  1. I get your point. The hard part for the team was knowing they could have scored 5 more touchdowns at least on McCreary but the refs wouldn't have it. They had this game, which was also a playoff spot.
  2. They did play through the adversity of the refs. They played well the whole game and the players never lost their cool. The coaches and players are happy with the way they played but no one was happy with the refs penalizing them like they did and took them out of the game, I mean completely. If you can't appreciate 175 yards of penalties then you would have just had to be there to see it. They will be stronger this Friday night I'm sure because of it.
  3. what does that mean? Do you have to like cheating refs to be a fan of mountain football? I don't think so. Southern never blames losses on the refs. They got beat 4 other game this year and it wasn't the refs. But it was obvious on this game. Don't forget Southern had 175 yards of penalties and only got beat by MCCreary by 2 points. Where in the world did McCreary get their personal refs?
  4. My understanding is they would only have to beat Knox. If McCreary only beats Southern , and Southern beat Knox who beat MccReary and Rockastle, wouldn't Southern be in the playoffs? Why would Southern have to beat Knox and Bell, and McCreary would only need to beat Southern to be in the playoffs??????Who knows...I can't keep up with the rules. All I know is Southern got ripped by the refs who called 175 yards of penalties against them, to give McCreary a win by 2 points.
  5. Don't give it up for southern yet. They do have other games that are not played on McCrearys home field. Wasn't impressed with Rocks play at all when watched them beat Southern this year. Southern lost to McCreary by 2 points AFTER the refs got in the game when the score was Southern 14 to 0. Refs called 175 yards of penalties against Southern! They still only lost by 2, so don't judge much against this one game. Southern is getting players back next week who have been out for various reasons and were finally playing as a team last night. Don't think they won't give their all to KNox Central!
  6. I wouldn't make any assumptions off of McCreary beating Southern. It was played at McCreary with the refs playing against Southern. It wasn't McCreary that beat them. Refs called 175 yards of penalties against Southern. It was unbelievable! Southern played great! With 175 yards of penalties, they lost by 2 points! They dominated the game 1st qtr until the refs got in the games!
  7. And, about your comment...not knowing what the Southern coaches could be upset about...how about 175 yards of penalties called against Southern!! Yep, that would do it!
  8. The Richmond Register just reported that Madison Southern had 175 yards of penalties. The refs were unreal with the flags. On almost every possession, penalties were called against Southern.
  9. If you had seen this game tonight (maybe you could watch it on video, you may be from Richmond...not that you would want to) But if you did, you would see that McCreary did not beat Southern, the refs did. The other games this season, Southern was not near playing their potential, but no one ever said a word about refs changing any of the games, but tonight was a different story, unlike any games I've watched in many years. And yes, Southern is playing better, offense was moving the ball ALL night. They have their best lineman and runningback back next week, along with some others who have been out. The season isn't over yet.
  10. The coaches were not pointing fingers or fighting with any fans! I can not believe you said a coach had a finger in a fans face! Everytime and NUMEROUS times over and over that southern got to the 10yd line, the refs started calling penalties to back Southern up. over and over again. It started the first quarter! At least 4-5 drives to the 10 -15 yard goal line was stopped by the refs , it happened over and over... +Southern was passing the ball and running the ball wonderful all night but it wouldn't have mattered what they did, they were not going to win the game at McCreary. If Southern had LOST this game the coaches would have been dissapointed with the players but they weren't. They told the kids, they played great tonight. they did what they asked them to do. No complaints.
  11. Are you kidding???What game did you watch?? The referees actually took the game away from southern because they were OBVIOUSLY the better team. The refs called yards and yards and yards of penalties and gave the game to McCreary. Southern immediately and easily scored 14 points before the first quarter was up and then the refs got involved....flags, 10-20 yard penalties all night! We sat with some retired coaches who were neutral and they said in all their years of coaching, they had NEVER seen a game absolutely determined by the referees. The referees even waved and smiled at the Southern fans after they called penalty (and yes that is on video!). The McCreary players were nice. Their was no controversy with the players. It was all with the refs. Some of you will say...oh you can't blame it on the refs. Well, watch the video.....and by the way Madison Southern players were NEVER rattled!! In fact, the players were saying they couldn't even feel bad about the loss, they weren't beat by a better team and they didn't give the game away. It was an absolute joke by the referees. But McCreary can't take the refs everywhere they go......
  12. I think it's ridiculous that Lone Oak would be #4...with the competition they have played many teams would be at #4....but some teams have to face some competition!
  13. Agree...they have to produce on offense, and they aren't taking McCreary as an easy team by no means. MS has had some injuries that apparently are getting resolved now.Still believe that they are getting ready to get it together and that they will benefit from the very tough early schedule they've had.
  14. Madison Southern by at least 2-3 Tds. MS has had a tough start to the season playing opponents Rockastle County, Madison Central, Breathitt,....But these tough opponents are going to start paying off. I know they are bringing everything they've got to play McCreary and are very eager for that game.
  15. What does McCreary need to improve on in your opinion?
  16. What about Madison Southern's schedule? They are a good team but can't tell it by the score board yet...they got beat by Breathitt Co, Madison Central (6A), and Rockastle Co.
  17. can anyone comment about this game? Is Harrison really good this year? I had expected they would beat Marion, but obviously didn't.
  18. I've heard that Southern has NO players out with injuries for this game...and that they are getting their act together. Lots of talent on their team. Their play this Friday may surprise some folks. They had tough competition last Friday with 6A Madison Central, and Breathitt before that, so they are adjusting to playing with tough teams and it will actually help them in their district play.
  19. Southerns defense is getting it together...much improved in week 2 of play from week 1 of play against Breathitt. They have some offensive weapons for sure and there offense will definitely come together. If Southerns offense and defense play Friday against Rockastle like they have the talent and the ability to do, then yes, Rockastle will be in for a fight. If the coaches had adjusted some of the play calling against Central, that would have been a different game as well.
  20. Then looks like they could schedule some teams to prove it.
