Qryche11 Posted February 24, 2007 Posted February 24, 2007 This probably was one the Birds biggest wins this year and no Bird fans posted the score. Yes, we all know Hurd wasnt playing, but lets not forget Highlands has been without McGraw for a while also. Now, back to the game. I thought SK played a pretty good 1st qtr, they boxed out well, beat the Birds up and down the court in transition and held a 2pt lead. With that said, their 2nd qtr performance was lackluster at best. The Birds took a 9 pt lead into halftime. I think it was the 3rd qtr when Scott Wise took over and made some nice buckets in the post and played excellent defense. Teddy Connley was also instrumental in this game, he played with great intensity and for the most part took care of the ball. Simpson did not have a very smart game, making poor decisions in the 4th qtr with an 8 pt lead atleat twice down the floor. However, he did hit some nice shots on baseline drives. Not sure if anyone else notices but Nic seems to shoot all of his shots on the way down during his hangtime. SK's Layne seemed to play very well most of the night until the 4th qtr when he had a meltdown and came out of the game. Elbert is a solid athlete who played decently but I thought the Big Fella in the middle who started for Hurd played an excellent game. I think his name is Meagerle. SK should dominate their district and make a run for the region, especially when they get Hurd back. Highlands, if they defend like they did last night, they will win their district and possibly advance to a semifinal game in the region.
DMZ76 Posted February 24, 2007 Posted February 24, 2007 Willie's got 'em peaking at the right time of year!! Congrats to all the Bird Ballers on a well deserved win. Now it's one game at a time...and defense wins championships! Don't overlook Dayton...and let's WIN THE DISTRICT!!
katbird Posted February 24, 2007 Posted February 24, 2007 WOW.............wasn't expecting this. Good job Birds.:thumb:

Don't forget about the big boy down the street, I think his name is Kiernan. This game would have been ugly if Hurd would have played. I think the birds would have a hard time guarding a big man for a whole game.
uknowho1 Posted February 24, 2007 Posted February 24, 2007 Hester really didnt play too much in this one. I think Steiner was saving him and Hurd for Tourny time.
Wildcat Posted February 24, 2007 Posted February 24, 2007 Don't forget about the big boy down the street, I think his name is Kiernan. This game would have been ugly if Hurd would have played. I think the birds would have a hard time guarding a big man for a whole game. The game would have gone from a loss for SK to an ugly win for the Birds, that is a stretch at best. It certainly is an insult to the rest of SK's team.
SirMixAlot Posted February 24, 2007 Posted February 24, 2007 Wow with or without Hurd, SK is the far superior team, congrats to the birds on a big win.

Pizza boy Posted February 24, 2007 Posted February 24, 2007 Was a ugly game until the 4th qtr when SK was down by 17pts in the beginning of the qtr to cut it to 4pts before they had to start fouling. Made for a very exciting qtr.
4pointplay Posted February 24, 2007 Posted February 24, 2007 Ouch...even with Hurd and a limited Hester SK should have won this game. Highlands has just not been very good this year.
uknowho1 Posted February 24, 2007 Posted February 24, 2007 I believe with all the injuries that SK has dealt with here lately, they were just wanting to get this game and the regular season over with.
The Sooner Surge Posted February 25, 2007 Posted February 25, 2007 I believe SK hosts Williamstown next week; should be a tight game, ha.
PutMeInCoach Posted February 25, 2007 Posted February 25, 2007 Not a good way for SK to go into districts.
Tiger1 Posted February 25, 2007 Posted February 25, 2007 Not a good way for SK to go into districts. SK could probably play their JV and win their district because it is so weak it is almost embarassing!
