I heard at the Birds' picnic Cam's number is "77" this season. Not sure if any others have changed... On D-Line it's Devin Bruns, his brother Drake is a DB both will have a great season.

Beechies did use centers... A shame the rest of the Beechies' linemen were a no show. Birds' looked BIG and FAST after having a little time off.

Really... seems to me he started on the JV D-Line. Heard this season he's moving to offense, I don't think O-players will get the chance to practice defense under the two-platoon system (and vice versa). I have seen several practices and think he's one of the hardest workers on the O-Line; constantly rotating in, great attitude and good blocking skills. Heard he's doing extra workouts on his own time with a trainer. Also heard, he's gotten good reviews at some college camps this summer. There are several guys like Jason that are pushing "starters" to either get better or get out of the way. It's good for the program, to have a little controversy at every position not just QB... keeps them SHARP!

Coach Phillips' thoughts... “This battle with Kentucky and Louisville has helped football in this state. But I think the guy who changed football, in my opinion, in this state was Hal Mumme when he came in throwing the ball all over the place. High schools usually do what the state university is doing, and when he came in throwing that got more teams putting in his system that made more athletes come out for football. “I just hope our high school athletic association can continue to allow high schools to do seven-on-seven (workouts) in June (against other teams). The level has risen because of seven-on-seven workouts, and now it has been taken away. HIGHLANDS' ATHLETES SIGN TO PLAY AT COLLEGE LEVEL Stephen Kowolonek, a 6-2 forward from Highlands HS, will sign with Transylvania University on Thursday, May 20, at 2:45pm in the Highlands HS library. Stephen was a three year starter for Highlands and was named to several all-district, all-conference, all area, and all-region teams. Stephen also surpassed 1,000 points in his career at Highlands. Ben Watson, a 6-4 forward, will sign with Centre College on Thursday, May 20, at 2:45pm in the Highlands HS library. Ben was named to several all-district, all-conference, and all-area teams in his career. Watson was a three-year starter for the Bluebirds. Garrett Smith-Keller, a 6-4 senior forward from Highlands HS, will sign with Morningside College in Sioux City, Iowa, at a ceremony in the Highlands HS Library on May 20, at 2:45pm. Garrett alternated between starting and a sixth-man role for the Bluebirds during his senior season and was the team’s top three-point shooter boasting a robust 40.2% from the three point stripe. If you would ask Will, Pat or the others probably none would view it that way. All the Birds' players take "ownership" of the TEAM. As a QB, Pat should be at the top from KY, not just NKY. Looking forward to another fine season... 20n10.
