  1. chsh81, I hope you're right. You usually are.
  2. No one should have more reason to stay away than Ryan Schrand, and he's even been to games. Dick Maile is willing to put aside any problems with Coach L to watch his grandson play. The football team has been well represented at the games and no one is riding the euphoria more than them. I don't support all that any coach does, but I'm not going to get problems with the guy get in the way of supporting them.
  3. This thread is the consumate example of apathy. It took two full days for someone to respond to my post. This thread is now 1/2 way to a full page. If the football team had blown a two TD lead in the last three minutes to lose to St. X this thread would have been busting at the seems. St. X is the #2 basketball team in the entire city of Cincinnati. Coming that close to beating them deserved enough kudos to go around. Except for cch5432, it was ref and St. X bashing. The crowds at the CovCath games have been horrible except for the students. Are people willing to let some feelings towards Coach L get in their way of enjoying what looks to be a probable trip back to Rupp? I just don't get it.
  4. I said a long time, that would be a long, long, long time. So what do you think OldGuy? You've been pretty quiet on this topic. Are people being too hard on these guys?
  5. Well, well, well. CovCath fans are still alive. The apathy for CovCath basketball is sickening. Here goes: tough - strong, sturdy, ruthless....that's what I'm talking about. Yes the 2004 FRONT, let me repeat, FRONT court had more talent. I'll take the group that went toe to toe with St. X. Schult and Grimes are the most relentless players I've seen in a LOOOONG time. They will never be pushed around. Put Billy or Grimes in the Votel frame and they are major D1 material. H.S.Sports - Just close your eyes, put your head back, take a deep breath and let it go man. Ryan and Dick are gone. There going to stay gone the rest of this season. This team is still trying to figure it all out. They would be no matter who was here. If I recall, every player on the floor that had a turnover in the last three minutes of that game played for Ryan and Dick last year. Looked to me like all fundalmentals went out the window when the pressure rose. That will change the more these guys are put in that situation. When it does remind yourself who the coach is and be ready to give out the credit as quickly as your ready to pass out the blame. 2short - I did not play for Coach L. I would have given anything to be given the chance to be a star on a team coached by anyone. People need to realize how good they've got it. To everyone else - this team has the talent and the coaches know enough to win this region. It's going to be up to the boys how far they go.
  6. I just read in another thread that this loss in on "Mikey Boy", referring to Coach Listerman. What a complete load of GARBAGE. Going into this game it was a total mismatch and most thought a St. X blowout. These kids played there rear ends off and went toe to toe with one of the best teams around. This coaching staff has been such an easy target for people. Well this staff had this team within a possession of pulling off a major upset considering the front court advantage of 6'-8", and two 6'-6" guys vs. the very undermanned front court of CovCath without Billy Schult. Aaron Noll, Michael Grimes, J.D. Schmerge and Clay Lampl proved they will NEVER be pushed around by anyone this season. Add Billy to this group in a month and it could be the toughest group of five CovCath has seen in a LONG time. I know these guys are just kids, but the answer to the question "why did CovCath lose" was very simple. They did not take care of the basketball at the end of the game. Let's give St. X some credit as their adjustment to press with a half court trap the last three minutes was genius. Coach Listerman took four time outs the last five minutes of the game to try to calm the team down. Every player that played the last few minutes needs to look at themselves and ask what do "I" need to do to get better and prevent this from happening by the time districts start. If they work on it they'll be making their 3rd trip in four years to Rupp. If the finger pointing continues at everyone else, they'll probably be watching Holmes make their second trip in three years.
  7. Hands down CovCath beating Highlands twice in two weeks.
  8. Take a look at Holy Cross. This is an absolute BRUTAL stretch. George Rogers Clark beat South Laural. 9. C'mon, 6'-8"???? This sounds more like it. http://www.maxpreps.com/FanPages/Player.mxp/Kentucky/Boys_Varsity_Football_Fall_06-07/AreaID-4381da0e-c342-49b8-9319-27c5a47edf5b/SchoolID-50791d25-cf12-4df6-899d-66cc1fca3b31/AthleteID-67a76e88-2f2f-43f8-a827-014523c2de8f
  10. I listened to the entire game on CovCath Internet Radio and Mark Wehry and Jason Elfers never said ANYTHING about Rodenberg bolting back to Cincinnati. Who said this?
  11. One thing that must be mentioned when it comes to CovCath's final scores is this; most blowout games the second and third strings were in most of the second half. These games were over by half time. They were scoring at will.
  12. I hope that's the case. You know how sensitive war references can be.
  13. Come on people. This is way out of line. These are kids playing football. Reality check time. Moderator, please intervene here.
  14. Just so you know, CovCath lost to Elder 13-3 and had 5 turnovers past mid field and two in the red zone. They were losing to St. Xavier to start the fourth quarter 10-3 and the game was resumed the next day due to rain and came out cold. They lost 23-3. They fumbled the first two kickoffs against Watterson and gave up 14 quick points. I would not read too much into those Ohio losses. CovCath is a much better team this year. I'm guessing without Burbage the WR and Burke the QB, the Knights are not as good. I think that swings at least 4 points towards the Colonels. CovCath in a close one.
  15. I don't mean to get off the subject. I just think it's strange and never knew why people do it. I felt for the Highlands' seniors leaving the field today. Jordan Kramer is a great runner and commanded much attention no matter who he played against. I heard there were many good lucks in the hand shake line today. It's just the Colonels' turn. Just remember Bird fans, if CovCath does not win once in a while, it's no rivalry.
  16. I'd be shocked if he intended for that to stick as a name. I think it's totally disrespectful to continuously refer to them as that phrase instead of calling them by their true name. I have never seen or heard him refer to them as that. He has total respect for them. How about with two wins under your belt this year over the Birds, people can find it in their hearts to start respecting this school instead of slamming them with that name.
  17. I'm just curious OldGuy. Why do you and so many other people refer to Highlands as "The Team From Fort Thomas". Give me a good mature reason and I'll admit you took the high road.
  18. Wow, no way to see that was coming.
  19. I was listening to the webcast and they said that the QB that started the 2nd half had never gotten in a varsity game before and he ended up completing a pass. Who was this kid? That's like CCH's 5th QB to complete a pass this year in a varsity game. That has to be some kind of record.
  20. According to the radio there were new starters on the d-line and Sutton played linebacker for the first time. A sophomore started on the d-line along with an o-lineman that went both ways today.
  21. How about that shake-up with all those starters on the bench for CovCath? How about that Brown kid playing when two weeks ago people thought he broke his ankle? At least I'm trying Birdsfan.
  22. How about that Sam Flynn huh?
