It's been a long time since anyone really considered the AAU State Tournament as a means to get a bid to Nationals. The tournament has always been about bragging rights and seeing how you stack up against other players and programs in the state. Travelers should play in the state because it's a weekend where you can basically put your money where your mouth is for all organizations. You want to be the big dog in the state then here is where you can get that done. As far as the other programs that you mentioned competing on an annual basis with either the Magic or the Travelers it will not happen unless they come up with some serious sponsorship. The better players in those programs would gravitate to the Nike or Under Armour sponsored programs if given the opportunity.

How about Alex Trentman from Brossart at the 3?

Stuhr from Ryle Williams from Owen Co, and Schulte from NewCath would be some solid candidates in the frontcourt to fill in any top 5 team from this area. I am as big a Scott homer as you could find but you are way overrating Blake Schneider from Scott. He has some potential but has barely played on the varsity level and to the best of my knowledge isn't playing on the AAU circuit against the better competition.

D3 schools traditionally carry a lot of players. Since the student athletes are not on athletic scholarships there is usually some turnover. D3 is very guard oriented as size is over recruited.

JUCO in Indiana

Anytime you can get part of your education or the whole education played for that is a great deal for the student athlete and the parents. I have watched Bueter thru his whole high school career and while Union is a nice place I thought he might have some opportunities at the D2 level. When you look at the success that Mikey Gabbard (Boone Co) and Kellen Smith (Scott HS) are having as PG's at the D2 level I thought Bueter might end up at that level. Did he have any other offers or was Union just the best "fit"? Have also heard that Nick Jackson from Scott might also end up at Union if he can take care of some "other business". That would be two very good gets for Union out of this area.

Congrats to Bueter. Had an unbelieveable career at the high school level.

Solid roster and getting the opportunity to play for Coach Price will give these players the opportunity to play in front of a lot of college coaches

Don't have a dog in this fight and really have no idea as to what the parent/coach issues might be. There has been some shots taken at the parent and my only comment towards that would be that I have had business dealings with Pam Thamann in her position as an administrator and found her to be extremely professional. From a business perspective my life would be much easier if all of my clients were like her. I realize that my perspective probably has very little to do with the situation being discussed but to paint her with a broad brush as a wack job parent does not seem fair.

Rieger doesn't get a whole lot of mention for Brossart but does a lot of little things that make them successful. Brossart is athletic enough to match up well with Montgomery Co. Taking Brossart in a mild upset!!

Wasn't there so can't comment on officiating however complaints about poor officiating on BGP don't seem to be relegated just to the Scott supporters. Seems to be be a pretty common thread. Preseason I thought this Scott team had the opportunity to be Coach Carr's best team ever. This group had won the CovCath frosh tourney and had stayed relatively intact. They had a full season as starters and rotational players under Carr last year and produced I think a .500 (15-15) record. They lacked a true post but most teams don't have that player and HS basketball is a guards game. With all of that being said my opinion is that this team with a .500 record has underachieved. Carr has always played a tough schedule so this years schedule is no different than years past. To say that this game meant nothing to Scott is so anti Carr and not what they have built the programs recent success around. While his post game message might have been to move on and get ready for districts I would be very surprised if he said those things pregame. Carr is still one of the best coaches in the area and if this group is able to put together a run and win district and win a couple of games come regional time they still have an opportunity to salvage the season.

Letters don't exactly equate to being recruited to that level. Every D1 school (other levels as well) acquire databases from services etc and they generate tons of letters. Just my opinion but until you get the phone call from someone on the coaching staff you are just another name on the list.

Bach as a D1?

Doesn't matter where the kid plays he is a really good player and while Villa might not be a "powerhouse" playing their varsity schedule is still significantly more difficult than playing strictly at the frosh level.

In all fairness to Ohmer if you are including 8th graders you have to go with Cole Von Handorf at Villa. Von Handorf is getting it done at the varsity level as opposed to the freshmen league.

While it makes a good story I think it defeats the purpose of competition and striving for goals. I am a purist when it comes setting a record or achieving a milestone. I think it demeans the accomplishments of other student athletes who did reach the goal and also what about the group of athletes from the past who scored 980-990 points in their careers?

I think you are underrating the 37th District. Other than the 35th with Holmes, CovCath and Holy Cross it has been as tough a district as there is in Northern Kentucky and without a doubt the toughest district in the 10th Region. Pretty much on a yearly basis there is a top 5 team in the 10th Region sitting at home come regional time. Winning 4 districts in a row is quite an accomplishment coming out of the 37th and during that run he had the misfortune of matching up with some very, very good GRC teams during the regional tourney.

Go there a couple of times per month on Monday night when it is half price Mac N Cheese! This is really, really good Mac N Cheese!

Officials meet with the captains and coaches of both teams before games and that subject is supposed to discussed. You want the players to be able to play with some emotion but if it's truly just trash talking then that doesn't belong in the game. If Ruthsatz was indeed the one doing the trash talking it sounds like Fredrick was in that situation of having to cash the check someone else had written.

You might want to actually read the post before saying that I am spreading a rumor. My post was more directed at how things work in todays world of high school sports and not specific to Dixie. You can go 5 miles down Dixie Hwy and hear many of the same thoughts. I can't speak directly to the Dixie situation but if you don't believe this occurs at most schools with a similar type situation then that is one of those ostrich with his head in the sand moments.

Nice win for Highlands and have to admit I am a little surprised as I thought Campbell county would have too much with McGovney back. It's why I love HS basketball on any given night!!

I think Hatton is the best player in the 9th Region and what he has accomplished at the high school level is amazing. I have also had the opportunity to watch him on the AAU circuit and absolutely believe he is a D1 player. He gets buckets against high level competition. Dixie was going to be very young this season and Hatton was going to have to be their #1 option most nights to have a chance to win. I think a lot of people overrated Dixies soph class ability to make the jump to varsity and be really good this season. I felt that next season after a year of playing at the varsity level would be Dixies best opportunity to compete for another regional title. The other reality is that in today's society parents are going to complain unless their kid is the focal point. I don't think any of them would deny that Hatton is the best player but it is the nature of the beast. Parents are a lot more vested in their kids than back in the day. Coach Chevy has invested a lot in BH making him the focal point of teams with other very good players. I would find it difficult to believe that he is going to choose this time to pull back the reins?

Would be surprised if there were any college coaches in attendence. Majority of recruiting is done on the AAU circuit and other than Bolden not a lot of college prospects in this game.
