My question is, does Steiner play Hurd and/or Hester in the opening district game against Williamstown? Hurd definitley shouldnt in my mind and it might not be a bad idea to give Hester a game off but since they both would probably be taken out after the first 3 min of the game my question is probably pointless.

He threw the ball as soon as the ref blew the whistle, he wasn't trying to hit him. The other ref even asked Chappie if it was thrown at him and Chappie said no, then Chappie told Steiner what they were talking about. Let's not take shots at high school kids by calling them bush.

 

You are in denial. I was sitting right behind the SK bench and the ball was clearly thrown as a chest pass with force. He may not have known that Campbell wasnt looking or intentionally trying to hit him in the back but the ball was thrown with enough force to let the referee know he didnt like the call. My shot is at him not having the maturity to keep a level head as a 4 yr starter and hand the ball to the ref or simply let the ball go. Turning and firing a chest pass at the ref is bush as I will repeat myself once again. Incidentally, Steiner made a nice grab on the pass as it hit him square in the hands.

Not even the weakest district in NKY. The 34th district doesn't have a team with a winning record. I'm not sure Walton could win the 34th, but they'd have a shot. Both Walton and Grant have beaten Lloyd (the 34th's second best team).

This is the best team SK has had in a long time and they should dominate alot of teams this year. But all teams will have up and down years.

I was there also and agree with nkysportslegend. I have been watching Mike play for 4 yrs,not just one game. Not a good-thing calling high schoolers bush.

If a long time is 3 or 4 years ago then you are correct. I look for SK to own the district next year as well. After that it could be up for grabs.

I agree. SK's team 4 years ago with Brock, Kannady, Stowers, Reid, and Nevels would give this team a pretty good run for their money. Actually, I think they'd beat them pretty bad. But it'd sure be fun to watch Brock and Hurd battle, they're both about the same heighth, but are completely different players. Brock has the advantage, IMO, because of his athletic ability. I still don't know how Neltner won Mr. Basketball over Brock that year, in their two head to head meetings, Brock put a clinic to Neltner. Especially in the Regional Semi-Final, Brock absolutely dominated that game. It's a shame he signed with EKU so early, he could've had a chance to go somewhere better had he waited until the end of his Senior year.

 

Nevels on Hester would also have been fun to watch.

Neltner was a better college prospect, unless I'm mistaken he has Brock by a couple inches, but Brock did win the head to head battle that year between the two.

My point was he dominated Neltner head to head, and anybody that went to the games saw that, and seeing as how he also bounced Highlands from regionals, I don't understand how he got Mr. Basketball.

Its because Highlands played a very tough schedule with teams around the state that year and he got the exposure needed. I am sure somewhere this was mentioned back in 2002 when someone questioned it then.

 

Brock/Neltner and Doellman will be the best 3 players to come out of the 9th region all in the same year for a long time so just leave it at that. They were all great players and have had successfull college careers thus far.

I wonder when the last time Northern Kentucky had 3 of the top 5 candidates for Mr. Basketball was, before that year.

'57 had a few good players, Howard Stacey from Dixie, Joe Stark from Dixie and John Turner from Newport all attended UL. Turner has his number retired in Freedom Hall.
