9th Region Freshmen Standings
fullcourt replied to IM4RYLE's topic in KY Boys Basketball (High School)
Boone was missing Gabbard and Popp. Gabbard has a sprained ankle (out two weeks) and Popp fractured his knee (out six weeks). Flannery, Gabbard & Popp had been playing Freshmen, JV & Varsity. Boone will also be without Flannery when there is a game time conflict between Freshman and JV/Varsity. With the full compliment of Flannery, Popp & Gabbard, they would have been tough to beat, but with all the injuries and getting into the meat of the varsity schedule, they will not be playing much freshman ball the rest of the season. -
Trinity 84 June Buchanan 55

Collins only scored 4 points? Wow! I would think a young man over 6'8" would get more touches than that! There are not many players that tall in the whole state of KY. Use all the weapons, that's the only way to beat the good teams. You got to get the big man the rock and even out the scoring. Two players will never beat five players; at least five good players. -
St. Pat Vs. Lloyd Memorial Thoughts
fullcourt replied to Saints 1997's topic in KY Boys Basketball (High School)
Lloyd is really weak this year, St. Pats must have really struggled to get beat that bad! -
I was told that Trinity blew out JBS

Boone County 82 Bullitt North 57
fullcourt replied to budman0209's topic in KY Boys Basketball (High School)
McFarland is a sophomore, with four very good freshmen only one year behind him...Earls, Flannery, Gabbard & Popp. If they all stay healthy, they will be a group to contend with over the next three years. -
Is this the same Wayne Co. that beat McCreary last weeK?

JBS vs Knott Central 12/19 Thoughts?
fullcourt replied to Master of the Hardwood's topic in KY Boys Basketball (High School)
I would like to see this one. JBS by 8 -
SSF I can't believe your picking Campbellsville over McCreary! It must be a typo. If McCreary is as good a team as you been saying they are, there is no way that Campbellsville will beat them. Don't give up on your team just because they are in a slump. I'm sure they will come out of it and beat Campbellsville by double digits.:thumb:

I agree it's a shame that Holy Cross & St. Henry have to play each other in the first round. -

Simon Kenton 69 Williamstown 13
fullcourt replied to uknowho1's topic in KY Boys Basketball (High School)
Sounds like Simon Kenton did what they were supposed to do....let the underclassmen finish the game. I don't care who you're playing, as long as you don't press or play a half court trap, you continue to play defense. Just because you're playing a weak team that doesn't mean you quit playing defense. Players should always give 100% when they are on the floor. JMO -
Wow! That is a weak district! Not knocking St. Pat, Bracken or Augusta; but these three are very small schools. It's hard for small schools to compete with a school the size of Mason Co. unless several good players accidentially end up in an independent or private school district. The question I would ask is "has Mason Co. ever lost the district?" I'm sure it's probably happened, but will they ever not win the district in the near future?

Magoffin Co. 63 Jackson City 59 -
Sounds like Lincoln will continue to win as long as the 3 ball is falling. They will have games where the shots won't fall and they will get beat. To be consistent, they have to have an inside presence and I don't believe they do. However, they will be one of the favorites to go to Rupp in their region.

Great performance by two quality players. Congratulations to the "Hill":ylsuper:

Simon Kenton 69 Scott 67 Hester had an off night but he still controlled the floor and made several key assists in the 4th qtr. At the end of the game when the "chips were down" Hester played like a seasoned senior should. Simon Kenton started out strong with Josh Hurd scoring at will but after the first 3-4 minutes of the game Scott took the lead and kept it until about 3 minutes left in the game. Scott shot "lights out" and their point guard easily penetrated and scored in the first half. However, Simon Kenton shut him down the second half and he ended up forcing several shots at the end of the game which most ended up being rejected by Hurd. Both teams played very hard and didn't give up. It's too bad someone had to lose. Great game to watch. Congrats to SK
