defense played solid ball but England is just a stud.

Can we take from this that you are saying BBHS football is a non positive/bad thing, since you never comment on it?

I was very close to the goal on the first half score and it was not even close to off side. The ND keeper punted the ball, it hit ground beyond mid field, bounced over one BB defender and was run onto by Eckerle after she ran past the defender. She had another defender dogging her as she knocked the ball cleanly past the keeper who had not stopped playing and did make a nice attempt at a save. BB will cruise early in the tournament.
