  1. If there were 5 penalties of 5 yards for Montgomery and they had 144 total penalty yards, then that still leaves 8 penalties for 119 yards. From these figures I would still think that Montgomery had their share of holding and personal foul penalties. I know Montgomery had two personal foul penalties. They also had a personal foul face mask.
  2. The penalties were GRC 16-148 MC 13-144.
  3. Coming back from 13 points down with 8 minutes to go shows that Montgomery didn't wear down. These kids worked really hard in the weight room and in the spring to condition themselves into the best shape they could be in.
  4. Montgomery County will be dressed in the old Mt Sterling Trojans uniforms for one game on September 28. They will be in replicas of the 1969 State Champions uniforms. Former players from Mt Sterling have donated $400 dollars each to purchase a helmet, jersey, and pants. The donor gets to keep the uniform after the game is over. They had a picture of the helmet in the local paper this week. They play Paris that night which happens to be a rival of the old Mt Sterling school.

  6. Montgomery had their best season in years last year going 5-5. Coach Gooch has turned the corner at Montgomery. They have a lot of talent returning and has a lot of new talent that has come out in the spring. Montgomery lost in the first round of the playoffs 28-24 at Clark. Montgomery's big win was against Madison Central.
  7. Don't sell Montgomery so short. One problem Montgomery has had the past several years is not having very good numbers. At the spring game they were up more than 20 from last years total. Winning cures all ills. The biggest difference I noticed was they are a lot bigger and a lot faster. Montgomery was still mostly a junior, sophomore team last year. I see them being a lot better than 5th in the district.
  8. I was talking about the girls championship game, not the boys first round game.
  9. Was you at the same Montgomery vs Mason game? I was there, and there was a lot of room in the upper level on the Mason side and in the end zone area(upper and lower). I believe that if people would have sat in just their spot and not taken up two spots you would have seen more room. The best place to watch a game in the gym is in each corner of the upper level.
  10. I was really talking about the district and not just Johnson Central alone. I believe that district is going to be very tough this next year. Sorry for the confusion.
  11. Montgomery will be a very young team. Coach Gooch will be entering his 3rd year at Montgomery County and has to rebuild a lot. Most of the offensive line was lost to graduation so that is definitely a need. Montgomery has ran into a string of injuries since the season ended, with two starter breaking wrist. Playing in a district with Johnson Central it will be very hard for them to have a winning record this year.
  12. Montgomery County spent a lot of money on new bleachers for the football field this past summer. The football facilities are great but work needs to be done to the field. As far as the fieldhouse addition, it was paid for by the football team and not the district and the 2 new practice fields were soded through a donation.
  13. It is being held at Montgomery County this year.
  14. Are the fields that bad?
  15. (i am his daughter) i would have to agree that a football player named homecoming queen is quite impressive! i was a little worried when i saw the title, but then read on and found that it was pretty awesome!! my friend and i were very excited to hear that a girl was playin football. we disagree with the person who said football is not for girls, we think that if they have the power and the heart, then we say "get it girl" haha. we were just very impressed!! GO GIRL!!
  16. The way I see it is that Lincoln and Montgomery making the biggest jumps this year which is good for both programs. I think Montgomery is where Lincoln was last year, having a good year and getting better each week they play.
  17. It will depend on whether Montgomery beats Rowan, and whether Dunbar can win and also West Jessimine can win. Right now I believe Madison just has 1 point in out of district games. A win at Rowan should give Montgomery 2 points. It all depends on who wins.
  18. I'm not sure they were driving for the winning score against Montgomery. After the kickoff, I don't think they gained a yard and was sacked twice by Montgomery to finish the game off.
  19. Remember that Clark still has to beat South Laurel, if they don't they have 3 loses and Montgomery would be the 2 seed because they beat Madison Central.
  20. If Lincoln wins, and Clark wins, then Montgomery will finish 3rd because of the ty breaker system (wins of out of district opponents). If Clark loses, and Lincoln wins next week Montgomery will finish second because they beat Madison Central head to head.
  21. Thank you for clearing that up.
  22. Are we sure Lincoln is as good or improved as people like to say? If gchs uk9 would look at Lincolns schedule, they have played or played teams with similiar records as Montgomery County. Montgomery lost their first two games while on the 3 yard line when time ran out. Even though there is no excuse for losing a ballgame, the coaching staff has done a great job this year.
