Did big Joe play center for Dixie? I am assuming he did. Did he throw them down in high school? He was my gym teacher for 2 yrs. and did not talk about his playing days that often.

He played center, from what I heard he had a nasty hook from either side. As far as dunking, he could but back then it wasn't about style, real points came when the ball torched the nets.

Wish I knew a bit more, but like Hopper said, he was humble, didn't really talk much about his glory days. Heck, Hopper had him in class and didn't even know the big guy played college ball. He only played on the frosh team at UL, then went on to Lincoln Memorial, in Harrogate, TN, then finished at Trasny, talk about transfers today, he played at three different ones.
