I believe with all the injuries that SK has dealt with here lately, they were just wanting to get this game and the regular season over with.

Hester really didnt play too much in this one. I think Steiner was saving him and Hurd for Tourny time.

Seems like they might have voted on a whole career instead of just this year. Mike has had a wonderful career at SK but missed an awful lot of time this year. I really thought Josh Hurd had POY in the bag but congratulations to Mike. The other thing that really stands out to me is that Elbert of SK and Edmonson of Gallatin didnt make the team.

I really dont think NKU is in the running. Last I heard it was Georgetown who was leading the way.

And as I said in an earlier post, I dont think Grimes would have gotten away with all the pushing, shoving and grabbing on Hurd if he wasnt 6 inches shorter.

The only time I really remember the SK fans getting up for a screen was the one set by Kohrs in the backcourt on the guy guarding Hester. Very hard but clean screen. As for Mike, you are right he was getting recruited by D-2 and NAIA schools at the beginning of the year but havent heard anything since.

If you would have gotten a chance to see Hester 100% healthy you would appreciate him even more. He takes the ball to the basket about as good as I have ever personally seen a kid his size do. Since the foot injury he really hasnt got that aspect of his game back yet. But youre right as a true PG he does his job well. Really knows how to run a team.

Congrats to the Colonels for the win. Hurd didnt even seem too interested in this game. I dont know how he couldnt but he really didnt show much intensity at all. Maybe it was his shoulder or maybe it was how physical CovCath was playing him down low. I dont know if its just me but it seems like refs let alot more go if the guy who is being physical is 6 inches shorter than the guy he is guarding. Cant blame the refs in this one though they did make some awfully wierd calls from time to time. Listerman should have been T'd up a few times in this game ( both of them actually ) but you cant expect that to happen to that man in that gym. Both teams played very hard and this game was a joy to watch. SK just couldnt execute down the stretch.

I agree, I think Arrez might have taken a step back this year. I havent really seen that much improvment from last year.

That's just an old cliche. SK is a better team than Shelby and showed it by going to Shelby playing about as bad as I have seen them play and only losing by 4. SK is the favorite in the 8th and I know you really believe this just dont want to say it and jinx the NEERS.

Hester played alot better in this game. Only 9 points but he had to have at least 10 assists if not 15. He was moving much better but still doesnt have that explosivness to the basket. Once that comes back then I think you could say hes 100%. Kohrs was an absolute beast last night and Hurd was just simply too big for the Eagles. Sharp had a good game for Scott although he dribbles the ball an awful lot. ( but when your needed to be 75% of an offense i guess you might do that ) . The Pioneers defense really impressed me tonight and needs to stay that way going into tourny time.

I dont know what youre talking about. I dont remember ever comparing scores or outputs. I've been on the Holmes' threads stating my opinion that with as much talent as Holmes has I would expect to see them scoring more than 50 something points a game. And what's your beef anyway if you agree that CovCath is the favorite?

Im not sure and not sure if that would be better than playing a 2-3 zone. You have to limit Duran and Austin's ability to drive and make Holmes hit outside shots. I think just a basic 2-3 would be better than making sure you deny Austin touches.

I sure hope nothing happens to the coach down there. Its always nice to know i can make a 1 hour drive and be so easily amused by the man going crazy on the sidelines.

Does anyone have anymore news on Hurd? Is he for sure going to play? I have a question for the SK fans that you might not be able to answer but Why doesnt SK ever press? Does Steiner just not believe in it because I cant remember the last time they did.

Well then this should be a concern for the Bulldogs. If a team can play zone and keep the score close like Boone did because Holmes has only one player (Hill) with a legitimate outside shot than the Dogs might have some problems.

I'll give them credit. They have been the most surprising team in NKY this year. I didnt see them playing this well this year but Sharp has had a great year and guys like Quigley, Smith, Miller and Felts have really stepped up their games. I picked SK by 15 in this game and will stand by that. Im not saying Scott is a bad team but just that on senior night at SK with Quigley being out SK will get the job done.

I dont care what anyone says, 55 is still low. Boone Co is a good team but to have as much fire power as Holmes has they should get more offense. Since Duran and the suspended players have returned no final score has really impressed me or made me change my opinion that CovCath is still the favorite in the 9th.

Wasnt there but from what I heard it wasnt an overtime game just a lot of good shooting and Hester seemed to play a ton better in this game. Bad news about Hurd. Didnt even know he was hurt.

Played well tonight against Campbell Co. So that's good news.

:thumb: Absolutley!!! Agree with everything you say. You cant continue to sit him out until tourny time and just bring him back and expect him to perform at a high level. He has to get back into the swing of things before you can expect him to lead this team into the regionals. Im sure if hes cleared to play than the chance of him re-injuring that foot isnt too much. The way he looked in the Shelby game he needs to play now and get back into the groove of things.

:thumb: Agreed!!! That's where I think having Layne in the lineup will help alot. There were times when SK had Hester, Hopkins and Ponzer on the floor at the same time and Shelby really killed them on the boards. Layne being 6'1 or so and a good atlhete should make a difference on both sides of the floor. As for the PF spot I like Kohrs and the toughness he brings to this team but I just didnt see it Friday night. You cant expect him to score too much and they really dont need him to. They do need him to rebound and play tough defense which he is capable of.
