  1. i think Steve Huffman played the line when one of these linemen got hurt. I think i might add him for the big guy effect. I totally agree with the Donny Rowe. ALL of the Lacks boys cant think of a bad one. Les Colegrove good suggestion. Tyler Grant another one. Lets throw some more in this year just to shake it up Beach on special teams, Caldwell blocking punts and Thompson just cause they say he cant be blocked. Band of Brothers past to present
  2. no individual awards except all area and all district and of course freshman letters and extremely nice gifts from our fabulous touchdown club. Please Rams old and new join. Doesnt cost a thing now and they are working very hard to make everyone feel welcome. No individual awards because they played as a team this year. They were all great in what they did. The coaches said they bought into what they needed to do. In the upper post list the boys that made all area, all district, HM on all state and our all district coach of the year Coach Vanderhoof. Crippled or not we will go to the grave as a band of brothers and sisters.
  3. I want to tell the administration, coaches, parents , etc.. how much everyone enjoyed the Raceland Banquet. It was one of the best i have ever attended and believe me i have attended several over the last thirty or more years. It was absolutely outstanding. The speaches were heartfelt and you could tell everyone bought into the band of brothers and sisters. There were no specialty trophies like some schools of player of the year etc.. They all were recognized of players of the year. I thought it probably would hurt the boys by not getting things like scout team, 110% best this or that but they stood united as one team. It was not one player that made this team what it was this year it was all of them. Fans and kids alike have the upmost respect for their coaches which doesnt happen frequently. I just wished we had one more year with this group to really take it to the limit. Dont get me wrong i have faith and support in the team coming out. It just was an extemely special year. Congradulations to Kasey Clark from Russell. He has deserved the awards that have been given but i want to announce again our boys that were also awarded and fans that couldnt make it to the banquet lets give a shout out and some support for these fine boys and what they acheived. All Area, All District Louisville Courier J.T. Forrest J.T. Forrest HM JT Forrest and Scott Gizzle Scott Grizzle Scott Grizzle Derrick Beach Derrick Beach Clint Thompson Clint Thompson Brad Rogers Brad Rogers Jacob Sparks Scott Mckenzie Benji Mullins Benji Mullins Calab Caldwell If i missed anyone i am sorry All District Coach possible Shawn Deskins Randy Vanderhoof i cant remember Lets try to give a big shout our to this team and all the underclassmen that made this team what is was. It brought tears to use old men and young men alike that this boys will not hit the field all together in 2007. We love you guys
  4. Ok, guys lets give a warm goodbye to Raceland's Gerad Parker. He announced with great sadness that he had been given the opportunity to return and coach at UK. It was one of the sadest moments that the crowd and players have experienced. We wish him the best but will be sadly missed. Also, It was one of my first high school banquets that i have been able to attend in many years. It was absolutely outstanding. Those parents must have worked from daylight to dark. It was beautiful and extremely emotional even on us old men. There wasnt a dry eye in the place. Of course, the all area awards were given out but we know you all know who received them but they also added the all district awards and i hope i do not miss anyone. J.T. Forrest Scott Grizzle Scott MCkenzie Clint Thompson Benji Mullins Derrick Beach Calab Caldwell Coach Randy Vanderhoof got District Coach of the Year Congradulations to all of our Rams and their four Captains that lead the charge this year: J.t. Forrest, Scott Grizzle, Clint Thompson, Scott McKenzie Boys lets follow the tradition. Pride is forever, Tradition never dies.
  5. i would have put my pay day on the line that that was the only link you would have found the one for the large school. Once again the daily independent shows its true colors.
  6. i was reading some of the threads and if i am allowed to ask without getting into trouble, whats up with the bus driver comments? Is it a joke of did something happen. Just curious.
  7. Clint Thompson -Raceland played nose guard. Worked his way up by getting minutes here and there and time on special teams. Played full time varsity. No one thought he would be big enough as a lineman. He proved he would not be blocked. He says he is most proud of the three touchdowns that he scored as a lineman and getting to play with the awesome seniors he played with. J.T. Grizzle, ETC. His only publicity was BGP from you all and local papers and all area. Colleges i have heard are the same as J. T. Forrest. The Ram family wish him well on his decision as well as all the seniors. This thread in my opinion could have been started for our entire senior class of Rams. They were just outstanding this year. Best of luck guys.
  8. Ashland tomcats for the guys and Kittens for the girls
  9. The freshman Ram team played a team before Christmas that came in with shirts and ties and docker pants. They looked good and they played good. We looked like little drifters walking around. Different shoes and hair all over the place. As for our Varsity team same thing. We have long hair, too much hair, fro's, etc. Hair on the face in just places where they cant actually grow a beard or at least clip one the right way. I dont think they make them cut their hair until baseball. However, the coaches look good.
  10. Anyone have a link for the District team? I has be mentioned twice that it has been picked. Anyone know?
  11. My comment toward the Independent was in regards to waiting until tuesday to put the small schools in while putting the large school in Sunday. I am proud of every one of those boys who made large school. I also know the votes for large and small school happened at the same time.
  12. Now that both teams have been selected(large and small)congradulations to all that made it. Has anyone heard about when and where the east versus west game will be played. Alot of boys on these teams play. Last year its was done at Fairview with Tackett coaching. Will it be the same of changed?
  13. What about lineman or special teams from the area that might have got looked at but was just short of the mark?
  14. What did they think about J.T. Forrest. i saw where your said Ashland got some consideration.
  15. I was looking for Ashland, Russell, Boyd County, Raceland, Greenup, Fairview, East and West Carter. When i say Eastern Ky.
  16. I was just upset about the two different things at once and i cried foul. Shouldnt of done it and i have paid for it with my own conscience.
  17. Thank you for your post. I explained what i was thinking and at the time I admit i was upset at the coming out of our all area team in our newspaper. Again it was an opinion in my heart to say that i thought that both large and small school all area should be put in the paper at the same time. Large area schools was announced on front page in a Sunday paper the smaller schools nothing on front and put in a tuesday paper. I think my heart was talking when i mentioned the word fair. I do think you should read the posts on this page before this one. I am not the only one that feels the way i do. I apologized for using the wrong wording and making it sound like an attack.
  18. Horrible should not have been used and i apologize for that comment. Being new to the BGP i thought that the bigger schools get seen by the bigger papers and that the BGP see all. I know in my heart that all of these kids are extremely deserving. My thoughts on the word fair is, "Does the Eastern Ky. kids get a fair look but not only BGP but by all?" I have enjoyed my time on the BGP and for the most part all of us support each others kids, coaches etc.. I think it is ok to voice opinions on the 1A or 2A schools in Eastern Ky. I feel that if enough of us raise a voice maybe someone will hear us. You do not have to explain yourself. The BGP made the decision with great thought. I will use my head on the words i use rather than the old emotional heart. I apologize.
  19. I do like the athlets catagory. Can you widden that to include a few more players from smaller schools. Maybe that is the perfect catagory for them.
  20. I do not feel like I need to start a thread as suggested by Guru. I did take all his point under advisement. I was only answering to a statement to make some comparisions. You cant put all the boys on the list i know that. I also know you cant be fair all the time either. I do think the CJ gave a more fair approach to the smaller schools. It is not a players choice most of the time what high school he plays for or what schedule he plays but if they do great things where they are why shouldnt they get recognized. Bigger doesnt always mean better and size of the players are not always everything.
  21. I looked at my quote and it should have stated that the right thing to do was when they announced this is this years annual all area teams to put both pictures and show them both in a big paper at the same time. That is not to much to ask.
  22. That is fine. I am from Ashland but that still doesnt mean that the right thing to do was put them all together. If you will notice the Sunday paper had it on front page that it was in the sports section but todays paper you wouldnt have known it unless you opened the sports up. Also online it has the big school and as of this morning no mention of the small ones. Sunday it announced the annual all area football team and never mentioned it was just large school. Come on you cant say thats right. We actually have family that work at the Independent and they totally agree. Its just not their dept. to do something about it. If the surrounding areas such as Boyd, Russell,Raceland, Greenup didnt buy the Independent they might not have such an easy time.
  23. i would say that kasy's brother could clear this up and tell you exactly how fast he can run. Maybe the place might be misquoted but i am positive he can run that fast. Is that so bad if he can? Someone ask the question and it was answered. Everyone is so mean right now and its Christmas. Show some kindness for our area boys. We like Ashland too.haha
  24. Ok, I have just one question to ask. I want to know for all-state regardless who puts it out do the voters(again no matter who they are)look at a small school. If your school goes farther than they have. What if they beat schools in a bigger division. Do you not think maybe someone should look that way. Its not just Raceland. Its schools in this area period. There is nothing wrong having outstanding players in a certain area. But look what they have to pick from. Would it be so wrong to look at a small area and see what a small area player can do. I am not bitter and would never want to take something away from another player. I just think that trying to get small town players some exposure doesnt hurt either. We pulled out the calvary to get Pettrey noticed so it shouldnt hurt now to do the same.
  25. OK, how about some comparisions. Does anyone know of a defensive lineman that has scored three touchdowns in a season? One at a district game aganist Lexington. How about a linebacker that has made as many or more tackles than anyone on that list. He was good enough to make HM on Louisville's. How about a quarterback that is known for the amount of yardage he has thrown for and connected and was named one of the best quarterbacks in the state. We have three of those players. We do have a tendacy to back our own but we have facts and figures to back them up.
