  1. Sad when people think like this without understanding or education. Snakes are natures pest control. Have seen a black snake around my shed in the backyard this summer. No more mice around or in the shed.
  2. News story said it was a Reticulated Python. They have a particularly nasty reputation. Checked out this guys website and as someone who has owned snakes and other reptiles my whole life he is not exactly the expert he claims to be or as some of those interviewed claim. He espouses a philosophy that captive born herps are less likely to pose a threat as some of their wild instincts have been bred out of them. While some snakes and even some of the larger pythons (Burmese) and boas can become accustomed to being handled their natural instincts are to hunt and eat. Keep them well fed, feed in different area than living quarters and handle regularly and you can handle some of these larger snakes but any handler will tell you that they have teeth and can bite and always be aware. As mentioned earlier Retics have a well deserved reputation for a nasty disposition. The Retics and the African Rock Python are just too big and too mean to be messed with. I don't know too many handlers who ever feel really comfortable handling them.
  3. Averaged 14 minutes per game at a solid D1 program. That's not bad for a freshmen. Players transfer at a record rate in today's NCAA. While surprised should never be shocked.
  4. I thought I remembered that you took some shots when you mentioned that in an earlier thread. As I have said before D2 is legit in terms of quality basketball and the educational opportunities can be comparable as well.
  5. East Fork Lake is a nice spot in the Cincinnati area. You can spend a lot of time back in the coves off of the main channels. Also has some nice hiking trails for when you are not on the water.
  6. 3 episodes in and I have enjoyed it so far! Tim Robbins is outstanding!
  7. Have read the book and looks like a pretty strong cast. Pretty excited for this one as well!
  8. So you used the tragic event of a teen suicide to take a shot at another poster on a relatively anonymous message board because of his anti-Highlands views on a myriad of topics? We live in a social media 24/7 media driven world where our youth face bullying and harrassment that we cannot imagine. A student has tragically taken their own life and you want to use that to make a point about the Highlands urine incident and how bullying and harassment is not endemic to Highlands? Just.......wow.....
  9. As the search goes on you can probably look into the current AD's previous employment for potential candidates
  10. Padres are in town the week we are visiting so will definitely make a game.
  11. Heading to San Diego in July for the family vacation! Have never previously visited there? Have free room and board from relatives living out there but have no idea what to do once we get out there! Other than earmarking a day for the San Diego Zoo nothing is written in stone? Kind of a foodie so love to try different restaurants when we travel? BGP'ers what is there to do in San Diego? Where to eat? etc......
  12. Average food and below average service the few times that I actually went.
  13. I take the McD's large sugar free vanilla iced coffee as my go to drink!! Dunkin Donuts has a solid iced coffee as well
  14. If a player signs the NLI the school can release them and in most instances where there is a coaching change most schools will release if requested. NLI states that the student athlete is committing to the school and not to the coach in pretty plain language. New coach does not have to honor any offers made to potential student athletes who have not signed an NLI. For that matter the new staff would now be in charge of reviewing current student athletes and would be in charge of decision to renew those. Slippery slope on the recruiting trail if the new staff comes in and cleans house but this is their one opportunity to start from ground zero on building their roster.
  15. If not mistaken think they also have an offer out to Ethan Snapp of Newport. Both would be good fits there
  16. Kellen Smith was recently named to the All GLIAC Defensive Team for 2014-2015 season. He also set the record for most assists in a season at SVSU. Broke a record that had stood since 1984-1985. SVSU had a record breaking season that saw them narrowly miss the NCAA D2 tourney and spent a couple of weeks ranked in the top 25. They improved from a 5 win team in conference last season to a record of 16-6 in the GLIAC and 21-9 overall. They set a record for most conference wins since SVSU joined NCAA D2 from the NAIA. Kellen will have one more year at SVSU.
  17. Jake was named to the Daktronics Midwest All Region First Team to go along with his GLVC POY award.
  18. Top half of the GLVC or the GLIAC would compete on a nightly basis with the teams in the ASun. ASun is a very top heavy conference and the leagues reputation has taken a boost with the recent NCAA tournament victories. It's not a fluke when D2 teams compete very well or even "upset" established D1 programs. There are a lot of good players and coaches at the D2 level.
  19. The fact that Woodland is even in the conversation is interesting. They had 3 starters pulled up to the freshmen team at Scott less than a week before their first game. Don't typically give 8th grade coaches a lot of kudos but to even have them in the conversation is a heck of an accomplishment
  20. Have only seen Jackson a few times at the high school level and more times at the AAU level. Nice pick up for Kentucky State. Like most players he is going to have to get stronger to be successful at the next level and just be prepared for the grind of college basketball. No easy days in practice and no off nights on game day. I can tell talk a little more about Kentucky State. They currently play in the SIAA and have had limited success so far this season. They have lost a LOT of close games. With the growth of the GMAC they will have the opportunity to continue to play a decent out of conference schedule. SIAA is not one of the stronger D2 conferences with the top program at this time being Paine (Ga). They are currently ranked just outside of the top 25 with no other programs getting votes. Kentucky State roster has a lot of JUCO players and transfers at this time. I think the current staff is working very hard to recruit more at the high school level and get more 4 year players into the program. I think they are very close to being very competitive within that conference. I think Jackson will have a solid opportunity there.
