I can't even fathom starting my own list, I haven't seen but 4-5 of the teams play. However, I like this list from what I know. And I can't believe no one has commented on the bolded above, though I tee-totally, 100% agree with it.

Just wanted to bump this, only to add the comment from Fields today: Tone sure has changed a little bit, hasn't it?

I can't fault Fields for listing LexCath as "a" favorite, or even "the" favorite. I guess the reason I started this was the hyphenated word "clear-cut." That's where I totally disagree. I can't disagree with the fact that the Knights are playing their best ball at the right time of the year though! Two impressive wins for sure.

I never spotted Gillispie, but these players walked in front of the Mason County side: Bradley, Crawford, Harris, Jasper, Meeks, Dwight Perry, and some short white dude I didn't know (thought honestly, it could've been Dusty Mills). Pretty cool for them to come, especially the two seniors, who won't even play with Darius next year.

I don't think there's anyone who will be a favorite, for next year or any of the next few years. Or "the team to beat," for that matter. Clark will be good, sure, but I think they'll only be one of MANY contenders for the region crown. Remember, they a group of seniors like everyone else. Four good ones to boot. Mason will be there again, their three freshmen this year are as good as any group in the region. Brossart took their lumps this year, but will be better because of it. Montgomery loses four out of five starters, but has a lot coming back. Scott has many returnees back. Campbell returns the majority of their starters. Just my opinion.

Well, I didn't have anything to do with it ... but like I said, I gave credit to the ONLY person to lay the whole thing out, since there's probably few people out there that knew that. No need to get smart about it.

This is no slight to Chuck or Tony, who are tremendous writers and both very good friends of mine. However, neither of them had an ounce of responsibility in putting this program together. Matt Montavon laid out all 50-plus pages, cover to cover, in only about two days' time. Just wanted to make sure credit was given where credit was due. Matt does a GREAT job, and like I said, people need to know who exactly was in charge of getting every bit of that thing put together.

Ah, indeed. I read "MC" to mean Mason, not Montgomery. Sorry for the snarkiness.

I'm pretty sure there is no team, player, coach, statistician, fan, announcer, writer, timekeeper, student, teacher, parent, sister, neighbor, brother, cousin, grandparent, dog, cat, administrator or waterboy IN THE COMMONWEALTH that complains about driving to the state tournament!!!!

Literally, the difference is about an hour (not to sound like a jerk or anything).

Just a fun historical fact: Augusta is 1-13 in regional play, all-time. That one win came in 1950! They defeated Carlisle, 41-32, and then lost in the semis to Maysville, 47-39. The other five teams in that tournament were: Cynthiana, Connersville, Paris, St. Patrick and Morgan. It's real neat to look back at the all-time results and see all the schools that ever competed in a 10th region tournament. For instance, did anyone know that there used to be a high school called "Oddville?" Just some fun facts on a dreary Wednesday morning!!

Just my opinion on the region's frosh: 1. Robbie Stenzel, Clark 2. Kyle King, Deming 3. Luke King, Deming 4. Neal Pawsat, Mason 5. Cory Rogers, Clark 6. Treg Setty, Mason 7. Todd Jefferson, Bracken 8. Davi Stanley, Paris 9. Jordan Gilbert, Mason 10. Bentley Enlow, Paris Take it with a grain of salt, I've not seen EVERY team play, and this is pretty well based on varsity minutes, not necessarily potential (that would switch things up a little bit on my list). There are some others, with that potential tag I would mention: Daniel Yeary (St. Pat), Colton Fraysure (Augusta), Jonathan Caldwell (Deming), Andrew Cummins (Bracken) and Davion Myers (Paris). And Goldy, before you tell me about all the freshmen at Clark, Stenzel and Rogers are all I could easily identify from the one game I've seen them in this year. Stenzel I've known for two years, and Rogers also, from his last year at Fleming. Looks like a bright future for the 10th!

How big are Scott's bigs (or just O'Conner, if I'm reading this right)? I know little about the Eagles, but Augusta's biggest strength -- no pun intended -- is their inside game with Staggs and Mofford. I would think, again not knowing, that this would be the one area they COULD match up.

De'Sarae Chambers (Mason County) has signed with the University of Dayton.

It's one starter, one that probably can handle the ball better than anyone else on the team on the floor at that point. They didn't run up the score or keep any girls off the floor that night. Everyone got their minutes, some more than ever. It's a moot point.

Subs were in at that point more than they have been in the recent past. Keller Menke was brought back in, I'm assuming because she's a sophomore and she'll be leading the younger girls next season. The seniors were pretty well out by that point.
