This is setting up to be a great game. Both teams have explosive offenses and want the #1 seed to have home field through the state semi's (if they make it that far).

 

It's hard to compare schedules, but here is a shot at it:

 

Looking at Lincoln's schedule, the only team that resembles MC is PRP. A team in which Lincoln lost in the 1st game of the year. Lincoln had a good win over a tough Rockcastle team, but comparing MC's to Rock's style is night and day.

 

Looking at MC's schedule, Tates Creek is a team that beat the Indians and they resemble Lincoln more than any other team. MC also lost to Highlands, but that is irrelevant here since they would have crushed Lincoln as well.

 

When comparing district opponents, both teams played Montgomery and GRC similar. The differences are MC lost to Montgomery, but beat GRC by more than Lincoln did.

 

I really like how Central has been playing since the Highlands game. There were times in that game that the Indians showed flashes of what they could do. The defense stopped Highlands twice on 4th down and caused 2 turnovers in the 1st half. Even though MC got beat, it gave them some confidence that they could play with the best. There is no one in the region that could hang within 3 TD's of Highlands this year either.

 

The questions for this game are going to be can MC stop Lincoln's rushing attack, and can Lincoln stop MC's multi-dimensional attack?

 

I am trying to take an objective approach to this game and make an analysis based on the facts instead of a "rah rah we are going to beat you" approach like some people do on here.

This should be a great game. Both teams will be playing at another level for this game. It should be a great game to watch. To close to call. Madison Central, I am sure, have speed all over the field and throw the ball alot. Lincoln will keep running it. Can't wait until Friday night!!!!

I wanted to look at last year's contest when Lincoln was in great position to beat Mad Ctrl and make the playoffs until Calhoun was injured and the wheels fell off for the Patriots. However, after looking at the Mad Ctrl vs NL game from last year and this year, I remembered that last season doesn't matter now, except that you know that Calhoun and his teammates have to really have a fire in their bellies for this one.

 

With that being said, I think Mad Ctrl has found their groove, but Lincoln has pretty much had theirs all season. At the beginning of the season, I never thought I would have made this pick but, ....

LC played MC very tough last year, without Miller. And with Calhoun getting hurt in the thrid quarter.

 

MC has never been to Death Valley, and Pats have played well all year. They are a couple turnovers away from being undefeated.

 

I say LC squeaks it out, and gets the one seed.

What has happened? The last time I checked 6-3 isn't bad. The Indians aren't dominating the district like they have been, but the district is much improved from where it was. MC has still only lost 2 district games since the end of the 2001 season. As for this year:

 

They lost in Double overtime at Tates Creek.

 

They got beat by a much improved Montgomery County team 26-21 and were driving to score at the end of the game when some questionable penalties killed them.

 

They got beat at Highlands by one of the best teams in the state.

 

I don't think the program has fallen off by any means. It takes time for young, inexpienced players to get accustomed to varsity action and losing 26 seniors didn't help the cause either. They are peaking at the right time.

They better get accustomed to stopping:fight: the run by friday night, or they will lose 35-14. On the other hand Hope, could:scared: scare LC, with big pass plays and pull out a 28-21 win. good luck to both teams.

I wish it was the battle for the district. That true battle will begin next week in this screwy KHSAA system. I predict Lincoln will win by three touchdowns and a safety.
